Gabby | What are their similarities and what are their differences? |
Aubyanne | I'd say they're almost polar opposites. NESSUS is very domineering and dominant. Obsessive and ego-driven. Lustful. Someone described it as 'uncontrolled desires'. That sounds about right to me. At its best, it breaks taboos and is unafraid to transcend boundaries based in society and social mores. It's also tied to cycles of abuse, where the 'sins of the father' predominate and can create dangerous impulses. PRIAPUS is a submissive energy with a desire to merge -- a powerful yearning to. PRIAPUS is lustful in a different fashion; it craves a deep union and feels a need to do this through sex. I've written extensively upon it -- and a bit on NESSUS as well. I can compile them? Are they very active in your tropical -- or synastry? |
ReadingTheStars95 | How tight would the orbs have to be for a conjunction to the Moon, with Priapus? Sorry, I don't mean to derail the thread at all.. I have it at 5 Sagi, and my Moon at 9 Sagi Outside of that, I have Draconic Priapus conjunct Natal Venus.. Hmm.. To me, that makes quite a bit of sense. But, not sure about how the cross-over on 'hypotheticals' would work.

hypatia238 | I just feel we don't focus on the positive of nessus enough bc I feel everyone has nessus somewhere in their chart and clearly most people are not abusive so I cant help but feel there is more room for research with this centaur. Maybe nessus is found more on the grey scale than we think like struggling to be faithful, sex addiction, or having tabboo fantasies or been very kinky in bed. Not everytime you see nessus is it going to be rape, abuse, murder as to top it off we have all these other aspects that also play a role in perhaps how nessus is channeled or expressed. Personally my nessus squares widely my chart ruler conjunction jupiter-uranus by 4 and 5 degrees so I dont think I could feel that. I would only use 4 or 5 degrees with asteroids or centaurs if we are talking about the sun and maybe moon. OR should I count that?. My nessus does sesquisquares my neptune in the first by 1d. I am just playing the devil's advocate, I can't help but feel there is more to nessus as my ex has it squaring venus and pluto and he is not abusive. Perhaps I should check if his nessus conjuncts angel or horus or something that would enlightened it so to speak...but you see why I have my reservations with it right? |

Too far. I prefer 0º-1º, but at the absolute furthest, 3º. |

I agree entirely. My NESSUS is quite prominent in a way, too. |

Well, Priapus libra@26.32 is on my Sun/Moon midpoint libra@26.44 exact and opposed my Chiron aries@24.14 Nessus cancer@2.24 rx is on my Mars gemini@29.33... I've never felt I fully understood Priapus I thought of him more as the weirdo horny old man type, running around without any care about others just trying to get his jollies and offending others through sexually lude and vulgar comments and gestures. Not the guy I want to be around!! But I'm not sure if that's totally the correct assumption about him. I figure since his opposition is Lilith....he would be just as hard and cold as she is. |

I cannot agree with you more!! My cancer Nessus conjunct gemini Mars(2.5 degree) it's retrograde though, I did have the abuse from the ppl who were supposed to be my caretakers and in my home, which is one manifestation of Nessus in cancer rx. Personally, I do have some of the darker fetish issues involving mild pain...of course I'm the one being hurt with my Nessus rx. I don't even know why I'm drawn to this stuff and it's only with certain ppl. I should look at our synastry and figure out why I have these things creep in my head around these certain ppl.

Perhaps we should analyze the discovery chart more, upon reading this I did a search and found this: "The only other tale of Vesta concerns Priupus, a rather naughty God by all accounts. Priapus spied Vesta sleeping one evening and took a fancy to her. He tried to creep up on her with the intent on having his wicked way but the bray of a donkey alerted Vesta, protecting her from assault. For this reason, the donkey is an animal sacred to Vesta." |
hypatia238 | OMG guys look at what I found LOL: The fresco depicts Priapus with a large and constantly erect penis Rather than representing fertility, it may show the disease phimosis This is an inability to retract the foreskin and can be caused by infection Phimosis was widespread among men in Pompeii and the ancient Greeks may have thought this depiction could help ward off the disease http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3130219/Mystery-Priapus-massive-manhood-Archaeologists-claim-2-000-year-old-fresco-fertility-god-reveals-penis-disorder.html Maybe BML gave PRIAPUS Phimosis and so they oppose each other......JK

Lol!! BML, she's such a @****!! Poor lil Priapus! This doesn't make me feel any better about having him on my Sun/Moon midpoint. Lol |
Aubyanne | You guys didn't know all of that already? Oh, okay. Sorry. I would've explained. I think that only looking at PRIAPUS as, well, priapic can be a mistake. After all, women have PRIAPUS, too, and it's not a one-size-fits-all sort of deal. |
Ceridwen | Oh boy, I wished they hadn´t named them like that! It`s totally misleading. Both are tied to lunar symbolism. how COLD do you think the indicator of our emotional nature can really be? Cold is not a term that fits either of them. And no, not even Lilith is cold. She is fiercely independent, YES. But cold? Nah. And Priapus? Doesn`t get much moonier than that. |
Ceridwen | Auby, the "uncontrolled desire" bit in terms of Nessus sounds a bit like me. I think I may have written that once or twice. |

On a serious note I would think that it been on your midpoint makes you magnetic, perhaps people fee drawn towards you like a pull and you attract the opposite sex easily. Maybe you find that your male and female side become more and more balanced as you get older bc that priapus has been in that midpoint helping those energies merge for so long.

What do you think he represents in a woman's chart? ESP sitting on Sun/Moon midpoint? Funny...the guy I was dating, that was such a flake, his AC is exact on my S/M midpoint and Priapus. I always kind of felt like he was a bit out of control sexually. He didn't seem to known when to stop, what was normal, mature or even realistic regarding sex. At times I felt more like a blow up doll than someone he loved when it came to his sexual nature. |

That's a very interesting take on it! I do feel as I've gotten older I relate to or understand mens thinking and needs...I'm really good at putting myself in a mans headspace and say what I think they would feel. Surprisingly I've had many men say that I can explain their thinking due to their core needs better than they can. |
ReadingTheStars95 | That's odd.. For some reason I had it in the back of my mind that Nessus was slower moving than it is.. I have Nessus Opposite my Sun.. Always kind of worried me. Especially considering that I have it conjunct Philomela. I always thought the Philomela-Sun opposition had more to do with my home life than anything though.. And maybe something to do with a few past-life experiences... Not sure what to think about these aspects.. |

Philomela...she's no fun to have conjunct Nessus, esp opposite your self esteem and ego. Do you find that pain you suffered as a child makes it hard for you to control yourself from lashing out at times? This in turn affects how you feel about yourself and makes you feel like your a bad person or don't like yourself at times? I'm honestly not totally sure how this aspect would play out but this could be one potential scenario. If it's off let me know how you feel it relates. |
