T O P I C R E V I E WleosuncancervenusSo I recently met someone who I have south node contacts with: conjunct Mars/Mercury, trine Neptune/Mars, Mercury opposite SN, and SN in opposition to Pluto. I think I am the planet person with the exception of the Mercury opposition. I can’t find much info on SN connections, does anyone have any experience with these aspects? I know SN points to past lives, and I do find myself incredibly attracted to him and vice versa, but I’ve read that there is a feeling of being held back? The entire chart feels very intense. Here are our other aspects if anyone feels like sharing their personal experience/insight, all degrees are 0-3:Sun sextile MercurySun sextile Mars Saturn square Sun Saturn square VenusSun trine PlutoMoon Sextile Sun Mercury sextile VenusVenus opposite Moon Pluto opposite Venus Mars trine Sun/VenusJupiter trine MarsJupiter sextile PlutoUranus trine Jupiter/Saturn Neptune trine Jupiter/Saturn Pluto opposite Jupiter/Saturn Pluto square Uranus sashavittoriaLeosun, that's a lot! I am especially interested in nodal synastry so I will try to answer to the best of my limited knowledge... This is a great resource by the way: https://starscopestoday.com/tag/south-node-synastry-soul-mates/ - It goes into detail by planet but not by aspect. It seems like you were someone important in his past life. With the Mercury/Mars aspects, you may have been competitive siblings or neighbors in a sexual relationship - lots of possibilities. You probably contributed to his intellectual development but may have also dominated him intellectually or put him down. With his Mercury also opposite your SN, it was definitely an intellectual relationship, maybe you were in a school setting together - perhaps competitive classmates or your were a domineering teacher? With your Pluto also opposite his SN that would be my bet. However you have listed Mars twice and I'm not sure if you are the planet person in the conjunction or the trine. What signs and houses are your nodes in?I'm very interested to see what others more experienced than me will think.South Node contacts don't only hold you back but indicate some unfinished business. With these tight current aspects it looks like that is the case here. Sometimes you have to complete the lessons of the SN before you can move on. It seems to me like he has come to you in order to finish this karmic lesson. There is potential for good growth.leosuncancervenus quote:Originally posted by sashavittoria:Leosun, that's a lot! I only just learned about the nodes and how important they are, especially when relating to another person romantically or otherwise. Our synastry definitely mentioned that we have come together to attempt to shed our overall attitudes towards love in the sense where we are both very afraid of being taken advantage of again. Synastry also mentioned that it’s a test, so unless we learn from the past and put trust into each other we are doomed to repeat whatever unhealthy behaviors we picked up along the way (this is esp true for me.) As soon as I saw him I felt something very intense and acted upon it immediately. We also have quite a large age gap as I’m 7 years older than him. The aspects we have together are so intense it scares me because I have fallen victim to mental and emotional abuse many times.. I wonder if it’s just a passing lesson though. I would like it to be permanent, but maybe that’s not the case? He feels very familiar and now I understand why. His North node is in Cancer house 3, mine is in Sagittarius house 1. I’m having trouble locating our South Nodes though, I’m using astro.com. I do know that my karmic lesson is to stop the cycle of codependency and focus on myself, to not distract myself through my relationships with others which is extremely hard. There is a looot of physical tension between us, but the relationship feels very positive overall. I pull really positive tarot cards literally every time I do a reading on this situation, but it’s still very confusing for me and a lot to take in at once. Tarot pointed to the fact that he’s innocent and inexperienced but has a lot of love to give. We got Two of pentacles, The Lovers, and The World. I also pulled a clarifying card which was 7 of pentacles so I assume that means patience and work is required which is to be expected. I’m not sure what the purpose is yet but I do see a lot of people mentioning SN synastry as a negative, although it does feel very good to me. I love feeling “at home” with people, having heavy Cancer influences in my chart and all.. but it does leave the issue of codependency wide open. sashavittoriaThe South Node is always opposite the North Node, so his NN in Cancer H3 means his South Node is in Capricorn in H9. Your NN in Sagittarius H1 means your SN is in Gemini H7. I know someone else with your same nodal placement exactly. I recommend reading up on each of your individual paths to see where you're each heading in your own lives.I also recommend looking at a composite chart to see how the relationship will play out overall. I wouldn't write off a relationship for any particular synastry aspect, including South Node.
