Anybody got stories? Curious minds want to know... I've got some ideas about this one (lots of ideas I guess), but currently my inner jury is totally confounded by personal subjectivity on this one... so anyway my jury is out, for the time being--that's what I mean. And I guess it shall remain out until I see it again in a chart comparison which doesn't hit home so hard, but even then my interpretation will be different every time, as it's good to keep a mind open to new things, a fluid one--anyway...I can say the usual stuff about how it matters so much what those people's personal Mars/Venus signatures are... is Venus the final dispositor of that chart? That matters!!... Does it make only squares in that natal chart? Matters big time. That's a crucial thing they need to develop also, and because it's aspecting such a sensitive point as the nodes in the other chart, that node person is actually helping them become aware of the effects of that planet's expression in the outer world, in relation to others... Crucial.
You can say it's the node person's development being affected primarily by such a contact, and I can see how this might seem to be the case--of course the node person is hugely affected by the way the planet person is handling that energy--but through much observation and experience I've noticed that the planet person's planetary energy is due for a (sometimes lifelong) maturation process/development/growth/coming into awareness... through association with the node person.
For instance, my Mars is square the nodes of the following people in my life:
my mother
my daughter
my current life partner
a good friend
another good friend
(they are all born different years, so I actually have unusually close relationships with 5 people with this nodal axis!)
In my chart, Mars is at 1 degree Aries, square my Saturn which is at 0 Capricorn. I have had to deal with anger issues in my life, and the controlled application of my Saturn is obviously crucial for these people (as my Saturn falls on either their North or South Node)-- and I see Mars as a primary lesson for ME with them! As well as going both ways... but I need to learn a lot of things about the force with which I apply myself, the ways I direct my energy... all of that stuff... and they learn about this with me... but it's a two way street.
Cookbook style interps would point to the likelihood that the node person could have the polar points of their personal development (that which they've mastered/are over reliant on and that which feeds them, nourishes them deeply, and inspires them to new things)-- 'bridged' by the planet person in a way which propels the North Node's growth and stimulates it in an electric sort of way, while acknowledging and drawing on the qualities of the South Node. For instance, if somebody has North Node in Scorpio and South Node in Taurus, the detachment and perspective of an Aquarius planet squaring those nodes could serve them in good stead. Aquarius knows something about simplicity, which Taurus so cherishes; and knows how to augment intensity and channel it for the good of the whole, of the collective, which Scorpio needs to know in order to successfully merge with another. Just some thoughts though. Just learning still.
The intensity of this aspect in interpersonal astrology depends, I think, quite a bit on the tightness of the aspect. Much depends on this, as anything actually falling on the midpoint of the North and South Nodes is going to be a crucial part of the relationship and deeply felt by both people, imo... a wider square will be different.
