I have this aspect Natally, and knowing someone who has their Lucifer in the same place as mine (close to my age) in this aspect ...

Think of Lucifer asteroid as a lightbringer. Similar to luminaries in that they shed light on certain aspects of the self.

In a square to the sun, it can be a conflict or friction aspect of shining light on parts of the personality/ego (sun) that can be difficult to come to terms with (I would say with squares, emotions are what cause a good chunk of the friction, it needs a lot of detachment and understanding to be pro-active about without fighting).
