uhm... relationship related posts account for the majority of the posts made in 2.0 and a quarter of the other "busier" sections of LL. At least 3/4 of the newflakes that come out of the woodwork are here for just that purpose. I can only imagine the actual numbers in traffic received here that are really only interested in the same thing... lol ~ go post-mining sometime... (lol) It's nothing new!People always want justification/validation for their feelings/luck (or lack thereof) with romance, and answers (that they can consider "fated")... well, it makes things more romantic! Things are prettier with that bright red bow of "oh look! We're star crossed,"!!! It goes well with the rosy-tinted glasses most are already putting on/taking off...
No seriously though... all the popular astrology crap out there today promote "Meet your match sign by sign", "finding your soulmate in the stars" "the signs and you, how to attract him/her" etc... ~ I mean sure, you can find plenty of career astrology articles and books, but love/romance is always the more in demand... lol
Forget that astrology has any other uses, a history, mechanics... it's all about Amore!
(my favourite observations are when the object being reviewed changes week to week)
~ it must be pretty easy to write astrology books these days... I think anyone can do it... just market it for singles and fill it with nonsense about each Sun+Venus sign (don't separate them though, just mush it together), throw in a few witty examples of said sign in action using popular (cliche couples) celebrities, make up some mumbo jumbo all affirming what they want to hear, how well x works with y... you don't want to make things too difficult, so don't write all too much about other details that actual astrology would say to look at and why, or anything on any other variables at play in synastry, no big words... but without being complex, explain the ever generic y sign doesn't go with b sign, stereotype. Voila!!! make money!~ People will buy into anything as long as they don't have to A) work too hard to understand things on their own, or feel at all burdened by the writing presented, and B) feel the truth of the situation is ever more complicated, or near impossible despite their delusions of romantic bliss with whichever candidate they are looking into... You don't want them to feel at all defeated... then, you won't get any good reviews, and nobody will buy your crap... affirmation is key... agree and pretend to understand everything... you got all the answers... for 14.99, they can own their own copy of exactly how each person will behave based on one tiny planet in a sea of billions! Anyone can understand it! Even a chimpanzee!~ They got a wounded heart, play it up... they got a magnetic attraction that cannot be denied no matter how many times their would-be lover puts them down or tries to shake them, you know exactly what they're going through and why... they have mommy-daddy issues preventing them from ever connecting with another person but really want to find the right one for them, you have the ever elusive answer! ~ and for each one... sign B!!! sign B!!! sign B!!! oh aren't they lucky!!! sign B!!!! See, easy-peasy! $$$
I love it! <3

I love LL, don't get me wrong... but, I swear there are soooooo many of these things going on, even here.... it grates me. There is a huge difference in offering someone compassion, support, hope and taking advantage of their situations, or promoting ignorance, and when actually advising some to take a healthy dose of the "reality-check", is almost unheard of in comparison.
I'm all for hopes and dreams! But, sometimes... uh, sometimes!!!!! *scream*!!!
(on the plus side, I see why so many of the elder LLers *those that remain* seem to congregate in other forums here and not dwell among the actual astro-areas so much even though they are greatly knowledgeable in astrology. They got bored with it eons ago! So they only post when things are particularly of interest or unusual somehow.)
