Has left us without clean water all this week, and no drinking water. We have 8 breaks in the water mains. We can't flush or shower or do laundry. At one point this week, there were only one or two roads open in and out of Ames. They shut down I35 and Hwy 30.

The Skunk River crested at 26.8 feet...and flood stage is 14 ft.

Thanks for bearing with me, if I don't keep it as tidy as usual.

Well...look at it this way...at least despite all that trouble...
you are still able to do your perfume sales gig today.
quote:
I really don't have much time to discuss this issue right now. I have a show today that I'm doing to sell my perfumes, and I need to get ready.

And you are all safe.

Some folks would not be so fortunate and most likely some are not.

It is so hard when things like this happen. I have been through hurricanes and it is an awful time !

Hopefully you will get some relief this week.
Sending thoughts of safety for you and yours

Shouldn't this thread be in Gaia's Garden?

That is NOT to belittle what Abs is going through. It sounds pretty rough.

I had my "stroke" thread moved to KTAA because I felt it was a personal experience thread which seemed better suited to be just another personal thread of mine at KTAA.
(which whilst being medical in nature, was not really suited for Health And Healing)

I do agree, this thread is suited to Gaia's Garden....
as it kinda fits:

quote:
Gaia's Garden
Dedicated to Mother Earth and all those who Love her; feel free to discuss ecology and ecosystems, gardening, the environment, and any related subjects

or KTAA as a personal "this is what is going on in my life" thread.

I just wanted to update people as to why I wasn't around much to keep things tidy. And to ask for patience if things aren't moved immediately when they are posted in the wrong places.

Of course this would be helped immensely, if people would just post them in the proper places to begin with...

What Nephthys said. This wasn't a string about the weather; it was a personal account of someone in the middle of it and an announcement of sorts, as well as a notification (and apology) as to why she won't be around as much. It was appropriate for LLC2, especially since she was notifying others in her own Forum as to why she won't be tidying up as much...but it would have been an appropriate posting in LLC2 for anyone, not just since she is a Mod there.

We have clean drinking water now! Huzzah!

We are dry now too, so that's a plus!

Thanks to you all for thinking of us

I agree, Randall and Nepthys, but there was a string about that in LLC already:

"The Flooding In Ames" is not a title likely to alert anyone to the fact that this is an explanation or announcement of Ab's inability to attend to forum concerns. Rather, the title places the thread squarely in Gaia's Garden. The subject however is appropriate for LLC2.0 -- although, as Yin pointed out, there is already a thread for that, much more appropriately titled.
