What I have found out after doing the exact same thing you're doing (comparing the chart of a potential lover with other potential lovers) is that you can't determine the outcome of any situation or relationship by comparing charts without real life interaction. All it shows is the potnetial that exists between two people. I've had amazing synastry with guys who I then thought would be head over heels for me and a relationship with me only to find out they're not even THAT attracted to me. A lot of the charts I've pulled for other people and their relationships actually show that, synastry wise, people don't usually go for what their chart needs so judging a relationship from afar based on a fee charts wouldn't be ideal. For example, I've seen extremely heavy water dominant individuals only being attracted to dominant Fire or Air signs. Why? In my opinion it's because they're scared of commitment so right now while they're still young, they're attracted to the flighty, noncommittal types even though their birth chart craves a down to earth water sign with a lot water in their chart. So you see, even though synastry charts are very helpful with relationships ALREADY ESTABLISHED, they can't predict anything even with the best of the best shnastries. Sometimes transits set relationships off that wouldn't have otherwise gotten started. Sometimes one attraction aspect will bring two people together in the beginning but after that mars or Pluto transit, they discover the attraction was just an illusion. You could be perfect for someone only because of the timing. You could be perfectly WRONG for someone too because of the timing. I'm learning to just let life flow. I'll look up the chart and potential compatibility of a new lover, but it stops there. I have to let things flow because that's how life works anyway. We can't force compatibility, attraction, etc just because it makes sense (synastry/ composite compatibility). I hope I helped.

But that wasn't mainly my point. I'm just saying that there's a lot more to consider when determining compatibility besides synastry/ composite charts. What if he just really likes you so although he may be attracted to the other girl and every great aspect between them is activated, his Venus-Saturn trine in his own chart (If he had one, this is hypothetical) would still make him more attracted to you because he became involved with you first (TIMING). One example out of many.
