hearttreasure | What placement, aspect, or sign who tend to hide their true self for a need to be accepted / liked / approved by other people or simply just afraid about revealing? Or even maybe love to hide their (secret) activities from especially the partner and/or family & friends? Or almost like a self deceiving people? That it feels like when you tell the person all about her/his sun, moon, venus, mercury, etc, the aspects and all of those descriptions have been wronged by her/him that none is true. Why is this? |
headintheclouds91 | Afraid of revealing and hiding their secret activities sounds like scorpio/pluto types. Wanting to be accepted and liked sounds more like Libra/venus and pisces/neptune types. |
sarahhm | so i have the whole venus scorpio/pluto bit, pisces in my first house, alot of cap, aq as a rising sign. i do hide some parts of my true self but it's less to do with manipulation or anything tittering on the darker reasons and more to do with that i feel like it helps me hold onto my autonomy to have some things for myself. my own secret garden i guess. to show it all would be to totally show my true self but at the same time, i don't want to be all out. with the lack of privacy in the world with social media and all that, i put a value on having some space for me to breathe and also i don't like the idea of giving too much of myself out because it's like ill dissolve into everything if you know what i mean. i hope i'm making sense. it keeps me grounded. for everyone else - i can modify and show traits to make them comfortable or whatever but the whole of me is for the whole of me. |
lalalinda | This sounds more like an aspect rather than a placement. If the Sun or Moon is square the Ascendant, they will hide who they are in an effort to not make waves or go with the flow. This is because the Asc and Sun/Moon are out of sync.------------------ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step...Lao Tzu |
erickaf | Sun/Moon squared. |
DopGang | ^^^ Agree with these two posts! I was looking at several charts of people that I know or have known and it totally fits! |
hearttreasure | What about sun placement in 12th house or neptune hard aspect to personal planet or moon hard aspect to venus especially the opposite? |
lalalinda | hi, Sun in the 12th house? possibly if it is the chart ruler.Neptune aspects to the luminaries? no, they don't hide anything they change (evolve) their stance. ------------------ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step...Lao Tzu |

My Moon and Ascendant are squared and this is very true. I feel like my Taurus Asc keeps my Aquarius Moon at bay, unless around those I'm close to and except my weirdness |
waxlobster | Ummm who is to define a 'true self'? Aren't we all a combination of many facets? I've never met anybody who doesn't seek approval / acceptance in some area of their life. Is that what this question means... if so look to the condition of Venus and Libra placements for where one wishes to please and be pleased the most. |

Do you mean people whom you interpret a chart for and they respond with "that is nothing like me"? Many Caps I know do that.Cancer,Aquarius and Gemini too. Some people don't like to be "figured out" and so they will rubbish things such as psychology or astrology.

hearttreasure | ^^ lol. I'm not really an expert to read the whole natal chart. I usually just say the basic but pretty much I've seen it in daily life. Yeah, some people do not like to be "figured out", some would love to know who they are in the eyes of the outsider.. |
Faith | Honest to God, I keep seeing this thread title and wondering, "What IS a true self, anyway?" Pisces moon square Neptune |
moongaze | Definitely Sun square Ascendant. I have it in Sun in Cancer and an Aries Ascendant. I come off much more outgoing and confident than I really am when deep inside I'm very shy and quiet. I notice that I tend to attract other outgoing people who expect me to act similar to them, and then they end up disappointed when they find I am not as naturally whimsical and expressive as they are. It can suck at times because people who I would get along with usually don't like me at the beginning until they get to know me, so it can be harder to make friends. But I've learned to cope with it throughout the years and Astrology has made me much more aware now, so I try not to let my square affect me. I would also say 12th house placements in general too. I have my Pisces Moon there, so I can be very secretive and rarely tell even my closest relatives some intricate stuff about myself. I usually repress my feelings because I tend to feel naked and overexposed if I tell other people. |

I remember when 'Big Brother' was first a big show in the UK and most of the contestants spent their gossip time describing people as "not being themselves". It suddenly became a fashionable slur. Another preoccupation they had was whether somebody was there as a spy or a 'plant'. So funny. They were on live TV after all..... Authenticity in my opinion is about the inner journey…others’ judgement is not so relevant!

snobbykat | Scorpio rising constantly is changing and not showing people the real them. I'm a Scorpio rising and privacy is really big to me. I have aspect in my natal chart that make this even more apparent but I can't remember them off the top of my head. Also Pluto square Ascendant I think. Since the planet Pluto signifies rebirth. Correct me if I'm wrong. |
