Topic: Synastry: Would a planet parallel to the other person's Descendant mean anything?

EDIT: My main question is about the parallels involving the ruler of the other person's Descendant and how I should interpret this.Would a planet parallel to the other person's Descendant mean anything? My boyfriend's Venus is parallel my Descendant - orb within 1 degree. My Moon is parallel my boyfriend's Descendant - orb within 1 degree. And is it significant if by declination the planet parallel the other person's Descendant is also the ruler of it? My Descendant is in Taurus and my boyfriend's Venus is parallel to it. My boyfriend's Descendant is in Cancer and my Moon is parallel to it. IP: Logged |

Yes, you can consider parallels as equivalent to conjunctions. The fact that those planets rule your Descendants probably enhances the effect.IP: Logged |

When you say that because the planets rule our Descendants the effect is probably enhanced, can you please clarify what effect you're talking about? I'm also asking how to interpret this because of the planets being the rulers of the Descendants and not just normal planets being parallel/conjunct to them. Would the fact they rule the Descendants change the interpretation? If they only strengthen the usual interpretation, how much do they strengthen it by? IP: Logged |

Those are pretty specific questions and I'm sure you would be able to give more personal notes on what those feel like. I know Venus conjunct Descendant brings a lot of instant attraction and Moon conjunct the Descendant a lot of familiarity and comfort. I can't comment on having a Descendant ruled by those planets, because mine isn't, but that does seem to be an interesting correlation. IP: Logged |

Based on the planets involved, it recently occurred to me that perhaps these declinations clarify that the synastry involved is of a romantic nature, especially since synastry does not always play out as expected. The specific circumstances here could just make it easier to interpret the kind of relationship the synastry is depicting. For both planets, they're at a position past the degree of the Descendants they're parallel to and this makes them both sound parallel from 7th house. At the same level as a conjunction, this could suggest an increased chance for marriage. Granted, not all romantic relationships get that far and I'm not confident this one will be one of them. Still, we both want to get married to each other, so the desire is there for both of us. As far as the specific planets and the fact they rule the Descendants they're touching, these positions could make the relationship more binding than it would be otherwise. I think this is mainly from the planets being Venus and the Moon though and this interpretation is further emphasized by my boyfriend and I both being mostly dominated by the Earth element in our natal charts. For instance, if one or both of us were dominant in either air or fire, this would probably change my answer. Well, I think I ended up answering my own question.
