Hi!

Your rebel time lady has been a busy, busy bee. But, today I came upon something that was both so simple, it's also terribly fun and informative. (Sometimes a few well organised key points can prove more useful than lengthy articles.)

With all of these eclipses and retrogrades, it's easy to see why 'karma' is a word on everyone's lips, with 'fate' not far behind. There's a reason for that, too, which I'll explain a bit later here.

Starting off, here's what I want'cha to do.

Head over here, and select your North Node sign from the list of keywords.

Immediately, you'll notice there are three steps offered as advice from the site's author. According to those steps, in what 'state of health' is your North Node? Are you living according to your soul's mission, or have you taken another path? (While I may not agree with everything listed there, it's a good, basic gist of relevant influences.)

What's the importance of being aligned with one's North Node?

'Rahu' in Vedic astrology, or the Lunar North Node in western practise, is the soul's destiny; that which we're here to develop in this lifeline so as to clear karma, fulfill soul contracts, and balance our soul's overall energy.

Rahu is always opposite Ketu, or the South Node, meaning that our destiny is in a constant 'tug of war' with our karma. Fate is inextricably linked to its counterpart -- karma -- and vice versa. By developing the highest expression of our 'karmic self' we can begin to embody the greatest expression of our most enlightened, total, authentic self.

That's what we get at the North Node.

Easy enough? Know how to quickly check up on your own? Let's get started.

I'll start with mine, and follow immediately with my partner's. After all, it's by walking our soul's path and being true to ourselves that we find our true love.

So, my NNODE is in Leo, with the key phrase: I will. The first step in claiming my NNODE in Leo is ...

1) Appreciate my Aquarian talents.

Am I embodying the highest expression of Aquarius (my SNODE)? Do I celebrate my humanism? My desire for justice and uniqueness? Do I contribute to causes in which I believe and enjoy my friendships? Am I a rebel with a cause in the areas of science, metaphysics, the mind-body connexion, astrology, and other interests outside of the mainstream?

... Yes! Unequivocally, 'yes' I am embodying a high expression of the Aquarian energy I have in my SNODE. I'm a professional astrologer, an alternative sex therapist, and I actively help those in the twin flame community with support, guidance, and even a little tough love when necessary. My background as a scientist has led me to a deeper exploration of life's mysteries and a greater understanding of metaphysics as time marches on. Parapsychology works more in harmony now with psychology, just as metaphysics do with my physics.

While I'm still a loner, I'm not as much of one as I used to be. So, we can give this box a check mark.

2) Do I own my Aquarian karma?

Am I overly logical and radical? Do I tend to be aloof in my relationships? Do I pursue my intellectual interests at the expense of my emotional relationships and creative expression? Do I resist leadership? When stressed, do I tend to go 'out on the fringes' rather than centre myself? Am I a loner with a tendency to be emotionally cold? Do I defer to a group rather than manifesting my own desires and upholding my individuality?

Hmmm. Let's break this one down.

Am I overly logical? I'd say I've developed a nice balance amongst the heart, the head, and the soul. I'm willing to entertain the inexplicable or supernatural as a legitimate cause, though I must first do due diligence to rule out all other earthly or natural ones. This is proving helpful, however, in the work I'm doing as a spiritual adviser and new initiate on the Jnana yoga path.

Do I tend to be aloof in my relationships? Not so much anymore. I've learnt to be much more expressive, owning my emotional responses rather than burying and denying them. (They always come back in some form!)

Am I pursuing my intellectual interests at the expense to my relationships? This was a really, really big one. My partner helped me see over time the damage that it does, which has allowed me to be more present for my family, and a more devoted individual in a well-rounded way. It's not been easy! But it's entirely worth it.

Do I resist leadership? Hah! I did for a very, very, very long time. Not anymore. Now I'm just in the process of learning how to be a good leader, and lead well.

Do I tend to go out on the fringes when stressed? I don't quite understand this one, so I'll say it has to do with staying grounded versus coming apart and losing touch with reality. I had terrible anxiety which can still surface when I'm not careful. But I'm learning to maintain more grounding anyway (though not to the detriment of my spiritual life) which is helping me to handle the knocks and dips that inevitably come along. I feel that, over time, I'll develop greater emotional resilience as a result of this heightened self-work.

Am I a loner with a tendency to be emotionally cold? Not so much anymore. I've recently decided that I don't actually want to live on my own; rather than this decision be rooted in fear, it's the desire to still share my life with others, even if it is, at times, more indirect than direct. But I'm still working on that -- along with my ability to be emotionally demonstrative. That's improving, too.

Do I defer to a group rather than manifesting my own desires and upholding my individuality? This is actually a repetitive theme throughout my fiction, which I find is in stark contrast to my partner's. (Unsurprising.) It seems that I've always had 'an entourage' which both protected and controlled me. Almost as if, in return for its protection, I gave my personal liberty. Tough to articulate, but it's a very, very deep feeling rooted in my soul.

I'm learning not to do that, as a result. Not to get too caught up in the group, even as I'm fortunate to find 'a tribe' and enjoy the benefits of such a thing. I still maintain my individuality, and I'm not afraid to stand up for myself and my beliefs. I'm just learning to do so with empathy and compassion, rather than cold logic and being judge, jury, and executioner. It's not nice to do that to friends. It's really not nice to do that to anyone.

So ... can we check that box? Maybe. If I'm acing the first one, let's say that I've got a passing grade on the second. I'm not doing so with flying colours, but nor am I completely flunking out, either. Satisfactory with room for improvement.

And lastly ...

3) Stepping into my Leo soul mission.

Am I stepping into the spotlight? Playing? Inspiring others? Wearing gold? Am I an actor? Do I express my inner child? Do I inspire others? Am I dramatic, generous, and valuing fine things?

Well ... actually ...

I'm about to run my own show, for the first time in my life, in which I'm also playing a large role. (I'm probably going to be dyeing my hair strawberry blonde for this role -- the colour I was born with.)

That's pretty bloody Leonine!

But, in all honesty ...

... That's pretty bloody Leonine!

I think, over time, as I learn to see how my Aquarian foundation has prepared me to take the Leonine spotlight, these traits will become more natural rather than foreign, and prepare me for everything I'm here to do.

This, in particular, spoke to me:

In past Aquarius lifetimes, you put aside your own desires, to support a group's vision to assist mankind.

See, I almost did that. In awakening and finding a spiritual mission, I felt torn between what I 'should' do and what my heart desires. I realised that my show is a critical part of my spiritual mission, and while it may not be communing in an ashram, or living on a mountain in Tibet -- it's my path, and my path just so happens to involve being here in Hollywood, and taking some of the spotlight.

I used to feel guilty for that, but then I realised ...

It's what I'm here for. We should never feel guilty about fulfilling our soul's mission, and obtaining our heart's desire. Anything which does have us feeling that way is external, likely has an agenda counter to our own development, and should just be politely disregarded as we stay on our paths.

OKAY! So, that's mine.

How're yours?

Hey auby, I came across this a while back and thought it was amusing that my nn is in Aquarius and my man has his in the 11th...so the same description is noted based on my NN sign and his NN house placement.

It is very informative for sure! I dont identify very much with the SN qualities of Leo or the second house. Not anymore...lol. However, there is still the blending of the energies here. Within our own charts with the sign and house placements, as well as in our intimate relationships with others.

It's still a mystery to me. Not so much for my own life path, but when its blended with another. Perhaps if I accomplish my own NN calling, it will serve the higher purpose in my relationships, perhaps? The NN has always intrigued me, even from the very start of studying astrology. I think this is one of the very things that keeps me looking for more.

It was nice to see you pop up with this thread.

Sexual and emotional intimacy is natural to you
The first step in claiming your North Node in Taurus is to embody the highest expressions of Scorpio (opposite to Taurus) representing your karmic past. So definitely appreciate – but! Don't make your intense Scorpio qualities the centre of your life. *blushing*

Celebrate your intense, sensual side, and joyfully use your innate investigative skill, and plumbing the depths of life. Enjoy sexuality, and the magnetic, smoldering way you attract others. Enjoy unraveling mysteries, and remain passionately loyal to those you care about. {Done.}

Study Scorpio to understand its highest potential, and choose to live that, holding Scorpio ever so lightly. {Highest potential is The Phoenix. Have crashed and burned more than once in this lifetime. My Native name is Golden Eagle!}

This is your first step to consciously attracting your soulmate.

Step two: Own your Scorpio karma
Careful not to get off on suffering and emotional chaos. {Already accomplished.}

With a North Node in Taurus, your karma is around how you've used and mis-used power. You may have learned early to deal with death, or other dark or transformational experiences in yourself or others. You may have also experienced dramatic changes (drama!) and today, you are always on the verge of violently cutting ties. {Past lives as a Warrior.}

In past lifetimes, you might have been a psychiatrist, detective, a magician, a financial advisor, a CEO, a mortician, a surgeon, a prostitute, a sex addict, or someone who has abused power or betrayed others. Do you perpetrate or experience betrayal? Attract power struggles? Bingo!
{Magician, Physician, Royalty.}

This shadow side of Scorpio has to do with entangling our own self worth and values with significant others. It also means attracting emotional chaos (as a sense of aliveness) instead of cultivating peace and serenity. {I've been co-dependent in past, and am still entangled materially with former wife.}

Step three: Step into your Taurus soul mission
Establish your values. Create security. Wear green (your soul colour) {I love a green environment, but don't wear it.}

A fully expressed North Node in Taurus is sensual, and loves the comforts of life, scents and touch. It's practically creative, often the singer, photographer, gardener, farmer, architect, and builds upon a deep inner foundation. It's also great at making (and managing) money, growing its net worth through its own efforts. {Love Nature and organic living. Natural food chef and very sensual. Into massage and bodywork. Have dabbled as a financial services advisor. My dream profession is Natural RE Developer.}

>Does this not sound like you at all? That's perfect! I'm here to tell you that if you consciously adopt these qualities, you'll experience incredible growth and serendipity. You'll be on the path to your soul mission, and be walking where your soulmate lives too.

{First wife is Taurus rising: we lived in a forest, did organic gardening! Former fiance has Taurus Sun. I love girls with Taurus Moon.}

North node in Taurus is about achieving true self-reliance. In this lifetime, it is imperative that you not get enmeshed in the ways of others. In fact, I'd even say: put your values before another's.

With a Taurus soul mission, having a strong sense of what's important to YOU is the key to finding your soulmate. The more serenity you discover within yourself, the more nurturing and peaceful your relationship will be.

{Blessed with inner peace, and know what I value and want. Definite intention for an easy flowing soulmated romantic life partner.}

Strive for internal peace, rather than focusing on achieving peace and balance in your relationships. This will actually improve your relationships and bring you enormous fulfillment and satisfaction.

{Well developed inner Heart and peace.}

The house where your North Node in Taurus soul mission expresses itself, is the area of life where new inner trust and security replaces past struggles.

{MC = Profession and Public Life. I'm a semiretired natural physician, well trained and supremely confident.}

Stand firm on your emotional foundations and create security for your family (this comes naturally to you) {Truth.}
The first step in claiming your North Node in the tenth house is to embody the highest expression of the fourth house (opposite to the tenth). The fourth house represents your karmic past. So definitely appreciate — but! Don't make fourth house issues the centre of your life.

{I'm a total homebody: love home and family life.}

So celebrate your understanding of home, tradition and family and your ability to create a home that is nurturing. Claim your understanding of early childhood experiences, your emotional foundations. Are you close to your mom? The 4th house also includes your primary care-giving parent (most often mom) as well as the karmic reasons we chose our parents.

Study the fourth house to understand its highest potential, and choose to live that, holding these life issues ever so lightly.

This is your first step to consciously attracting your soulmate.

Step two: Own your fourth house karma
Careful of moodiness, codependence, using family as an excuse and clinging to the past. {I embrace the future.}
With a North Node in the tenth house, your karma is often played out in the public eye. Your karma stems from your lifetimes taking family for granted, so in this lifetime family or emotional demands may be heavy in order to balance this. In this lifetime, you are to willingly accept family responsibility (if this arises for you) and then find the inner strength to offer your gifts to the world.

In past lifetimes, you defined yourself, based on your family. You may have been a dependent wife, or you may have been someone who didn’t appreciate the family that they had. You might have been an overly emotional woman who allowed others to rescue her. Have you been (or attracted) emotional, depressed, child-like people in your life? Or do these types of people make you crazy? There’s your clue!

The painful experiences you create that force you to take on more responsibility and show you the dark side of dependence, and hanging on to the past are clues your soul has created to show you where you’ve been.

The shadow side of the fourth house has to do with fully meeting family responsibilities first, before focusing on your career. Funny thing, when you willingly do this, you’ll be on the way to fulfilling achievement.

Step three: Explore tenth house life issues
Meet family responsibility if you have it. Love your home. {I love DIY} Then focus on career achievement and legacy.
North Node in the tenth house will urge you explore life issues including those of your career, reputation and role in society. It’s how you achieve out in the world, and it includes a role that’s often publicly visible. It may include issues around your father (though it could relate to your mother if her energy is masculine). {My father was a Master Builder, with Taurus Moon. I love design and build.}

No matter how foreign this sounds to you, these are the life issues to explore over the course of your lifetime. A North Node in the tenth house is public in nature, and requires impeccable integrity, a business-like attitude and skill at using material resources. You may be conservative, traditional, economical and great at managing money. {I'm all this} With this soul mission, you are to channel your deep emotional foundations, into supporting your family first, then offering support to others.

In past fourth house lifetimes, you have created deep emotional foundations, and established your relationship with and role in family life. {Still working on creating happy home and family now}. A 10th house soul mission asks you to take care of anything undone at home, and then step outside the nest:

First, as father to yourself. {Done.}
Then (possibly) as father to another.
Finally, as the universal father who offers wisdom, support and shelter for the children of this earth who need it.
Embody the essence of your soul mission sign as you step out into the world, expressing honour and tradition: this is the key.

Hi Auby

I've been scratching my head over my NN vs SN.
See, on my draconic chart everything is reversed as my tropical SN is in Aries at 2 degrees. So in my draco, my NN is Aries 2 degrees. I take this to mean that my soul's purpose is actually to move more towards my SN.
What do you think?
Does this make my tropical NN less relevant?

I can relate mostly to the "trap" (of my Gemini SN), to adapt TOO much to other people`s opinion and trying to please (or not upset the "audience"), possibly even more so since my SN is in my 7th house conjunct DESC with Draco Moon EXACT on the DESC and within 3 degrees of the SN - plus Karma is in the mid of Gemini in 7th house as wel.

At the same time however I DO speak my mind a lot (and I love wearing purple. lol, though it depends on the shade of it, not every kind of purple looks good on me). And I love being out in nature.
In fact if I feel I start to overanalyze (Gemini-SN) that is where I tend to go, just outside to experience nature.

The thing is, analyzing is an important tool for me, and I do not discredit it, but there comes a time when you have to forget about the details of analysis and see the big whole.

I love animals (horses, cats, dogs, birds in particular) though I would never want to really "have" one. They just seem drawn to me. Same is true for children. I can definitely see in their response to me how well aligned I am with "myself" and how centred I am.

Of course there is always things to grow into and evolve, but I find it interesting that my NN is in Sagittarius but at the same time so are many personal planets and points, Mars and ASC are even conjunct NN, and Sun and Mercury are in Sag as well.

Interestingly, while I think I tend to "use" the Gemini skills of analysis, other Gemini-traits are really more on my "to-do-list", like networking, communicating (on a "mundane" level) and so on.

Even though this is my SN-sign, it also is something I have to improve and polish, to be honest my NN feels more "natural" to me than the Gemini-SN-end, I suppose because I am so heavily Sagittarius-influenced, with my personal planets all there.

"Have you attracted emotional, depressed, child-like people in your life?"

-- This one line says it all.

Oddly, I feel that I've been living on my Cap NN side a lot more than my Cancer southnode. I'm always the responsible one, the breadwinner, and success does feed me emotionally. What this post says, and I agree with, is that: the first step should be embracing and embodying the highest form of the SN (Cancer). This is something latent in me, that I've always been uncomfortable expressing, except in intimate relationships perhaps.

There are other factors in my chart that point to the 'suppressed femininity', dunno what else to call it. But expressing the vulnerabilities and other 'tenderness' (*GAG*) that comes with it, makes me feel awfully exposed. I avoid that part of myself because people see those expressions of one's inner emotional nature as weakness/neediness/even frivolity. And I am definitely none of those.

But steering clear of all that comes with this particular SN would not be in my best interests...

Ah! Nothing 'amusing' about that. His might be the Huber degree that's the same as yours. We have that. My NNODE is 18º Leo, but his 5H NNODE's Huber degree is also 18º Leo.

If your partner's NNODE is in the house that resonates with your NNODE, it's good to check your Huber degree. They might be a match!

Sorry for the absence. I'll explain in a bit.

I have NN in Leo/SN in Aquarius exactly 2 degrees to the minute from my AC/DC axis. Technically the NN falls in my 6th/SN in my 12th, but since it's so close to my AC/DC axis would it be considered a 7th house NN?

Hey, Em!

Your Draco NNODE should be 0º Aries, for starters!

As to what it means to have your tropical SNODE conjunct your dNNODE? I'm not totally sure yet. That's a good one, actually!

Hey, Bluejay!

If your birthtime is exactly correct, you'd consider them in the 6H/12H placements that they are, sharing traits with the ASC/DSC axis.

But there's a reason for the near-but-not-quite nature of them being where they are. I'd read that accordingly.

yes you're right! i'd thought that after I posted and couldn't be bothered editing

Would LOVE to know if anyone else has this!

Thing is, in my life I've often thought of myself as an empath and people pleaser - totally not aries right? And I've felt the need to become a little more selfish, not so much of a doormat. Hate confrontation (Libra?) My lifelong lesson has been to grow more into my masculine. To take my power back. To be more assertive and go for what I want in life. I have attracted so many Aries into my life and moreso now than ever before. They inspire me with their directness including direct communication. Another thing I have needed to evolve into. Speaking out more and we know how Aries loves to do that.
I get on so well with them. It's like they fuel me.
So in that sense, perhaps evolving more towards my SN is what my soul needs. hmmmmmm
