So I used to be somewhat skeptical related to asteroids, until today, when I looked at the synastry chart with one guy I used to date and I saw that his Nessus was on my Sun. I don't want to go into details but what I read about the Nessus person being obsessed or drawn to abusing the other person was spot on, in this case. Good that I didn't let him, for long.

Anyhow, now I started looking differently at asteroids

So my question would be, does Pholus conjunct Nessus in synastry mean something?
Let's say in something like a child-parent relationship?

The Pholus person may ignite the abusive nature of the Pholus person, but it would have to be a close aspect. I see this relationship as, possibly, being really, really hurtful to the Pholus person but the degree or orb would need to be exact to 3, tops, CS.

Hm, interesting, it's 1 degree orb in this case.
I think this one is not an obvious kind of abuse, as in, the "abuser" is not aware of what they are doing. At least in the case I'm thinking about.

Thanks, Ami.

Yea, they may not be. Is the relationship close like parent/child etc?

I would watch this relationship like a hawk for the grandchild, CS.

The Nessus seems to have an URGE to abuse when personal planets touch it and I would add Pholus to this cuz Pholus would "bring it out"

What on earth are you doing?! Shocking other people with questionable interpretations of untried asteroids and minor planets?!
If anyone abuses anyone, it's you , you abuse your clients and LLers!!!
Has astrokeen's Story not been enough for you?! Her son did NOT abuse his ex.

Cinnamomsky, don't listen to Ami and some un-researched rumours.
Actually Nessus is a centaur like Chiron and Pholus. There is an extensive research about centaurs conducted by real astrologers, Ceridwen did post a link, as soon as I can find it, I will post it.

Thanks Enneline, I'm curious about that link.

Otherwise I'm not easily shocked, and I do believe that everyone should be encouraged to think freely for themselves, do the research, consult many sources and so on.

When there is a "higher power" which comes and tells us who should the masses listen to and who should not, it reminds me to something like 1984 from Orwell.

While I still think, that it is extremely useful to have your opinion voiced, and please don't stop to do that, I think it's time that people start taking responsibility for their own decisions. That includes who and what they believe.

Yeah, back to this specific issue, I had a thought related to this relationship from the synastry I was referring to, that there could be something more, something maybe "abuse" related, but I had this thought already before Amy replied. I wouldn't conclude anything based on this anyway, no one can convince me about something I cannot convince myself.
I think in these cases astrology is just part of the path of deconstructing something complex.

Also, I believe that there are always good and bad parts of any aspect/placement, as we are living in this dualistic world, this is how I see it.

Someone might have another approach how they see the world and no astrologer can change that.

That was my grandmother and I loved her by the way and I know she loved me, but I also know that there were aspects in the relationship where some aspects of my personality were clashing with hers. And I am learning to live with this duality, to love someone and also accept that they might have done things that were not in my interest. And that I became who I am due to the totality of this.
So yeah, I think it's possible to stay open to the dark and still choose to see the light.

That is the best use of Astrology, my Friend. That is why I am as honest as I am. It takes MY courage and YOURS.

Thanks Ami, I appreciate your input Though, I have to be honest, sometimes it does seem that you are describing aspects or placements only looking at one side (negative or positive).
In the same time I believe you are trying to make astrology more accessible to people and simplify it down.
Well, everyone has their own approach.

I do agree with you. Everyone has his right to have a mind on his own and everyone is responsible for his life; however, i am never ever going to agree that so-called "astrologers" needlessly shock (it already happened to some on here incl myself) with untried asteroids and questionable interpretations.
I think it's wrong, dangerous and irresponsible.
An astrologer is there for support and not for poisoning the heads of their clients with the defamation of relatives (by using untried asteroids and not enough they are untried; not even the source of the asteroid would be considered) and creating anxieties.

To explain more to CS. Pholus is an ENERGY.Tthe planets, asteroids etc are energy. I studied acupuncture, so really got to see the energy system at work in the body.

The energy system is so true that doctors in China do surgery with only acupuncture needles to numb the patient.

Pholus is not "bad". It has a certain mechanism of action. It "brings out/explodes/ brings to the fore that which it touches.

Hope that explains the workings behind this aspect more. If one looks at the charts as energy, it explains a lot.

Nothing in Astrology is "bad", per se. It is all energies of various sorts and if people don't accept these energies, there is no way, whatsoever, to heal.

I have Jung conjunct the Sun. The unexamined life is not worth living is one of his mottoes. That which conjuncts one's Sun defines one, to a large extent. I do believe Jung was very correct in his assessment

My mother's Pholus conjunct my sun, widely square my father's Nessus on my Jupiter:

14 Cap, her Pholus
15 Cap, my sun
16 Aries, my Jupiter
17 Aries, his Nessus

My parents were exceptionally mild people, for the most part. Especially with each other. The word "abuse" just doesn't fit in any capacity.

There were some problems between them, as there are with most couples. I think my mother had this great desire to change things from the ground up (Cap Pholus) and it didn't mesh well with my father's desire to live in the moment and "to each his own" (Aries Nessus.) But again, the way they handled their problems is a reflection of character and upbringing, not asteroids.

BTW to deduce from Pholus conjunct Nessus in synastry alone that the Nessus person will abuse the other person, is ludicrous.

It`s a statement no thinking person could ever take serious as an "absolute".

No, a kiss on your belly button.

Of course you are a psychologist , intelligent, magical, brave and royal person. I would give you healing qualities , however, Reiki was named after the wife of an astronom. Sorry about this, I already have taken aura from your IC

But Enneline...

I have my name asteroid on my IC, I think. On my dad's sun.

Are you saying that is disqualified because it was named for someone else?

All of asteroid astrology would collapse if we accept that the asteroid's essence is a reflection of the person it was named after, not the name itself.

No, all i am saying that we sould use this into consideration.

I am not saying that the energy we provide on the asteroid is not to count

also, there has been an extensive research by one astrologer who said that she found out that name asteroids conjuncting one personal planets/angles are often found in significant synastriees, like marriage partners, parents, children, etc.

EDIT: at least she did an extensive resarch, not just a few if any and didn't use it to act like a bad omen
