Peluches | ALINDA, a seemingly love asteroid (I can hear the cheers.) that I dug out from Mark Andrew Holmes' (WONDERFUL, MAGNIFICENT !) website and that will hopefully be of interest to some of you. I don't believe it has ever been mentioned on LL before. quote: Alinda Asteroid 887, Alinda, was discovered on January 3, 1918 by Maximilian Wolf at Heidelberg, Baden-Wurttemburg, Germany. It has a period of 3 years, 329 days and is about 3 miles in diameter.
It was named either for an ancient Hittite city near what is now Karpuzlu, Aydin province, Turkey in the central part of the country which was a commercial center in ancient times and Roman Catholic diocese (since the 1970s in name only), or for a moon god in Yolngu Australian Aboriginal mythology. At the city Alinda, the Anatolian queen Ada of Caria, who had become a vassal of Persia, offered to adopt the conquering Alexander the Great and make him her heir if he would reinstate her on the throne, which he agreed to. The god Alinda drowned his sons for lying about catching nothing when he sent them out to catch fish, and in revenge their mothers torched his hut as he slept, but he rose into the sky and became the moon and decreed that all on earth would die, except him, who would only die for three days out of every month. Asteroid Alinda seems to mean: to kiss or make out (Damien Foor), concern for sex, sex or possibly aggressive actions backfiring.
http://markandrewholmes.com/alinda.html So, -- do I even need to ask this ? -- where's ALINDA in your synastry and composite ? |
Aubyanne | How on earth does one arrive at THAT interpretation given THAT information? Sounds more like a vengeance and brutality asteroid than anything! Possibly even cyclical violence, given the initial cruelty that brought revenge. |
Peluches | IKR ? I have absolutely no idea what's ALINDA's secret, but let's find out |
Peluches | On second thought, I suppose that interpretation was purely based on research studies and took very little (if any) of the initial information into account (mind you, that could be a good thing for an unbiased interpretation). |
Gabby | I can see aggressive actions, backfiring as a good interp for this asteroid, but the rest?? Huh?? Not a clue how it's dealing with kissing? |
Astro keen | Ok, I must admit that my relationship has been REALLY useful for checking astrological aspects. Always a silver lining! We've got an Alinda/ Venus DW, which seems to support the kissing/sex aspect more. My Alinda squares his Venus (0), Union (0) and Lust (1) - aggression will not suit or kissing is challenging (it isn't)? His Alinda is quincunx my Venus (0) |
Peluches | Sweet ! Well, it could mean both in my case. MARS-AURA-ALINDA (mine) conjunct DSC-JUPITER (his) NN-ALINDA (his) conjunct NYMPHE-NABOKOV (mine) |
Astro keen | Interesting that my Alinda is also conjunct my NN - by 1 degree. Now, would that make sex and kissing essential to our life purpose? |
Gabby | I hope it's about kissing!! Lol My Alinda is on his Jupiter both oppose my Mars His Alinda is on my cap Lust/his Amor square my libra Pluto/his Uranus/my Venus and both our name asteroids....(a nice sexy asteroid stellium) |
ail221 | Alinda opposite Mars/Sappho and conjunct Vertex & valentine yeah I'am going to keep the kissing interpretation. |

Very nice life path journey there, wish I could say that was what I was supposed to do to fulfill my life's purpose! Lol |

Yeah, it's always a bit wonky when they're THAT different. |

If you have read much of his site, 'MAH' You would know it comes from different people looking at numerous charts and also sometimes editing occurs. Just a thought. ------------------ Seimei, Jupiter Nadir |
