By half-reception I mean something like:
Capricorn Sun sextile Scorpio Saturn

Do you think this dynamics can make hard aspects easier to deal with? What can you tell me about these aspects in your synastries?

Yes, I believe it gives an easier understanding as the planet already resonates with the signbackground.

example
my Dad`s Aqua Venus quinkunx my Mom`s Uranus.
his Venus is already Uranian in nature, so this does not come as a shock but the excitement is rather welcomed by him.

Better - it`s part of a Yod.
and yes, pretty close to exact, too.

her Uranus 13°58 Cancer
her mean BML 13°01 Cancer
her ASC 11°50 Cancer

sextile

her Mars 13°51 Virgo
(I will not even mention her Venus on 18 Virgo. lol)

quinkunx

his Venus 14°06 Aquarius
his Jupiter 12°16 Aquarius

good enough for you?

BTW in Mr Sag`s and my synastry this happens as well.

his Mercury in Sagittarius square my Jupiter (in Pisces)
his Saturn in Virgo squares my Mercury (in Sag)
(which might be better for him than for me)

Venus in Aquarius
Aquarius disposited by Uranus

now Venus in Aquarius is quinkunx Uranus, so basically aspecting its own dispositor, just that this one comes from another person`s chart.

Or in my example

Mercury in Sagittarius (of Mr Sag) is ruled by Jupiter (because Sag is), now my Jupiter squares his Mercury, so basically his Mercury meets externally the energy his Mercury is familiar with anyway (just in this instance embodied by me).

Well Mercury in Sag tends to be very expansive when talking, not inclined to shut up quickly or be very controlled or keeping things inside and there might be people who really really dislike that, this constant blurting out nunsense (probably a Virgo-Mercury would think that) or making bad jokes, just for the sake of saying ANYTHING,

Jupiter in a square aspect tends to emphasize that theme (which for the surrounding environment could be pretty hard to bear. lol) and make the planet it touches expand and magnifies it.
Now a Sag-Mercury is pretty expansive on itself, so that is something that is familiar, and hence not as threatening or annoying as a square to Saturn (yeah he got the better end of the deal I think; of course MY Mercury had to get the square to his SAturn ).

Oh I get it now.

The term half-reception just threw me off.

Never enough coffee to fully clear my mind.

But thanks for explaining, Ceri. I can see how your Jupiter squaring his Sag Mercury feels better than his Saturn squaring yours. I agree, he lucked out. (Well, but you have more Sag planets than him, so you are technically luckier, right?)

I can't think of many examples in my own synastry life...

My husband's Virgo Venus is quincunx my Mercury though. So that's good (?) Well I can tell that he likes to listen to my wacky little speeches sometimes.

I have more Sag-planets, really?

Let`s see

me:
Sun, Mercury, Mars, Neptune, NN, ASC

him:
Sun, Moon, Mercury, Neptune, MC

well if we only count the planets, we are even. lol

I think that the Virgo Venus for your husband might give a bit of a subtle understanding and probably sympathy for Mercurial aspects, though it would of course even be better if your Mercury was aspecting his Uranus.

though that Mercury/Uranus or Virgo/Aqua mix might drive anybody else in proximity crazy.

Argh Mr Sag's sun and moon are so close I mistook them for one thing!

My Mercury opposes my husband's Uranus. We don't drive people crazy, they just look at us and say, "You people are crazy." See the difference?

His moon is ruled by Venus, and his moon is sextile my Venus. That's a good one.

Well for us the story is always the same, we both have several planets/angles in the 5-7 degree range, pinging off each other in various ways. A lot of our rapport is there. It's more a degree-sameness synastry than anything.

His Moon is in Aries conjunct my Mars?

Yes!

Ummm hmmm what else...

hmmmmmmmm lol. Will think more.

Nice topic good stuff here today!

Edit: oh! Ok, my Sun in Scorpio quincunx his Sun in Aries... wait no--wait--no. They do share a ruler though, which matters I think. And it's so cute they're both in the Venus decan with all the other symbolism. Such confused little bunnies we are.
