dribaby | I know sun square synastry is hard in synastry but is it possible for it to last in a marriage or long term relationship? I have this aspect with my boyfriend and we do have issues with power struggles both ways since we have a double whammy but the thought of us not working out is devastating. So far is good but can it work in a long term relationship? Tell me your experiences |
abrightfutureahead | To me this aspect alone stands for long term abuse in the relationship. As the sun is aspected to Nessus it would indicate to me physical abuse, but it may be possibly emotional or financial abuse if this sounds fit. Nessus touching the luminaries always spells some form of abuse to me. Perhaps you may stay in a marriage with this configuration because of some codependency issues you need to address. Sometimes people are unaware of a controlling partner who is emotionally abusive because of their own abusive children makes them susceptible to attract abusers, and do not realise they are putting up with such behaviour as it’s a normal dynamic they see within their close family and childhood experiences. Just my thoughts on this x |

He's not controlling on a dangerous level as what you described but he does try to change certain things about myself which sometimes is annoying but besides that, there's no emotional abuse or codependency going on. I never knew sun square pluto to be dealing with abuse |

Would this be the same for the opposition? |
abrightfutureahead | Hey I’m so sorry Ladies. I had a glass of wine last night and meant to click on the topic below yours which involved Nessus. What I said was completely not relevant to your question at all! 🙈 sun square Pluto I don’t see as a dealbreaker in a Synastry chart, quiet the contrary. Yes, power struggles are likely, but if there are good communication dynamics going on in the chart - positive Jupiter aspects - Mercury contacts with trines/sextiles with personal planets, I see sun square Pluto to be linked to friction and sexual passion. This is if the energy is challenged correctly, and you decide to use this energy in the bedroom rather than by having trivial arguments where both parties insist on being right x |
Jupitarian | I would like to know about the opposition! |
sassaqua | Also of course, it is likely that the person who's Sun is squared (or opposed) has this in their natal chart. And so.. that person will experience it with most people anyhow. Hope you enjoyed your wine abrightfutureahead |

I mean synastry |
sassaqua | If your natal does not have it, it will be a new experience for you. It may be challenging to navigate because: Pluto. Also, because he's older, he will have lots of upperhands on both accounts (including the Pluto square Sun aspect). It depends on the whole synastry though, because the balance of the charts needs to be weighted. Post the charts and aspects for more information |

capricorncheriscty | Sun square any planets Saturn to Pluto is pretty crazy in synastry. Your battling someone's inner and essential ego (Sun) with powerful outer forces that force you to change (outer planets). Best thing is to just learn from it and try to stick it out. That's hard for some people though because our Sun and Moon are the true us inwardly and then you have these big outer planets that force you to be more outward that want you change who you really are to, not out of spite or to hate who you really are, but to develop yourself in massive ways in that relationship. A lot of people don't like this, usually when luminaries are square outer planets and not much else backing it up it seems like the relationship can start off beautifully but easily and quickly fall apart over the years. If they even stick for the years. You just need to learn from it. |
sassaqua | Actually, while it's challenging, there are worse to have with Pluto. I recall that, because Sun is such a strong egoistic planet, it is one - perhaps the best - planet that can go up against Pluto and stand up to his "habits" in a manner that is more likely to bring respect and an even playing field. More that other planets that just don't have the capacity to cope under the same aspect because the energies are not at all compatible, and can get trampled over. Pluto and Sun are both interested in power and flexing a bit of power. They are also ok to push against something else to derive some feedback on themselves. So there is a bit of recognition and sympathy between these planets. I guess other dependent factors to consider are: how strong is the Sun in the natal chart? And how dirty can that Pluto get (how is the Pluto aspected)? It's sometimes good to have a bit of ego challenge in a relationship too, to flex a bit and establish boundaries and identities (growth). The square with these two is definitely better than the inconjunct/quincunx: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/204947.html

I agree. I've also heard that the square is a soulmate aspect due to how much you learn and transform from the relationship. Interesting

StoneMoon | I am really eager to hear more about this. I have just started a new relationship with someone, and my pluto squares his sun. In natal he has Sun Sextile Pluto and Pluto square Venus, plus Pluto opposite Moon to some degree. So he is familiar with the energy. I am fairly Plutonian myself. The rest of the synastry is quite impressive, but I am waiting on his time of birth to post. Personally, I am a big fan of Pluto in my synastries. I feel empty without it..We do have significant Saturn as well. |

Be prepared for alot of power struggles and passionate feelings going from love to hate at times. Sometimes it's too much to deal with but the bond is so unbreakable

StoneMoon | I am hoping the Pluto trine Venus comes in to play here... among other things. And our ages. We both have been through a lot and appear to be on equal playing fields spiritually and emotionally. Let's pray maturity and wisdom count for something! |

If it's any consolation, my brother and his wife has Pluto square/trine Sun DW. They have been together 10+years and going strong. But extreme love-hate is a possibility and may lead to separation if one or both parties cannot handle the intensity or have huge egos. In the early years they had fights and power struggles but they stuck together. At least one has to be more forgiving and it is my sister-in-law. My brother says they don't fight so intensely anymore so I believe this aspect can be managed, given time, patience and maturity. |
