What would a composite yod with the moon at the apex in the 7th house mean for a first love couple who are no longer together? The Sextile is between Saturn and Mars... They have stayed in contact via social media for the last 11 years and there have been many synchronicities and crossing of paths over the years—26+ years knowing each other. But they are married to other people.

Other aspects in the composite include:
Vertex conj dsc
Sun opp moon
Venus conj Mars

In synastry:
His venus conj her Pluto
Asc conj vertex — both ways
Moon conj SN

The relationship seems fated and the two do still have feelings for each other, but have not fully expressed this to each other.

What does the yod suggest? Is it the reason they never got together for keeps?

So grateful for any insight offered.

It looks fated (ASC conjunct Sun and NN) and they both didn't completely move on from each others and so there's unresolved issues (Composite Saturn/NN in 12th house). Reality doesn't match with their nostalgic feelings though (Saturn square Neptune), but none of the two is likely willing/going to change their established reality in order to get closer again, cause Venus/Mars in second house is square to Jupiter, even though the past (Saturn) will keep them bound.

That’s pretty spot on! I personally know these two and they were a special young couple. Very passionate about each other, and I think it was overwhelming for both of them.

What do you think about the yod? My own take on this was that the Saturn quincunx was the separating factor. Her father passed away early on and she was deeply affected by it. That particular quincunx has been interpreted as a loss of a parent in different articles I’ve read, though not sure if it translates to composites that way. Then the Mars quincunx seemed to speak to their strong feelings. The emotions ran very high in that relationship. The Sextile seems to keep the feelings charged, but the sun opp moon right in the center—that would put even more emphasis on that volatile moon at the apex, do you agree?

Overall, it seems the two seem to be deeply connected, though they are destined to remain apart. He’s written songs and poetry about her several years after their relationship ended, and they are always keeping tabs on each other. So much more too.

Her father passing away and your interpretation about the Saturn quincunx is interesting. So, Saturn square Neptune/trine Moon in 7th, looks even more significant. Well, since Mars/Uranus is sextile to Saturn with Saturn trine to Chiron, it looks like Chiron had a role as well with those oppositions to Venus/Mars/Uranus square to Jupiter (as a painful event). Jupiter is in 10th house and Sun, Moon and NN are square to MC, so I wonder if also a professional choice might have been a cause for separation or it is actually what might keep them separated, with Venus as a chart ruler in second house square to Jupiter...?
I'm not sure that Moon opposite to Sun/Mercury is so relevant for their breaking up here, Uranus and Saturn look definitely more challenging. Also, South Node in the 6th (Saturn) seems to definitely show this all is about the past...

The career thing didn’t come into play too much with regard to the break up. They were still in high school when the relationship ended. It could have something to do with why they didn’t get back together, but it’s not clear. Her father’s passing happened a month after they broke up, she never opened up to him again after this, and it is also unclear why. The relationship was very much like Kevin and Winnie from the Wonder Years—if you’re familiar with that show from the early 90’s.

Stoika, thank you so much for your insights! <3
