T O P I C R E V I E WsomethingexcellentI read this here somewhere but I forget who wrote it. So, apparently, to determine height, you look to your Ascendant's sign. BUT! The signs don't have fixed heights, rather, it's how long that sign rises (or, how long the AC is in the sign) that determines your height. Now, to determine that! Where you live one the globe affects how these lengths. It must have to do with longitude and latitude. And time of the year too, as the planet isn't perfectly aligned with the Sun.Look at it like this: there are 24 hours in a day, and twelve signs, so two hours a sign, right? Well, where you live and what time of the year it is can actually skew that. Example: On any given day, Leo may take two hours and forty minutes compared to, say, Capricorn only getting an hour and twenty. Going by that, someone with a Leo rising born on that day will be tall(er than average?) contrasting the shorter Capricorn rising. So really, the pattern is complex and produces diverse results. I've noticed in some places, like Finland (don't ask), the AC will spend a long amount of time in some signs then SWING through others.anonymidarknessTrue in my case.5’10” could be considered tall for a 1st decan scorpio rising who are supposed to be short according to descriptions,Scorpio took about 3 hours on the day I was born.anonymidarkness..peregrinei am 5'10 and a half i wouldn't mention the half but i paid so much for it when i took hgh when i was 17/18. should have took it earlier. ugh. yaygirlthecatI'm 5'10", which is very tall for a girl and I am a pisces ascendant. I am even tall compared to others in my family. somethingexcellent^That IS very tall! How long was the AC in Pisces on the day you were born?SagittariusRisingBoo!I have 2nd decan Sagittarius on the Ascendant and I'm only 5'6"! Furthermore, I'm among the shorter ones on BOTH sides of the family. My sister and brother also have Sag rising and they're both 5'10".Should we look to other planets aspecting the Ascendant? Or any Saturn/Capricorn (rules the bones)?yaygirlthecat quote:Originally posted by somethingexcellent:^That IS very tall! The idea is that if it takes a long time to get to the next sign, you'll be taller. yaygirlthecat quote:Originally posted by somethingexcellent:Oh, I mean, how long did it take for the AC to exit Pisces after entering it. And I am almost seven inches taller than my mom, for instance. starfairy"In the northern hemisphere, the signs of Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus and Gemini take much less time than the theoretical two hours to cross the eastern horizon, whilst the signs of Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius take much longer than two hours to do so. For example, at the latitude of Paris, France:Pisces, Aries and Gemini take only about fifty-five minutes to cross the eastern horizon (this is referred to as the length of ascension or simply as the sign's ascension)Aquarius and Taurus have an ascension of only about seventy minutesCancer and Sagittarius have an ascension of around two and a half hoursLeo, Virgo, Libra and Scorpio have ascensions of around two hours and forty-five minutesAt higher latitudes, these differences become even more marked. At the latitude of St. Petersburg, Russia:Pisces and Aries ascend in only thirty minutesAquarius and Taurus ascend in only forty-five minutesCapricorn and Gemini ascend in an hour and a halfactually individual degrees near Sagittarius or Cancer ascend twice as slowly as those near Aquarius or TaurusSagittarius and Cancer ascend in two hours and forty minutesLeo, Virgo, Libra and Scorpio take as much as three hours and fifteen minutes to ascendAstrologers consider the differences between the rate at which the signs ascend to be of importance. In many house systems, houses can become very large when they cover Aquarius, Pisces, Aries and Taurus because these signs are seen to be much smaller from the perspective of a northern hemisphere observer. Some astrologers, such as Richard Nolle, consider the preponderance of Ascendants in signs from Cancer through Sagittarius (known as the western signs) to be symbolic of the highly relationship-oriented character inherent in a complex or civilized society as found today in the northern hemisphere but never developed in equatorial or south temperate latitudes where eastern (Capricorn through Gemini), individual-oriented Ascendants are equally or more common.[5]In the southern hemisphere, long and short ascension are reversed. For instance, at the latitude of Concepción, Chile:Pisces and Aries ascend in two hours twenty minutesAquarius and Taurus ascend in two and a half hours (see note about ascension in low latitudes above)Capricorn and Gemini ascend in two hours twenty minutesSagittarius and Cancer ascend in almost exactly two hoursScorpio and Leo ascend in about ninety minutesLibra and Virgo ascend in about seventy-five minutes" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascendant#Long_and_short_ascension So basically, you're saying that people whose Ascendant signs have a longer ascension will be taller than average? Hmm, interesting...I'm a Sag rising and I'm 5 foot 10, and the Ascendant was definitely in Sag for a long time the day I was born. I'm in the Northern Hemisphere. Alan Leo wrote that having Uranus conjunct the Ascendant in certain signs (I think Sag, Aqua, and something else) indicates an unusually tall height, so I always just left it at that.
