Although this wasn't long term it deeply affected me and I cannot figure out why. I've dated a few guys over the years and nobody has had a lasting effect on my mind like he does. I think about him every single day, I cry, I get angry and irrational and I feel physically sick with panic when he tries to cut contact with me.
I know how unhealthy my behaviour has become but he really seems to be a strong force in my life.

Can anybody see anything of significance to tell me why I still feel this way 6 months after the breakup.

the first thing is to look at your chart and see why you have such emotional responses. it's been s 6 months and you can't let go but are in fact showing very unhealthy obsession as you have pointed out.

Because there was no resolution. I know what this feels like. You have to find resolution within yourself and heal.
It is a process of letting go. Letting go is itself a process of resolution in which we allow without closing off your heart.

I think understanding the reasons I hold onto such situations in the first place is the first step and studying my own chart in a little more depth.

but your natal chart shows pluto square chiron which shows so abusive issue in you life, so this can give an inability to sense when someone has the potential to be abusive emotionally.
in the composite pluto is square to satrun and square tochiron. this shows that there is an underlying coldness and manipulation in the relationship. I assume it has to do with him promising "undying love for" which allowed you to throw your inner most heart to him. but this was his longterm manipulation . now you are going beserk because you have given your all to him but he has discarded you. you simply can't fathom that the actions and words of eternal bliss were.....lies
