While I agree with Ami that the lack of aspects between your Moons isn't great, there is still connection with them. His Moon square your Venus, your Moon square his Mars. I've experienced Moon square Mars and I will say this: it's sexy as all get out, but the emotions of the Moon person can rub Mars the wrong way. I would think, though, that with your Moon falling in his 8H, he will be more open to experience that emotional connection with you. My current SO and I have Moon square Mars, he is the Moon and it falls in my 8H conjunct my 9H Sun. I can still feel my anger when I don't understand why he's upset, but I'm able to put it aside because I truly care about his feelings. I think that is the 8H/Moon connection. We do also share a wide Moon/Moon sextile, and in a sense, so do you and this gentleman as they are at least sextile by sign.

I see there is a not so wide out of sign Sun/Moon opposition with your Moon, too. What is that? About 5-7 degrees? And then look at that Sun of his, illuminating your 8H like a floodlight. Haha this is a bit eerie how similar our synastries are. So Sun/Moon in each other's 8H. Are you guys drawn together? If you are in the same place, if one of you moves, does the other naturally move the same way to maintain the distance between you?

I really like the shared Mars signs, too. This would be something positive for a friendship or a relationship, IMO. You guys could easily share goals, adventures, and I'm sure between 2 Mars in Gem, bedroom adventures could be some of the most fun! You guys would be able to keep each other entertained, not easy for Gem Mars

There are some problematic aspects like that Venus/Saturn square. But it is part of a DW with your Venus sextile his Saturn. And with your Saturn on his ASC he could feel that you limit him being who he is OR, with his natal Saturn there it could be that you help hold up the structures and disciplines that he already has in place for himself. I really don't like painting flowers and rainbows all over Saturn, though. He can be a HUGE drag and with your Saturn conjunct his, you could amplify all the personal Saturn issues he already has and him for you. With your Saturn being on his Asc and his Uranus on your Sun, he could view you as overbearing and try to escape the situation, too..I pray that doesn't happen.

Overall, at the very least, I think you guys could "get along" just fine, but you could probably do more than that.

ETA: Please take all of this with a HUGE grain of salt missblyss! I am only a beginner at deciphering other's synastries and just wanted to point out things that I saw that "could" support your desire of getting on well with this guy

thank you so much for this insightful reply love! this gives me some hope . I have actually been friends with this guy for 10+ years and we have always been great friends with no issues between us. We had never gotten together before because he always ended up being a friend to my boyfriend so it was kinda a no-go, but now I have been away from those other guys long enough that it's OK.

Look at it this way, if you've gone through relationships where he was friends with your boyfriend and then remained friends with you afterward it says 2 things to me: one is that he's mature enough to handle adult relationships and the second is that he may have been more fond of you this whole time than you might suspect.

The length of time you've been around each other without coming together shows off your Venus/Saturn DW gloriously! Both the delay and the dedication at the same time. 10 years is not a short time for any kind of relationship!

A Sun/Moon DW, the 8H overlays, Sun/Venus DW (his Venus is sextile your Sun it looks like, too), Moon/Merc trine, Venus/Saturn DW, shared Mars signs, and a little Uranus thrown in to shake things up.

Also, I really wanted to bring up the reversed angles because I'm sure they're significant, but I'm unsure exactly how. If I were to take a stab at it I would say that someone who has their Asc in your Dsc sign would be attractive because the qualities you look for in a partner are directly in synch with how they view the world and approach matters in life. I'm sure you know that just because your Dsc sign is Aqua, that doesn't mean you are looking for one, but someone who embodies the qualities of Aquarius. Who better to do that than an Aqua Asc?

I don't think I have a full enough grasp on the IC to comment on that reversed conjunction. I hope someone else does.
