His Moon in Cancer conjuncts mine ....exact.Your Sun/Moon positions conjunct my Mc/Ic axis. You two had a Moon/Moon conjunction in its natural sign of Cancer. So that is why the connection felt so intense and lingers on. You are both so young and this connection felt ever more "intense" because of that too. My opinion: you both may still not be that mature to deal with the intensity of this connection. So i think what you are really looking for is someone who is up to speed with you( as he was) but this time, more evolved. I dont think you miss him as much as you miss the connection. And somehow you may have convinced yourself that the connection is simply not possible with anyone else. It is. It is. It is. The trick here is to first take care of yourself and give to yourself the love you want from another. This will slow down the momentum from searching for another to fill the void to " I want a.companion whom is also full of love" Take the good bits of that experience and surrender the rest.
