Bucketrider | I think ceres is as important as mars and should be seen as a legitimate planet and not an asteroid. It is about half the size of pluto and makes up 1/3 of all the mass in the asteroid belt. It is the only body in the asteroid belt that is circular (has achieved hydrostatic equilibrium). Anyone agree? It comes up again and again in aspect in synastry charts. I went through a saturn square ceres transit this past year which involved a move away from close friends and a prolonged estrangement from a family member which only resolved itself after the transit. It seems to be about nurturing, family style. Not romantic or friendly.

Got Gemini? | Hmmm... Interesting, I have to take a look... ------------------ Virgo Asc & Mars Gemini Sun Libra Moon (conjunct Pluto 0š in 2nd house) Gemini Mercury Cancer Venus And yes, i'm a guy! |
Bucketrider | Heres why ceres, vesta and pallas are different than the rest of the asteroids and have much clearer astrological effects than the rest (aside from juno which may also eventually be found to be a protoplanet). http://www.agu.org/pubs/crossref/2006/2006EO100002.shtml |
librasunleomoon | I agree It like the moon is about nurturing and family |
Plutonian Persona | I am in total agreement also. I include Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, and Juno in all my synastry grids because they DO have a very large effect on one's chart. Thanks to Pallas being at 15 Aquarius in my chart, I have a fixed Grand Cross! Oh, the horror! :-) |
Diandra23 | i always include Ceres as well in sinastry and i look at it in natals too. Ceres is taken as the asteroid rulling Virgo in Wikipedia an as a Virgo,i find it important to look. I have it in my 5th very lonely-i love children and i want to be a Mom,i am very nurturing myself. in sinastry with my very beloved bf my own Ceres conj his Moon exact. Itīs as if i must nurture and take care of him,and his emotions. I feel very drawn to him in a calm way - smooth and kind love, generous and incondicional. |
belgz | I have ceres in 6th trine my moon and as its in the house of pets im obsessed with my cat!! LOL 7 years and i love her more and more and shes the only thing in this world i protect and really care about. Heres a picture of my princess Kimbba lol Shes a cappy sun Venus in sag Taurus moon (omg very stubborn) MArs in pisces ------------------ ASC: Virgo Sun: Cancer Moon: Gemini Mars: Cancer Mercury: Cancer Venus: Leo |
LadyNeptune | awww, your cat is so cute! It's cool you know her chart. My ceres is in my 12th house...i don't know what it means. I'm nurturing in seclusion?? |
CoralFrequency | I completely agree. Ceres always comes up in natal and in synastry. Besides, now that Ceres is considered a dwarf planet along with Pluto - I really think it should be given more importance. |
vesta-sister | LadyNeptune, Ceres in twelfth - karmic themes in responsiblities and development of empathy and understanding for the suffering of others. May sybolize experiences such as loss, illness, rejection, and denial of one's parents or children. The key to relieving ones grief is to extend love and assistance to those in pain or need. The potential to nurture the entire universe, and connection to higher reality through unconditional love. Maria Montessori - ceres in 12th in Leo an educator of impoverished and disadvantaged children. This will also depend on the house and other aspects to understand your own position better. |
vesta-sister | Diandra23, Ceres in 5th - the experience of nurturing issues through a strong involvement with children or the creative arts. One is nourished through play or through putting oneself in risky situations. |

vesta-sister | ceres /moon aspects a personality who has a deep longing to be needed by others and to exchange emotional energy with them. The need is fulfilled through giving selflessly to others and nurturing one's surroundings. stressful aspects - the conflict is between meting one's own personal needs and those of the family. There can be seperation anxiety, fears of rejection, and feelings of isolation. The denial of emotional fulfillment can be healed if the individual becomes sensitive to the emotional needs of others and strives to form an emotional bond/bridge with them which is mutually supportive. |
darkdreamer | I agree, Ceres is significant in synastry and natals. I have Ceres in Pisces in 3rd house conjunct my Jupiter, and I have always felt very protective towards my two brothers. Apart from that I am quite protective of my thoughts and my mind I think. For example I can stand it if someone stands behind me watching how I type. It feels like he would be intruding my mind this way. Weird, isn`t it? Probably we should give Juno, Vesta and pallas more credit, too. DD

darkdreamer | I`ve found this article on Ceres. http://www.astrologicalconsultingservices.com/blog/2007/06/ceres-urge-to-belong_7360.html "A strong Ceres can point to food disorders. A Ceres/Saturn combo can get anorexic while a Ceres/Jupiter can go bulimic." Well, I have Ceres conjunct Jupiter and even though I am not bulimic, I am an "overeater". I also thought this quote was interesting:
" Ceres loves to eat, to touch, to sense.By her element your senses will be sharpened. In fire she smells, in air she sees, in water she hears, in earth she touches and tastes. She governs your taste buds and shows where you need to be touched. " "When Persephone departs for Hades in your life, Ceres feels it. There‟s a dark void that opens in your heart, a rip in space and time that sends you spiraling. Ceres is all about surrender, the actual act of surrender, of "melting to the highest"
"She‟s come to teach us to respect nature and to visualize abundance. She alone knows the true secret of fertility. She alone holds the key to serenity, security, and a deep sense of belonging. " |
Deliverance | Belgz, Kimbba is a very cute cat...... awwww, its she a kitten? She has a young face. |
Bucketrider | There does seem to be separation and possibly grief which goes with ceres when its in hard aspect or in aspect to saturn, pluto or uranus. On the last day of a job, when I left an apt, or seprarated from a good friend, the sun was either conjunct my ceres or ceres was in hard aspect to my sun, moon, mercury or venus. Its not like jupiter where any aspect is an easy or "good" aspect. |
Diandra23 | thanks Vesta for your explanation - it makes sense what you said about the ceres in the 5th,also my bf has it in the 5th btw. We do love children and to nourish them! |

joyrjw | I have Ceres Virgo 3rd house This description is pretty accurate for me... My sisters babysat me a lot, my mom is a Virgo, I was going to be a psychologist or dietitian and enjoy making things like soap, woodburning and such. (I don't know about being excellent at it though lol) http://tribes.tribe.net/astrologylovers/thread/12dc4652-39e0-43b5-8eb1-c39c3e10ace7 Ceres in Virgo is strongly placed, and fosters a sense of service to others, a love of work, and a feeling of competence. This placement leads to excellence in craftsmanship, but under stress can bring a perfectionist attitude. Parents may be overly critical, or one's inner parent may never be satisfied with the result. Work in the health services or food industry is common with this placement. Ceres in the Third House: Nurturing could have been provided for you by brothers and sisters, or even neighbors. Conversely, you could have been the one nurturing them. Your words tend to be nurturing. This could be a good placement for a therapist or counselor. |

Well, I will disagree a little about 'romantic and friendly'. Ceres is about being able to give and to receive in healthy and balanced ways (i.e., not using power games). This is not limited to family only. This plays a big role in successful relationships. |
