T O P I C R E V I E WOdetteSometimes people have what they believe to be a perfect (or close to perfect) synastry, composite or both. At times, the relationship still doesn't work out despite this apparent compatibility - and we've had threads on LL, in the past.. wondering 'why' that is. "We should be a match made in heaven judging by our charts - so why did he break up with me?"^ That kind of question Usually astrologers answer the question by mentioning all the other factors (psychological, spiritual etc) that come into the picture. But lately I've been wondering whether compatibility in Chinese Astrology is actually more relevant... or *just as* relevant as Western compatibility. So, for example... if you have a really good synastry with someone (romantic partner or friend) but you actually don't particularly like them or they don't like you or you argue all the time and your relationship is generally unhappy - Do you feel like it is explained by Chinese Astrology? Or alternatively, if you have a seemingly horrible synastry/composite but you are actually close and happy together - are your Chinese signs compatible?Look up your Chinese signs and see how they match! KohoI wouldn't say the answer is needed to be found in other systems. I had a great synastry and composite chart with someone. The best I ever seen for myself. It was the first person in a long time I felt I could settle down with. Big deal for me at the moment since I'm still in that dating excessively phase of my life but I instantly would of committed.Despite obvious mutual attraction and strong feelings it never happened. Probably could of been that synastry Saturn square Venus aspect that so often blocks many potential relationships. It could of also just been a very non-astrological answer. I was the first person she dated after undergoing a traumatic experience. And with all the burdens of that every time it seemed things would begin everything crumbled. Plenty of other life road blocks. Had to move away, social obligations, and the list go on and on. Call it that Saturn square Venus creating a constant stream of blockages, or just chalk it up to the life paths not lining up. And I also wouldn't be surprised if progressive and transits would of told a clearer story. As for Chinese astrology, I use Zi Wei Dou Shu. My experience is that it tells the same story as my Western chart. The benefit of sometimes bringing up that chart is that it clearly states themes that exist in my natal chart but are more difficult to lock in on. I don't know if this system of astrology has an equivalent synastry/composite system but I doubt it. Western astrology is pretty sophisticated when it comes to the psychology of people.PixieJaneI've found it useful to incorporate Chinese astrology into the western. I am also a double (day+year) Fire Dragon (Aries). My fiancé is an Aries Sun, Mercury in 1H (Aries decan) with Pluto conj Dsc He is a double (day+year) Pig (Scorpio) and this fits all my Cancer planets which are in the Scorpio decan well plus my Sun, Moon, Mercury are sq Pluto. We are:Cancer/(Chinese Aries)Aries/(Chinese Scorpio)So conclusion: there is plenty of Mars and Pluto between us to go around until the next lifetime Koho quote:Originally posted by PixieJane:I've found it useful to incorporate Chinese astrology into the western. It seems to me most people are bad at interpretations and would judge a 'bad' chart way too harshly. ikja quote:Originally posted by Koho: Oh gosh, I don't know if I want to live in that world. I can agree with this.I put up a composite a long time ago, and a Synastry chart along time ago of the charts of me and my ex boyfriend. Most people on here said that the synastry charts were friendly and the composite chart was boring. Obviously, no one wants to hear that (so I may be biased); and also, the posters who commented were not getting paid for an in depth analysis (so I cannot expect their devotion). However, when I looked at our charts ABIT more and consulted someone that I would say I really respect/trust on here, I was presented with a completely different spin on both charts. I will be honest, I guess their interpretation was more favourable and made me happier, but I found that their analysis better represented the relationship. Granted, let me be clear, the relationship was/is not seen to be perfect (we're struggling atm) but it was considered strong in terms of particular aspects.I can see why you say this about interpretation!DeepFreeze quote:Originally posted by Koho: Oh gosh, I don't know if I want to live in that world. I've looked up charts such as Bruce Lee. His chart is insane. It's like I say. If you can conquer a square, or at least harness it into something useful it could be better than a trine that you might take for granted. But it's all complex. GypseeWindMy guy friend is a cancer, I am saggie. Supposedly a bad mix, even though L.G. has very lovely things to say about this combo in love signs. We have some major squares going on in synastry (pluto/mars sq. and pluto/venus square DW) . BUT in Chinese astro I'm a horse and he's a dragon, which is a great match and that's how it feels in real life.My ex of 28 yrs is a cappy with cap venus and cancer moon, again not compatible with my sag/libra/scorpio stuff. But he is also a horse in Chinese astro. So I think there's something to it. Sometimes I post up my chart or charts I'm familiar with to see how everyone else analyzes it. I'm no novice so I don't usually need an outside analysis (except for the blind spots I have about myself). More often than not I'm dissatisfied with the interpretations. But I don't judge the people who took their time to give me info. They took 5-10 mins whereas I've looked at my chart over 2 years. On home turf my analysis will always be better. If we lived in a world where people judged by natals I'd be in trouble. I could easily see someone looking at my chart and seeing all the mars squares to my 8th house stellium with an exact moon saturn conjunction in 8th Cappy and make some sort of silly conclusion that a person with a chart like mine is a psychopath (I've gotten it before.) And sure, I can see why a person would think that. But it would tell me they missed how Big daddy jupiter blessed my chart and allowed me to grow out of my squares fairly early in life (as DeepFreeze suggested we can fix those squares)Usually when I decide to do my bit of service and read a chart for someone posting I'll pick something in that chart that I know extremely well and offer that single information. To go any further without taking time to fully synthesize would more likely lead to a failed reading. Sometimes a person can lock in and read a chart like a book though - a member named Helios read my chart once and he/she was incredibly impressive. I was also impressed with Vajra a few days ago. But in general most people won't easily intuit a chart and would require hours and hours to do it right.
