So every so often there's this guy wanting to go out with me... He's cool, successful and all... He actually seems to be pretty interested in me. Based on his questions that is but again might just be a game he knows well due to his Gemini placements... But for some reason our communication is just off. Apparently I feel this stronger than he does... On text, all is dandy. But when we meet in person, there's this choking silence and forced communication almost.

I'm about to go out again soon... Just thought it would be interesting to know why I feel this way.

Based on our chart I can't figure it out. Is it his Mercury in my 12th house?

I'm on the outside
(His TOB is approximate)

Is he the one on the inside? Because I see some potential problems with commitment with the person on the inside.

I'm the one on the outside. I'm not that into him, although he's cool. But this communication thingy I can't figure out.

Just curious about the commitment part... Do you mind elaborating?

You mean me here... True for some people, but wouldn't think he'd be one of them. Since on text as mentioned it's real smooth. And seems like there's no harsh aspects really going on there. Except for it being in my twelfth house.

As soon as I read the main question I thought of Mercury in 12th H synastry. It happens that a friend of mine has the exact same problem with a guy she is dating last 3 months.
She has a Mercury opposite Neptune natally she generally issues with communication and other related stuff but it's the first time it's so weird. It's not problematic in the way a Mercury square Mercury or Mercury square Mars would be. It's not that they are arguing or have different mindsets/views etc, it's like they have problem speaking clearly, explaining things that need to be explained, it's they are tongue tied. She doesn't discuss things with him like she would normally do. They both assume wrong things about each other because of that.
It is so simple to explain those things with a few more words yet it is like something is blocking them. They are also suspicious of each other and they think that the other has hidden motives.

If it wasn't for my friend's case I would think of Mercury-Saturn or someone's Saturn in the other's 3rd H Saturn acts like a block.

Mercury in House 12
You may have some difficulty understanding each other's ideas in a purely intellectual way. However, this placement often compensates for the above by making it easier for you to communicate with, or understand each other on a subconscious or intuitive level. This placement often shows that the communications between you connect you in ways that are not apparent to others. The Mercury person's words can stimulate the twelfth house person's intuitive senses, but may also inspire feelings of guilt, uncertainty, and martyrdom. There is also the possibility of dissembling or outright deception in this relationship, especially if there are harsh major aspects between Mercury and the twelfth house person's planets.

I found this here: http://www.wanderingstarjewelry.com/Synastry-Relationship-Astrology-Report_ep_60-1.html

It has some other aspects you may be interested in.

You? No did you not write that you are on the outside?
He is the blue one right? Then he has saturn square mercury.

You asked about bad communication. Yes one can and should of course look for more indicators.

No I don't believe its bc of his mercury in your 12th that you feel this way.

Mercury harsh aspects to saturn is no joke I can tell you that. Its a very harsh energy, impossible to miss, also one of the biggest puzzles in his chart.

For me, seeing that he has mercury square saturn natally is one of the biggest clues.

People with mercury saturn hard aspects have a harsh energy when it comes to communication. Like, really harsh. They mean well but diplomacy and putting it softly, is usually not their thing, and I'm just talking about mer-saturn here.

Also, not to sound dissmissive or anything, but smooth in text communication? Well some would not call it real communication.

Being smooth and funny and sounding caring in text is not hard. Face to face communication is what counts I would say.

We usually have an other persona texting. Some can seem extra dry. Some can be extra warm and be able to say and write things they don't dare to face to face etc Anyways, texting is not the thing to look at regarding communication in your case, imo.

You feel something choking when face to face? That may well be his mercury-saturn energy hitting you on the face so to speak.
He lives with it so he won't notice.

Its all about energies^^

Also his Mars is on your mercury. Be ready for heated arguments, just saying^^

I'm by all means not good at reading charts as a whole! I just know that specific aspect wery well and I know it first hand, how it feels to communicate with someone having that aspect
