Ok. here goes. This is a story from India.
My mom told me this story (a true one) about this guy in India who wasa a chrisitan and at the same time practiced some sort of divination which made him capable of predicting stuf and instructing people where to build wells or where to construct houses and etc. When this person died, his sons came and they took over. From then onwards , hell turned loose. To be precise, his elder son's wife had two kids out of which one died. His wife went mentally crazy and everyone in their family died. Now I am worried , coz my mom told me "a christian cannot worship both, God and Mammon"
Is this the reason why this happened to teh person's family.
Now I fear in becoming a pagan!

PLease advice

Nev

What's wrong with being a Pagan?

I was thinking that just because the person worshiped and beleived in christianity and at the same time observed the occult, his whole family was destroyed after his death.
That is why I fear in becoming a pagan. I juts cant find an explanation for why this happened to this person's family.

please advice

Hi Nev,
It is true that you cannot be both a christian and a pagan, you are either one or the other. I have been struggling with this for years. Either you believe the word of God or you don't. God specifically says in the Bible You shall worship no other God besides me. I went to catholic school when I was younger and then as I got older, I became interested in astrology, tarot, etc... but somehow, in a way I think it is idolotry. GOD made the stars. How can we worship the stars? He who made them is so much greater. Nothing for me personally saved me except Jesus. I read the word of God now. Jesus said there will be many who will hate you because of me. And that is so true! And what did Jesus do except teach us to love one another? What's wrong with that? He was sent from God. I don't put my faith in tarot cards or astrology anymore. I put my faith in God. The more I read the bible, the more I understand how to live my life. Anyway, that's just my personal view of the situation.

Mammon means money...

GOD is all and seperate from it.

This universe, which is body of God has several selves (lower and higher). Some child of God, chooses to devote themselves to the lower self. The love of God that got manifested in Jesus is from the higher world. That world is such a mystery according to me.

We must always bear in mind Jesus's teachings. Ask the Father, to give you gifts and use it well (always considering the welfare of a greater number of people)

May be this man misused his gifts and the brunt was faced by the family?

That was my 2 cents on the discussion

Why must there be a cosmic reason for things to happen to a family.. why must it be someones blame to bear?
Can you usually find a reason for things that happen? Especially death....?
I see everyday, the good people, the ones who help, are usually the ones who end up with an illness, or a devastating event.. ( as a lesson? As a spiritual push to find a cure?) I see all the time, bad things happening to good people.
Do all good people have a bad fate? Of course not.
But I believe some come here ( Earth) to participate in less-than-stellar tragedies.. in order to further the development of our human Souls... and the collective.
This man came in the name of love and Goodness to help find water?
Oh, what a horrid person. He must have done something wrong.
Well.. everyone does wrong things. Then we learn.. but to think his family was 'punished'?
I prefer to think of things more openly and unbiased.
There will always be things we don't understand. Let's not label someone a heretic or evil, simply because we don't understand.

According to me, its all about lessons to be learnt by all parties in the family. We are all interdependent in this plane of existence. When we are the absolute observer, we come to a realization.

The initial story is so brief and I really cannot decide as to what was really going on. Besides who are we to judge. Only God, being an obsolete observer understands everyone and gives the fruits of actions.

I have stopped branding people good or evil. We are all children of God (each a God in their own realm) enjoying their own created game.

i consider such endeavors as

astrology /astronomy ..
mathematics / numerology / gematria
physiology / herbal homeopathy / alchemy
meditation / martial arts
etc./etc.

to all be skills of various "pagan" origins
and exist as powerful tools that help one "understand the self"
perhaps the only difference is ones "intent" in using the energies released

it seems to me that this old indian fellow was only practicing something like water dowsing and feng shui
these are beneficial and very passive arts generally utilizing either/both intuition and guidelines handed down thru generations
i would be more suspicious of what the sons were doing in their own lives ......or if perhaps they had their own karmic debts to pay......

but then again if youre a christian perhaps you dont believe in karma?

i also consider this a seperate issue from pagan "polytheism"
i think even the ancients understood the concept of the unity of the ultimate creator GOD
while at the same time praising the myriad of emanations expressed in nature(neteru), such as the ennead of nine egyptian "gods"

Money makes no difference to God it means nothing to him, nor does astrology or tarot, or anything else. What he cares about is your spirit and your heart. Good deeds and love in action. You can use any skill to love and to help others and he would rejoice in that.
