Over the past year I have had an on\off relation with a guy who's Saturn is conjunct my mars.

I have looked up several things to figure out what does this exactly mean? The most I understood was "focused energy"

I just read an article on that it also means: dealing with issues from the father? Learning to assert your anger in a healthy way.

Recently my moon has progressed into Pisces and for whatever reason, I feel like a 4 year old child listening to this guy.( saturn is getting close to my 4th house or Pisces energy?) I just noticed it more the other day , like I just sat and listened , took in what he was trying to tell me about Mars related things that I deal with.

Neither one of us always say the right thing , the right way. I think we both can spat off at the mouth but there is enough there to care not to hurt one another's feelings and learn threw our own aggression how to handle our tempers \ egos better. I understand his "flip side" because I have the same temperament, although it doesn't alway mean that it is right to handle things in that manner. I think we both have come far in our temperaments towards one another and things go a lot smoother .

So my question is this , is this aspect there to teach this lesson in life: How to assert ones self in a action based self assertion (conscious mind ) vs a reaction from the emotional self (unconscious mind) ?

I just wrote an article on Saturn in synastry with other planets. The saturn person may be critical of the Mar's person's actions.

Thank you Ami,

I did read your article and it is what prompted me to look this aspect up. I just wanted to see thoughts on if this aspect also implied this meaning to it or not. He has been critical in the past but things have gotten better in some ways.

"Focused energy" is a good overall summary, with the Saturn person doing the focusing of the Martial energy.

My wife's Saturn is parallel my Mars so I know something about this aspect. And no, she is not critical of me. She set the agenda early on, and in some ways I tend to follow her lead.

This aspect can be tough, but when interacting with this person, they will tend to be in control or at least assert more influence in setting the terms of your interaction. Whether you can accept that is another question.

I had a best friend for many years whose Saturn was conjunct my Mars. Our time spent together was determined by him. He set the agenda and chose the time. I was the (very) patient tag-along.

That is essentially the Saturn person's role. If your impulse to [b]do[b] doesn't take a back seat to patience and letting him take initiative, then you won't spend as much time together.

In any synastry, if you look at the whole picture, there are trade-offs that create an overall balance that is either enjoyable or not. If the Saturn person likes control too much they may come to take for granted the Mars person's willingness or compliance.

The last part made sense, just felt like I wasn't enough for him because of how things were when I met him and seems like he was never going to go back to that person, he became something different.

If you would like to look at the synastry I was born on July 2 1979 at 12:35 pm in greensboro nc and he was born July 28 1971 at 2:58 am in fort ord california.

I know this relation is extremely karmic

Ouch, this is one of my least favourite aspects in synastry, one I personally avoid at all costs (I have enough Saturn in my chart as it is).

I would tend to expect karmic relationships, or at the very least the raising of karmic concerns. I find somebody with Saturn conjunct my Mars tends to overstep my boundaries, and interfere with my natural flow of energy. I have Mars in Taurus, it emits slowly, steadily and comfortably (except with the square to my Sun-Jupiter is activated).

Now say if you have Mars in Cancer you may find the other person’s Saturn is a steadying feature, so long as it’s not square your Sun or Moon also. If you have Mars in Capricorn, it could be overload, or it could help a solitary Capricorn planet to have the support to achieve the potential it was created to have.

I know it’s annoying when astrologers say, “it depends on the rest of the chart” and that’s why I’ve given you a few scenarios. The aspect can work in synastry for couples who are very desirous of stability and loyalty. I would like to see a lot of happy and uplifting aspects to mitigate the heaviness but it’s your life and you’ve attracted this for a reason.

With Mars-Saturn ‘a reason’ will be not only an idealised concept but quite likely a list of absolutely tangible results and outcomes….such is the organisation potential of this pair when they come together ;-)

My mars conjuncts his saturn in Gemini, I would really love for someone to look at the synastry aspect to see what the meaning of or relation was meant for?

Some things that I came up with was that my progressed moon was traveling threw my 5th house in Aquarius. I did look at one synastry sight that labeled our relation as the Creators. His northern node is in Aquarius so I am wandering if there was some lesson for him in that regard. Also my progressed chart is experianceing a Jupiter conjunct Venus so I am wandering if meeting him was to focus my energy towards a goal of some kind seeing how my moon is now progressed into my 6th house, I did read an article that 6th house is about focus towards a goal as well as jupiter\venus can be abundance, focus towards a goal. Just curious as to what others see. My Jupiter conjunct his Southern node in Leo. We also had moon conjunct moon and my pluto conjunct his moon. His pluto squared my venus. Also his ceres conjunct my sun, my ceres conjunct his chiron in Aries 11th house, Aries rules my 7th\8th house. ( something to do with action and healing where he is wounded)

Wanted to resurface this thread as I read up more on this aspect in Synastry.
Traditionally, this aspect means Saturn is critical of Mars and dampens its spirit. One astrologer even said Saturn can't stand the way Mars moves, breathes and have sex. Huh??? I've always been encouraging of what he does...love the way he makes love to me...the way he plays humour...I think he's plain adorable. I also let him take the lead in & outside of the bedroom and go along with most things he suggests. On the other hand he's been open to my suggestions on important matters. I actually don't find this energy suffocating and as Saturn, I can't relate to the irritation Saturn feel to Mars.

My Saturn conjuncts his Mars in Cancer which waxlobster says if it's in Cancer, the energy may be more welcoming (because Cancer loves Saturnian energy)?

I've also experienced the sextile with my ex's Virgo Mars and I was more critical of him instead - of his dreams, goals and career choices. And I found him immature. But in the bedroom I also let him take the lead.

So I'm curious why it felt better with the conjunction for me?

Can anybody share their experiences? Thanks.
