I read this article, about this essential thing in synastry, especifically in marriage:
one (or both) partner's sun and/or moon, must make an 8th harmonic aspect (180, 90, 0, 45, 135) to the sun/moon midpoint of the other partner; the orb being 2 degrees max
for instance, if you have your sun/moon midpoints at 23 degrees aries/libra, your partner's sun and/or moon must be either at
21-22-23-24-25 degrees aries/libra or cancer/capricorn, or at 6-7-8-9-10 degrees pisces/virgo or gemini/sagittarius;
and if neither of them apply, it must be the other way around (meaning your sun and/or moon must make an 8th harmonic aspect to their sun/moon midpoint),
if there is none either way, there will be no marriage
I checked it for 4 famous couples with known ACs (and thus an exact moon degree) for both people; as well as my own parents, and it has been true in all cases, all of them with either an exact or a 1 degree orb

can you check it in your relationship if you're married and for those around you that you know of?

the interesting thing is that I had this (with the 1 degree orb) in three of my longest relationships, but neither of them led to marriage (I never took any of those seriously from the beginning), so I guess it's essential but doesn't gaurantee a marriage

and the bummer is that I have become interested in this man for the first time in a long time, and I feel so secure and calm around him, something I never felt before. I'd be lying if I say I didn't think of myself in a wedding dress as soon as I met him, something which has NEVER happened to me before; however, we don't have this 8th harmonic thing either way, it's really disheartening, because I was feeling truly alive finally after years

and if it means anything, we only have square sun/moon MPs; mine are at 23 aries/libra and his are at 22 or 23 or 21 (his time of birth isn't exact) cancer/capricorn

the only male/female aspects we have in synastry are:
his moon square my mars (a rather wide orb)
his sun sextile my venus (orb 5)
my eros opposite his psyche exact
no major sun/moon or venus/mars aspects either (unless you count a conjunction with the orb of 11 degrees from his mars to my venus)

I wonder if these are enough

I was very intrigued with what you wrote and checked with the guy I'm dating, though I don't know if I understood completely the process...

What I notice and I don't know if this is good or bad for the future of the relationship my Sun/Moon Midpoint is at 25 Scorpio and his Sun/Moon Midpoint is at 22 Scorpio... So both Scorpio Midpoints.

My Sun in Cancer 22 degrees make an exact Trine with his MP, am I right? my Moon also Trines his MP by 6 degrees (Pisces Moon)

On my part, my MP sextile his Sun in Sag, I could be wrong, but that's all I see...

I know I'm not married so I might not help but... I will say that we have a double whammy Sun square Moon in synastry and I could care less cause I feel like somehow he understands me and keeps me grounded so, even if there's no "marriage" MP aspects, don't worry, for me the fact that I know I have those squares makes me aware of things, so I proceed differently of what I would normally do, cause I know there's room for confusion.

Hi girlwiththerainysoul,

I had checked in this a few years ago. I had married my husband... twice, lol. We divorced for a few years then remarried. In total we were together 15 years.

The closest we have is his sun square my sun/moon midpoint by 4°. That is considered much too wide by most standards for midpoints. But that's the only close-ish aspect we have.

From nearly 20 years of studying astrology I must say, there is never a single aspect that applies to all couples in synastry. Not ever. There are always exceptions.

I believe girlwiththerainysoul meant that either the Sun or Moon of one person should make one of those degree aspects with the MP of the other (not MP to MP and trines are not one of the degree aspects listed). That's cool that you have those trines and DW squares, though!

This is so interesting! Sorry to hear you don't have it with your crush, though. I believe the Venus/Mars conjunction is close enough, if they are in the same sign. About Eros opposite Psyche, I had that recently with someone, I was over the moon with him but it was very short lived and didn't last as a lot of Eros/Psyche pairings do. He was Eros, I was Psyche.

Do you have a link to the article?

Well, MP's aren't like planetary aspects. They really only consider aspects within 1 - 2 degrees, but exact is preferred.

Perhaps my scenario proves that slightly wider orbs are valid.

My Capricorn friend that I have had a past with for the last 30+ years - (together ... separated ... together ... friendship) - has a 03 Aqu Sun/Moon midpoint and my Sun is 4 Aqu. My Sun/Moon mp is 19 Cap. and his Sun is 19 Capricorn.

I have a question that I would ask in Beginners Astrology but it's rare that anyone answers in that section.

Still learning about this part of Astrology, so what is an '8th aspect' and how can a midpoint be Aries and Libra? Mine is only one sign I think Virgo.

Sorry for hijacking but thought your question was really interesting and want to understand more about this sort of stuff

^ To answer your second question, every midpoint has it's exact opposite, which is also a midpoint. Generally, one will be closer to the two bodies and the other will be further (near and far midpoints).
