T O P I C R E V I E WjuniperbThe conservative Donald Trump a discriminator or beauty pageants in general... quote:Miss Universe Canada officials have banned 23-year-old transsexual Jenna Talackova from participating in the pageant finals to be held in Toronto in May, 2012. The Vancouver contestant was one of sixty-five women chosen to compete in the national contest (which is owned by Donald Trump). The Daily Mail Reports that Denis Davila, national director of Miss Universe Canada, asserts that every contestant must be a "naturally born female." Critics of the decision claim that the rules do not specifically address sex change or plastic surgeryPerhaps beauty pageants need a constitution http://shine.yahoo.com/beauty/miss-universe-canada-disqualifies- transsexual-contestant-she-born-192000420.html ------------------Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. ~Rumi~Randall LexxigramerHmmmmm.....I think perhaps it should be the same for beauty pageants and body building competitions. She was not born a female.Sorry, but when competing against bio females without enhancements,it is the same as natural body builders competing against steroid enhanced and or surgically enhanced competitors.I would disqualify any contestant who has had any kind of artificial enhancements or surgery to "correct" anything from a nose to their gender appearance. The thing to do is have a totally natural pageant, no breast implants, nose jobs, or sex change. Then also have an anything goes pageant, plastic surgery or enhancements allowed.I hope I made sense.LexxigramerOn further consideration,if any other contestants have had plastic surgery to enhance their beauty, then yes,it is stretching the concept a bit far,but plastic surgery enhancement is enhancement/artificial,whether it be a sex change or a boob or nose job etc.,sooooooooooooby that token, let her compete as a woman.StawrYes that makes sense Lexx, and those are some very good points. RegardesPlateroI think that it depends on whether the rules were clearly stated at the beginning or not.If it wasn't in the rules when she started competing, it's not fair to renege and pull the rug out from under her. It's not fair to just suddenly say "oh wait, you can't be in it, you're disqualified" if the rules did not specify this explicitly from the get-go.Pageant officials should make the rules very clear for future possible participants so as to be fair to all who would hope to enter.juniperbTrump Org. stepped in and allowed her to enter.Trump Won't Bar Transsexual Beauty Queen From Shot at Miss Universe Canada TitleJenna Talackova, the Canadian beauty queen, won't have to fight Donald Trump for a chance to compete for the Miss Universe Canada title after all, even though she was born a he. Talackova is everything you think of when you hear the words "beauty queen." With her bright smile, flowing blonde hair and viciously long legs, you can't deny she's stunning. But Talackova, 23, was first disqualified from the Miss Universe Canada competition because she was born a male, according to CTV. Talackova was originally selected as one of 65 finalists for the Donald Trump-owned competition and her profile and photos were pulled from the Miss Universe Canada website. But the Trump organization has reversed its decision, announcing today that it won't attempt to keep Talackova out of the contest. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/trump-wont-b ar-transsexual-beauty-queen-shot-miss-002156320--abc-news-celebrities.html ------------------Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. ~Rumi~
