My ascendant is in the nakshatra of uttera phalguni conjunct my moon in hasta. Does anyone have any idea as how this affects my thinking since moon is mind?

You have to judge it by the degree,
Let's say your ascendant is 23.20 degrees Virgo and your Moon is in 26 degrees

That becomes a conjunction

Since your ASC is at the lowest degree of Virgo it would likely mean that the outward manifestation of your behavior 23 degrees comes first followed by Moon which is at 26 degrees

Hope I've clarified that

I read somewhere that where you have conjunct planets it's important to look at the degrees to see which planet becomes more prominent in the conjunction

Like UnderworldGlory stated, I also read that the lesser degree planet will influence the the higher degree planet in conjunction.

Raj Kapiel of KRS Astrology also says that Moon and Mercury are very much influenced by the planet it sits next to in conjunction. They "serve" the conjunct planet. I'm not sure if we can say Moon serves Asc though...
