I have never felt comfortable in the presence of those who live a mediocre privileged life, often finding a dispassion toward those in need. Or in other words, I do not feel comfortable around people who are insensitive to the inner turmoil of others. My Mars in Libra allows me insight into social injustice; Eris conjunct my Ascendant shines a light into dark corners, encouraging me to forge ahead in an Arian fashion. Usually, this starts with any injustice that affects ‘Me’ first. I move like the Ram and will tackle head-on any ideal/action that keeps me from achieving my personal goals. I use my ideals to advocate for anyone, within my realm, who may be disadvantaged by the actions of others. I must use the wile of Eris when I choose my battles. As I get older, I look to see how a Ram can climb a brick wall.Transit ErisOn the day Eris was named Eris, transit Eris was conjunct a person’s North Node by 0°. In a sense, the mythological Golden Apple was thrown at their destiny. They, quite unexpectedly, were challenged to act on their impulses through a transformation and rebirth of their sexuality. North Node in Aries is one lesson on independence. Eris brought a loss of innocence, and an intense inner enlightenment that created a dilemma, a yearning of soul connection, an “opposing viewpoints to reveal each side more clearly, to seek similarities as well as differences; contrasting logical thought processes to show the limitations of logic”. Delving into their inner motivations created confusion, elation, dying and rebirth. This person’s North Node’s direction is to use their independence to advocate for others. They took the lesson transit Eris threw them and applied it to their destiny. Transit Eris created a stepping stone to further their career in a new direction to lead others in areas of advocacy. This is only the beginning of investigating this planet. This dwarf planet was going to be one of three names: Eris, Persphone and Xena. All female, and all with an element of Depth, Power and Transformation. Eris crosses Pluto and Neptune’s orbit, possibly reaping all the depths and secrets these powerful planets hold. I agree with Glaucus in that Eris can open the field to greater thinking of minority groups. It could be racial relations stuff like the racial divide, interracial relationships, interracial marriages, interracial family connections, and interracial parentage. It could be the multiracial. It would be great to get together on things and discuss and see how our ideas are in cohesion even though they can be divergent from each other. Diversity is a splendid thing in my opinion. I think that there is more to it. That's like saying Pluto is just about the underworld because Pluto/Hades is the God of theunderworld. Juan Revilla made good points that we can't just rely on the name of the object for its astrological meaning. Uranus/Ouranos personality traits fit more with Prometheus(the Titan who stole fire from the gods to give to mankind) than the god, Uranus even though Uranus/Ouranos was the sky god. Neptune personality traits fit more with Dionysus/Bacchus(The God of the Vines/Wine) even though Neptune/Poseidon was the sea god. I looked at some asteroid stuff in regards to that. Juan Revilla said that it's important to consider the orbital symbolism of the objects.Philip Sedgwick takes into account the heliocentric nodes and perihelion/aphelion of the object.Astronomical-oriented astrologers including Philip Sedgwick, Juan Revilla, Zane Stein don't rely on the name of objects to derive meaning from it.Some of them suggested names to the astronomers that were accepted for some centaurs after studying their orbits, physical properties. Nessus was the first. http://www.zanestein.com/page4_2.htm this is what Philip Sedgwick saidStar Blogs ~ The Galactic TimesPlanet With No Name (Yet) ~ 02 Feb 2008"So if you were Neil Young traversing the desert night sky on a planet with no name, how could you derive any meaning for it? Two, assign interpretive delineations by pondering the sign and degree of critical orbital elements, specifically the node and closest point the body makes to the Sun."the closest point of the object makes to the sun is called thePerihelion. Here is some stuff by Juan Revilla who believes in the orbitalsymbolism should be used to determine an object's astrological meaning and not the name.ORBITAL SYMBOLISM IN ASTROLOGY http://www.expreso.co.cr/centaurs/essays/paradigm.html Zane Stein even added Persephone/Proserpina symbolism in his Eris keywords. Michael Brown wanted to name Eris "Persephone", and he even said that it was like Persephone. He said that half of the time, Eris orbits away from Pluto. But the names, "Persephone" and "Proserpina"were given to asteroids. Obviously, astronomers gave mythological names too readily. Michael Brown did give the name Eris after all the discord among the astronomers. Methinks..that there could be astrologers in discord. Many astrologers don't agree on many things in Astrology like orbs are hotly debated.I was thinking how Ceres and Pluto are made equals in Astronomy because of the discovery of Eris, and how it can seem similar to how Pluto/Hades and Ceres/Demeter shared equal amount of time with Proserpina/Persephone.Pluto got demoted to minor planet and assigned a minor planet number. Ceres got promoted to dwarf planet. Therefore, Pluto and Ceres are equals in astronomy. Pluto got the same treatment as Ceres. Ceres was classed as a planet but got it's planetary status stripped after the realization that it is one of many objects in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Now Pluto's planetary status is stripped after the realization that it is one of many objects in the Kuiper Belt. After they found Eris, the need to make a definition of what a planet is had to be made. Astronomers even hypothesize there could be a dozen Plutos out there and even some Mars-sized objects. that's one of the reasons that I believe Eris has to do with equal rights, civil rights issues.also Eris Perihelion is in Libra Pluto Perihelion happens to be in ScorpioPerihelion/Aphelion axis move so slow ....they are in the same sign for numerous centuries. the same with all perihelion/aphelion axis and heliocentric nodes of objects.Raymond LavleeAzalaksh` p.s- Venus is the true ruler of LibraBless you G for at least trying to stick to the subject of this little planet and not which sign it should rule sweetheart!GlaucusEris Sabian Symbol Discovery chart January 5, 2005Pasadena,California11:20 AMPlacement - 19'45 Aries Stationary DirectHeliocentric North Node - 5'58 TaurusHeliocentric South Node - 5'58 ScorpioHeliocentric Perihelion - 14'26 LibraHeliocentric Aphelion - 14'26 AriesThe following is from Lynda Hill's 360 DEGREES OF WISDOM :ERIS IN 19'45 ARIES STATIONARY DIRECT20 AriesSabian SymbolA Young Girl Feeding Birds In WinterCommentary: is an image of care, innocence, nurturing and benevolence. It doesn't change the fact that Venus is specifically involved with Libra, it just balances out all the signs so they have polar rulership.Aries - Mars/PlutoTaurus - Venus/ErisGemini - Mercury/CeresCancer - Moon/SunLeo - Sun/MoonVirgo - Ceres/MercuryLibra - Eris/VenusScorpio - Pluto/MarsSagittarius - Jupiter/NeptuneCapricorn - Saturn/UranusAquarius - Uranus/SaturnPisces - Neptune/JupiterI see Eris as the force which appears to "differentiate" one thing from another. Libra seeks balance and justice because they deeply understand imbalance and segregation. Eris is not a gentle force however, if we unconsciously allow her to go crazy, she will weave such a strong web of discord through our lives that we will always feel out of sync, competitive, or comparative. We will often experience inner (or outer) conflict from having an unbalanced internal understanding of our external world. The point of Eris in my experience is to teach us that conflict is an essential aspect of life, it reminds us we have forgotten the unified nature of the universe. Just like the myth of Eris, she will use Venus (the apple inscribed "To The Fairest") to inspire conflict. If we get caught up in the conflict, Venus may walk away satisfied, but the results will be more harm than good. Eris rules Libra over Taurus in my view, because Taurus is not as driven by separation as Libra. Taurus manifests Eris as a sub-ruler by using Venus to acquire as much comfort as possible, in order to differentiate "self" from other. Put into a simple phrase Taurus says, "I appreciate in order to separate". Taurus's archetypal "job" is to acquire qualities which help to sculpt and define the self. Libra seems to use Eris as a driving force to learn to better appreciate their world. Put into a simple phrase Libra says, "I separate in order to appreciate". Libra's archetypal "job" is to use perspective to narrow the gap between self and other. My Eris is conjunct my SN in the 12th, opposing my NN/Pluto in the 6th. I feel my whole point in life is to serve others in their transformation, but I am often held back by a feeling that I still haven't learned enough and fixed enough about my self to be worthy of helping others. My reaction is to isolate myself and spend the time analyzing my self and my issues. This results not only in me not living my purpose, but also isolation from the rest of the world (based on the misunderstanding that I am spiritually bettering myself). My Pluto and NN are both in Libra, so it is important for me to actively view myself in an introspective way. Alone time and introspection are healthy to my ability to relate with humanity and serve them. The extent to which I engage in being alone is ultimately more destructive than beneficial, and that's Eris.My Uranus is in Scorpio in the 7th House, DSC in Libra. I am highly attracted to Pisces/Aries/Aquarius/Scorpio people. They often play a mirror role in my life and tend to be an exaggerated opposite personality to my own. Eris' orbit is more unusual than Pluto for its not only it's more elliptical, but it is tilted 44.187 degrees relative to the plane of the solar system. Pluto's orbit is only inclined 17 degrees. That would reflect that Eris relates to being a nonconformist as well as being divergent.I believe that Eris has to do with stirring stuff up, controversy, ideology, civil/equal rights matters, standing up for self/others, advocacy, bigotry, racism, minorities, race relations, diversity, .....all those things are connected to each other too. It could be racial relations stuff like the racial divide, interracial relationships, interracial marriages, interracial family connections, and interracial parentage. It could be the multiracial. It could even be international relations. It could be like tolerance/intolerance of divergence, diversity, minorities (not necessarily race, ethnic...but even religion, sexual orientation, etc). It's the intolerance of divergents, diversity, minorities that lead to equal/civil rights issues.
Roy MacKinnon's Eris' Keywords: Striving to achieve one's goals and refusing to capitulate to the pressure of unjust treatment and discord from abusive authority : with great inner conviction and single-mindedness of purpose following a path of high attainment and enlightenment notwithstanding adversity - alternatively refusing the call to transform with mediocrity and underachievement as consequences: issues around power abuse of minorities, the defenceless, the alien: networks, multinational countries and companies, the world- wide web: piracy, terrorism, clash of ideologies: conflict between desires of personality and pursuit of the inner call: persecution of the spiritually aware person who stands alone courageously acting according to conscience: an outstanding individual ahead of the times.
Zane Stein's Eris Keywords: Loss of innocence, entrance into adulthood; child's trauma being separated from parent; acceptance of unavoidable changes; dying and being reborn (as opposed to Pluto which rules the causes/processes of death and rebirth); internal split causing longing to be whole, the longing of the soul for its other half; the subject/object of a debate, argument, competition, conflict or war...what stirs people to fight or disagree; fighting for one's rights; strife and discord; pitting one side against the other; competition, contests and tournaments; struggles for supremacy; rivalry; a test of skills or abilities; love of fighting or debate; what one has at stake in a competition, dispute or conflict, or one's perspective of what is being fought over; refusing to relinquish one's hold on an ideal, belief, cause, or object...'not budging an inch'; the problems resulting from irreconcilable differences; contrasting different perspectives; comparing thesis and antithesis in the search for truth; contrasting opposing viewpoints to reveal each side more clearly, to seek similarities as well as differences; contrasting logical thought processes to show the limitations of logic; identifying with, or trying to understand, first principles; incongruous juxtapositions to force one to think outside of the box; the ethics connected with one's motives and methods, and the coming to light of less than spotless methods; the roots of one's motivations; piracy, defrauding, swindling; society's ethics; race intent.
Francesco Schiavinotto's Keywords: Dam; Damming; Obstruction; Obliteration; To be opposite; Aversion for the Extraneous; To obstacle the Alien; False Adaption between Different Matters; Reciprocal Aversion; Feeling to be Invaded; Resistance; Incommunicability; Controversial Figure; Ecological Incompatibility; Underground Instability.
It's Eris' Co-Discoverer, Michael Brown that seemed to give the clue to Eris' meaning: "She causes strife by causing arguments among men, by making them think their opinions are right and everyone else's is wrong," Brown said. "It really is just perfect”. www-tech.mit.edu/V126/N38/38shorts2.html
Zane Stein even added Persephone/Proserpina symbolism in his Eris keywords. Michael Brown wanted to name Eris "Persephone", and he even said that it was like Persephone.

One thing I noticed in reading the "apple" story--something others seemed to overlook. It was that Eris was "left out", discriminated against. That fits well with your feelings about discrimination, etc.
In time, I think that Eris will take her place as the new ruler of Libra.

I can repost all my Eris posts here too. It would be cool for anybody to comment on them. It would be even more cool for anybody to post about Eris too. I love reading other people's ideas about Eris. It would be great to get together on things and discuss and see how our ideas are in cohesion even though they can be divergent from each other. Diversity is a splendid thing in my opinion. Compromising and agreeing to disagree instead of fighting and arguing.I think that's a positive way to use the Erisian energy.
I looked at the Sabian Symbol placements for Eris and its Heliocentric Nodes and Perigree/Apogee at the time of Discovery
Heliocentric North Eris Node is the point of Eris' orbit moving north through the ecliptical plane
Heliocentric South Eris Node is the point of Eris' orbit moving south through the ecliptical plane
Eris Perihelion is the point of Eris' orbit closest to the Sun
Eris Aphelion is the point of Eris' orbit farthest from the Sun

Astronomical-oriented astrologers including Philip Sedgwick, Juan Revilla, Zane Stein don't rely on the name of objects to derive meaning from it.
Some of them suggested names to the astronomers that were accepted for some centaurs after studying their orbits, physical properties. Nessus was the first. http://www.zanestein.com/page4_2.htm
this is what Philip Sedgwick saidStar Blogs ~ The Galactic TimesPlanet With No Name (Yet) ~ 02 Feb 2008
"So if you were Neil Young traversing the desert night sky on a planet with no name, how could you derive any meaning for it? One,consider its nature, uniqueness and physical profile. Two, assign interpretive delineations by pondering the sign and degree of critical orbital elements, specifically the node and closest point the body makes to the Sun."
the closest point of the object makes to the sun is called thePerihelion.
Here is some stuff by Juan Revilla who believes in the orbitalsymbolism should be used to determine an object's astrological meaning and not the name.
ORBITAL SYMBOLISM IN ASTROLOGY http://www.expreso.co.cr/centaurs/essays/paradigm.html
Zane Stein even added Persephone/Proserpina symbolism in his Eris keywords. Michael Brown wanted to name Eris "Persephone", and he even said that it was like Persephone. Many astrologers don't agree on many things in Astrology like orbs are hotly debated.
I was thinking how Ceres and Pluto are made equals in Astronomy because of the discovery of Eris, and how it can seem similar to how Pluto/Hades and Ceres/Demeter shared equal amount of time with Proserpina/Persephone.Pluto got demoted to minor planet and assigned a minor planet number. Astronomers even hypothesize there could be a dozen Plutos out there and even some Mars-sized objects. that's one of the reasons that I believe Eris has to do with equal rights, civil rights issues.
also Eris Perihelion is in Libra Pluto Perihelion happens to be in ScorpioPerihelion/Aphelion axis move so slow ....they are in the same sign for numerous centuries. the same with all perihelion/aphelion axis and heliocentric nodes of objects.
p.s- Venus is the true ruler of Libra
Bless you G for at least trying to stick to the subject of this little planet and not which sign it should rule sweetheart!

The following is from Lynda Hill's 360 DEGREES OF WISDOM :
ERIS IN 19'45 ARIES STATIONARY DIRECT20 AriesSabian SymbolA Young Girl Feeding Birds In Winter
Commentary: is an image of care, innocence, nurturing and benevolence. She brings nourishment to those who need it--this can be physically, emotionally or spiritually. It is "Winter," which shows that times may be lean and food or resources scarce. The "Young Girl" shows that even when the cold winds are around us, we can find joy through sharing or doing things for others. Long talks with those in need, be they family, friends,or,indeed strangers, can bring a sense of nurturing, reassurance, satisfaction, and love.
Keywords: Nurturing innocence. Feeding energy to situations that feel cold, hopeless, and lost. Small efforts bringing their rewards. Codependent relationships. Nurturing. Helping those less fortunate or smaller. Taking time out for others. Doing things without thought of reward. Enjoying nature. Trying to find friends or company. Bread and water. Soup kitchens. Counseling. Hot vs. cold weather
The Caution: Wanting to win approval. Creating dependence with others that has to be maintained. Feeling bleak, lost and alone. The need to continually rescue others. Doing anything in order to be liked. Finding it difficult to stop giving. Not being able to say "no." Feeling used and unrewarded.
Subjective Focus - What is most urgent to this bodyPerihelion 14'26 LibraSabian - Circular Paths
Commentary - symbolize a situation where there is a continual coming around back to the same place. It can picture a pattern of going around and around, with no real outcome and no sense of a final destination. In some instances, this can be good, as it can be rather meditative but it can also prove to be a very real waste of time.
Keywords: Going round and round. The orbits of the planets. Cosmic rhythms and cycles. The cycles of life. Things we feel we can trust. The secure path that never really leads anywhere. Crop circles. Realizing mistakes and learning from them. The wheels of progress. Merry-go-rounds. Circular machinery. Mazes and labyrinths. Chaos theory. Learning through repetition. Looking for somewhere to park.
The Caution: Being lost in abstractions or small details. Losing perspective from going around and around. Addictive cycles that are hard to get rid of. Boredom. Episodes that repeat themselves. Repeating the same actions or mistakes. Treadmills. Habits that are self-defeating.
Objective Focus - What is most effective use of this bodyAphelion 14'26 AriesSabian - An Indian Weaving A Blanket In The Light Of the Setting Sun
Keywords: The fabric of one's being. Traditional pastimes and skills. Weaving security and independence. Patience and gentle handcrafting. Stories, especially those handed down. Tales and traditions. Consideration of one's unique history. Weaving, spinning looms. The warp and weft of life. One's life story--past and present. Being focused on one's task. Colors, dyes. Threads.
The Caution: Underestimating skills of self expression in comparison with intellectual skillls. Allowing dull routines to overcome. Feeling one hasn't got much to contribute. Inability to apply routine and necessary tasks. Being too "full-time" about one's work. Feeling insecure no matter what the situation. Selling off one's integrity. Finding that it's too late in the day to get anything done. Not knowing when to stop.
Point of Intake - What This Planet is teaching humanityNorth Node 5'58 TaurusSabian - A Bridge being built across a high narrow gorge
Commentary: is about finding a creative and concrete solution to be able to cross to the other side of a separation or dilemma. There may be a separation or gulf, shown here by the "Gorge," between places, people,or objectives. "Bridges need to be built overcome separate areas of activity and to link people and places together.
Keywords: Overcoming distance and separation. Endeavoring to build continuity. Solving problems with creative solutions. Bridging emotional chasms. Spanning gaps. Breaking down barriers. Structures spanning distances between places or people. Conquering time and space barriers. Physical limitations overcome. Taking one step at a time. Avoiding looking down.
The Caution: Taking the long way round to avoid asking for help. Using shortcuts to cut across the real issue. Only seeing the risks, not the solutions to the problems. The fear of establishing connections. The pervading sense that it could all fall through at any moment. Extreme sports.
Point of Release - What humanity needs to releaseSouth Node 5'58 ScorpioSabian - A Gold Rush Tears Men Away From Their Native
Commentary: brings the temptation to chase the promise or riches, wherever they may be. There have been many "Gold Rushes" throughout history, and people often gamble their resources and their sense of security to chase the possibility of discovering treasures of rewards.
Keywords: strong desires to move on. The longing and the search for the easy fulfillment of hopes and dreams. Leaving one's native soil. Having a cause or mission to pursue. Leaving home, people, family. Dropping everything to chase a project. Pilgrimages. The search for riches. Immigration and migration. Listening to clues. The search for the Holy Grail. Pursuing a better life.
The Caution: Chasing the impossible dream. Losing everything. Being unrealistic or opportunistic. Not being content with what one's got. The grass being greener elsewhere. Lusting after rewards that may be unreal or transitory. Risking what one has for what could have. Wild goose chases.

I see Eris as the force which appears to "differentiate" one thing from another.
The extent to which I engage in being alone is ultimately more destructive than beneficial, and that's Eris.
My Uranus is in Scorpio in the 7th House, DSC in Libra. I am highly attracted to Pisces/Aries/Aquarius/Scorpio people. They often play a mirror role in my life and tend to be an exaggerated opposite personality to my own. All of it seems pretty Eris to me.

Every time I plug the warrior-type goddesses or the ones that shake things up into my chart, they always form some kind of important aspects to my luminaries, angles or NN, which is very funny to me for whatever reason.

As far as the whole Eris/sign debate goes, I've never really understood it; honestly I never really understand when anyone tries to give rulership of a sign to an...asteroid. Which isn't to say I think asteroids are useless; I know for a fact that they aren't. I don't see why everybody keeps trying to reinvent the wheel when astrology, with the rulers it already has, seems to work pretty well.
