Just curious! But what aspects or signs would be associated with someone having maybe self destructive tendencies, or maybe even being a masochist? I am just curious!

Pisces could be masochistic, i.e. doormats. Their tendency to give of themselves can result in a lost sense of "self". Their sensitivity to everything can drive them to seek escape via alcohol/drugs.

As for aspects, I don't know much but I'm guessing an afflicted Moon, Neptune, Mars, Saturn, or Pluto would exacerbate this, and maybe more likely when Scorpio or Pisces are involved. (?)

Still, there's always free will. Understanding the challenges in one's chart allows a person to be aware of any negative tendencies and consciously work at overcoming, or at least neutralizing them somewhat. Also, I believe in utilizing the more "fortunate" aspects to accomplish this. My two cents, as I, myself do this *work* daily.

challenging:
Moon in Scorpio square Jupiter, Uranus and Chiron
Saturn in Scorpio square Pluto, opposite Venus
Neptune square Jupiter, Uranus and Chiron

"fortunate":
Moon and Neptune trine Mercury and Mars
Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus trine Pisces Ascendant
Saturn trine Uranus
Sun trine Chiron
No harsh aspects to Mars

Interesting. Thanks! I was just thinking about that kind of stuff and wondered if it could be evidenced in one's chart. I was thinking that the Aquarian's ability to detach might be sometimes detrimental because it's so easy to say "I don't care what I do to my body or what abuse it undergoes, that's just PHYSICAL and that's superficial" if you see what I mean the detachment can aid in defense mechanisms but can turn into a negative thing, as in not caring or being responsible for the body anymore, in fact, not even feeling connected to it at all.

Thanks everyone for your input. I agree with what you said that the positive things in our chart can help us get thru the things we need to grow from.

Self esteem or lack thereof...would come from how they feel about their self in their heart of hearts. Therefore, I think a badly afflicted sun, being squared or opposed by a very strongly placed Saturn, Pluto, or a combination of planets, maybe involving Mars if there's a tendancy to violence against the self, especially if the sun is in the 12th house. A tendancy to attract those who might be violent to you, could be indicated by the sun squaring Mars in the 7th house, house of partners, perhaps teaming up with Saturn or Pluto. (Mars could not oppose the sun in a natal chart, as it's never more than *I think* three signs away from the sun)

That's my spin, theoretically speaking only, of course.

Oh, and the thing about Aquarians being able to detach from harsh realities being inflicted on the body...definately a good point. Pisceans can do this too. These two signs are the last of the human experience, when the human has gotten over itself and is more interested in things that are beyond that experience.

Maybe, since they're the most evolved vibrations, their purposes here are often to be human "props" for the life lessons and experiences of others? So, this essential quality is what enables that. Just hypothesizing here...

Well, I am Pisces and will admit to being a doormat more than once. Maybe i am an exception to the rule, but i do get SO tired of reading how we are supposed to probably turn into alcoholics/drug users. Could be that i am spared from it BECAUSE of my well aspected Pisces. Uh oh Twin -- there goes my sensitivity to EVERYTHING!! rofl

Since i have Scorpio influence too (asc)-- wondering why the He11 i not a raving psychopath.

BUT -- i have known peeps with Scorpio influence who drink their lives away. My Aquarian brother sure drinks a lot -- i think it must be because he has no water at all and must find it somewhere.

Another brother did away with himself - i noted Sun in Aries opp Neptune, Mars sq Pluto. He even had Moon conj NN!! ahh, but Mars on SN.

Another suicide i knew had many planets conjunct NN in Libra -- also had Saturn and lilith on Asc.

And, OH -- my employer who also did the bad deed was Scorpio.

And, the other brother is Cancer, Pisces Moon,Aries Asc. - he is an alcoholic and drug addict.

Noting all these things, surely Free Will is the clincher.

Actually, i guess "point made" Twin -- am just so happy i only fit half the expectation.

Libra can be something of a doormat at times because of his/her desire to please and be agreeable. But this isn't the same as being self-destructive-- it's oversensitivity towards others.

For someone to be self-destructive, they would need to have an obstructed desire. For example, a Taurus, who craves stability, unable to get a job, or a Leo whom no one pays attention to. This would drive the sign absolutely crazy, and if it went on for thirty years, he/she might lose it.
