I've noticed that even being just friends with someone when we have this aspect can be hard. The saturn person just comes off as cold and venus can come off as unattractive or lacking in class.

I've been both venus and saturn. Without a doubt being Venus is worse because you're basically at the mercy of the saturn person and feel like you can't be yourself. I feel a lot better when I'm saturn. Especially since with astrology I can pinpoint why it is I feel a certain way. My last friendship where I was Saturn, this girl wanted to be best friends with me, but she kept saying things and suggesting that we do things that I felt were 'beneath me' if you will. At times I'd feel embarrassed to be seen with her in public because of it. I tried to politely drop hints that she shouldn't speak or act a certain way while we were together, but it seemed no matter how obvious I dropped the hint she either didn't get it or refused to. I eventually became angry and wanted to just blurt out at her that she lacks so much class at times that I don't want to be seen with her anywhere or be around her; but I decided that was only going to hurt her feelings so instead I just stopped hanging out with her and told her I was too busy.

Now she's very upset about my distance and has apologized if her behavior "drove us apart". But this probably means that if she does keep her promise, she'll feel trapped and confined because of being afraid of being judged by me. And I feel trapped whenever I'm around her for too long because I don't want to hurt her feelings and tell her straight out certain things...but she doesn't seem to pick up on hints either so I just feel trapped feeling angry and awful while pretending to feel the opposite for her sake. It's torture.

It seems this aspect is a death knell for both romantic and friendships at least in my experience. Is there a type of relationship that it's good for at all?

other aspects would cancel this one out imo

for example if you got a lot of jupiter in the synastry or natal, its like the reverse of saturn, cause it brings optimism where saturn brings pessimism

I don't think so I have this aspect in synastry and we have two Jupiter grand trines in synastry

1. His Jupiter in leo/descendent trine my Venus and moon 2 orbs
2. My Jupiter in Virgo trine his Neptune and moon 3 orbs.

Plus our composite Jupiter is the chart ruler in the 9th house in Leo square Composite Venus trine moon. can it be any worse??!! And we both have Venus-Jupiter square aspect in both of our natals and that doesn't help.

He has sun moon Venus Mercury Pluto in the 9th house quare Jupiter/descendant and he is very over indulgent and lazy I understand because I have Venus square Jupiter and it's my chart ruler Venus in sag but mannnn this individual lags.

However we have a lot of Saturn in synastry so maybe that's why the grand trines involving Jupiter doesn't help.
My Saturn in the 5th house square his cenus, sun, & moon conjunct his dejanira.
His 12th ruler Saturn in the 12th house conjunct my sun and Neptune.

This relation is very karmic though I have to say.

What signs are your Saturn and her Venus in?

I don't believe one aspect will make or break a relationship/friendship.

I will say that Mars in hard aspect to Saturn sometimes makes me feel the way that you do about Venus/Saturn aspects. The Mars person lacks class/couth to me.

Reba McEntire and her ex-husband, Narvel have a Saturn/Venus square. They were together for 26 years.

Monty Williams and his late wife, Ingrid, were together for 20 years before she passed away from a car accident, R.I.P. They have Venus square Saturn and Mars square Saturn in their synastry.

Yeah but Mars clnjunct Saturn isn't an impossible aspect to hav a relationship with in fact I have Mars conjunct Saturn with the person I'm currently involved with for the past 2 years and this relationship does feel like glue to me in a positive way.

Venus square Saturn is unfortnately to have you CANT build a solid relationship with this aspect you just can't and I think the square aspect between Venus and Saturn makes a lot of sense. If we compare with the conjunction that would absolutely make two people want to build a long term association with eachother versus the square is just impossible and unfornatenate two people come together with love then in the end it becomes very bitter.

I prefer Mars conjunct Saturn because I have a solid relationship then someone with a Venus square Saturn aspect in synastry because we just meet and were like "I wanna be with you but it's just not the right time".

No isolated aspect has this kind of power.

20+ years of being together seems pretty solid to me. It's a personal thing. I should have said Mars/Saturn hard aspects, to me, are worse than Venus/Saturn. Everyone is different.

Edit: Reading over my OP, I did say that Mars/Saturn wasn't a personal favorite. I'm just usually not fond of people who make hard aspects to my Saturn. I wouldn't be able to build a solid relationship with these people.

well I don't know if I can agree with that.
However I should say that transits are probably more powerful transit Saturn is also on our comppsite ascendant and 7th ruler Mercury in the 1st. And that freakin sucks alooooong with Venus square Saturn yeah it sucks. Plus the composite is very weak. So I guess yeah an isolated aspect doesn't mean it's impossible however I'm having a hard time believing it because I've read so many descriptions on this aspect and man I believe them because I'm going through exactly what mandarin said and other threads and astrologers say about this aspect.

Plus since I am Saturn (saturn in the 5th) I do see Venus as very immature and childish but the thing is the reality is that HE IS! All my friends would agree it's very obvious how immature this individual is. But at the same time I'm attracted to Venus but I'm also very turned off like I find them ugly it's a very strange aspect but with a doubt yes Venus is really immature in my eyes.

Hmmm that's strange because the person that is in love with me her 4th ruler Saturn is right on my 7th ruler Mars. So that's strange. But yeah everyone is different. I noticed that men who aspect my Saturn in the 5th house never seem to go anywhere I want a relationship with them but timing is always an issue when someone's personal planet squares my Saturn in the 5th.
