I've found that 2nd house overlays tend to have a 'I want to do this FOR you/GIVE to you' whereas 8th house overlays are more a feeling of 'let me SHARE with you'. 2nd house feels possessive in that you want to be the giver, the one who is the source of comfort. 8th house is where you want to share in that feeling mutually, both benefiting and giving.

2nd is a little more selfish in nature of it's 'give more than take' (though I always watch out for giving too much and feeling resentful or like you're 'owed' something).
8th house is where you wanna share that and give and take and receive as much as you dish out.

This can be the case I suppose if it's heavily leaning on one person's 8th house. But I find it's less just 'give' and the 8th house does actually WANT in return, whether or not they realize it. They want the intimacy with whatever is in the 8th- so if it's the Moon, then they want to share and divulge emotional intimacy. Or at least will be prone to it, whether they are necessarily comfortable with it. On the other hand, an unhealthier expression (or simply one who doesn't have trust) can try and repress the emotional vulnerability and feel stressed about being in the presence of someone who lights up their 8th. It depends on the person.

But I find 2nd house is the either 'give' or 'receive', not usually both. 8th house is meant to be both, and if trust issues are a thing (especially in the 8th house person), then it can explode later down the road. 2nd house isn't as personal always, either. 8th house is 'wow this person is very close to me', can feel like they've been let into the inner circle without much foreplay. Which again, can be stressful on the 8th house if it's not something or someone they know or trust well. Or if that trust gets broken, it can be super problematic (Pluto/Mars energy kicks in as it's the 8th house).

In fact, sometimes it can close people off (this is usually their own issues, but either way). Sex doesn't automatically give you trust. 8th house doesn't mean money, necessarily (it's one of the possible things that could be) but generally whatever currency is valuable to the 8th house person (look at 2nd house/venus for what they actually value).
