T O P I C R E V I E Wbridgetostars23Hi, This is my first post in this section and I have lots to say and ask regarding dreams but I will start with this; I have had episodes of what I now know to be "sleep paralysis" ever since I can remember. (Also vivid dreams.) Before I began meditating and praying the sleep paralysis was typically scary and sometimes sexual in nature. It felt like I was being raped. Now I sometimes feel like I am floating and not in my body and it is much more peaceful. However it still happens in a sexual way at first. But now it is usually not scary. I seem to want it to happen and encourage it during the dream like state. I only worry that I could be inviting energies I don't want. What do you think?bridgetostars23I would like to add that at different times the entity that attacks me is either just a dark, shadowy human shaped figure, a dark insect/reptile/snake looking figure/ and that the scarier times I could feel physical pain and I tried to scream and move but could not....and more recently when it has been more pleasant and I have more or less asked for it in my mind or at least agreed to it, I don't seem to see the entity as much.RaHello bridgetostars What do I think? I think it is fantastic! I also think that as you become more adept at controlling this experience, and I certainly recommend that you pursue it, you will have less and less to fear and more and more to learn. You will discover the nature of the darkness you sometimes encounter, as well as the sexual energies you experience. If you use this sleep paralysis and floating feeling as a springboard into full fledged out-of-body experiences, you will discover a great many things. As you are already beginning to find out, your state of mind directly affects your experience and what energies may be attracted to you. Dark attracts dark and light attracts light. The same is true, of course, in the physical world, but in the physical there is a delay, a time-lag, between cause and effect. In the Astral Realms, which is what/where you are experiencing, there is no delay … what you think is what you get, immediately. So what and how you think is crucial. If you continue to meditate and think positively you needn't worry about inviting energies you don't want, and even if you do, you can expel them with a thought. Have you read Robert Monroe's books? Journeys Out of the Body, Far Journeys, Ultimate Journey I highly recommend these books to you. There is a great deal of information and guidance for you in these books. They are not long books, but they are very good.By the way, I love your user name ... it is oh, so appropriate. bridgetostars23 quote:Originally posted by Ra:Hello bridgetostars What do I think? Thanks for your response. I will certainly check out the books. The majority of my scary experiences happened before I got sober. My whole life was based on fear and I was constantly depressed. It makes sense as you say that dark attracts dark. I am glad that these more pleasant experiences aren't something you think I should be worried about. Sometimes after reading about astral travel (although not in depth) I get the feeling that people think I shouldn't be experiencing at all. Also I guess I have been embarassed about the sexual aspect before. Now, I am just trying to learn as much as I can. RaThere is nothing to be embarassed about, and there is nothing to fear. Keep learning about this phenomenon. The more knowledge you have, the less there is to be concerned about. If you can harness the power of this, it can have an amazing impact upon your life. bridgetostars23It has happened since my last post but last night was memorable.I could see smokey grey/black forms near my face.I did not feel fear.I telepathically asked them to interact with me. (Even if I decide not to interact with them if I'm not scared I will typically do it almost like I can't control myself.)I'm getting different opinions on this.RaTaking caution never hurts, and of course it is counterintuitive to invite interaction with shadowy figures, so I can understand why others would be uncomfortable with it. "Be careful what you ask for" is sometimes true. However, at the bottom of it, if you are mentally prepared then there is no danger. That's my opinion. What do you think? LunaeSorry to butt in, but I've experienced this just recently, minus the shadowy figures and it was the first time that I had such experience. I knew I was dreaming at first, and then the whole world was plunged into darkness. The next thing I knew, I was flying above the city then, I returned to my room, watching my sleeping body. I felt afraid and I was trying to wake up but I was 'paralyzed'. A few moments later I finally opened my eyes. Was that an out of the body experience or just an ordinary dream?RaHello Lunae Sounds like an OBE to me, just that you weren't in complete conscious control. LunaeI knew it! It was frightening, for a first timer. I thought I wouldn't wake up XD I actually tried to scream, but I think no one heard me. What does it mean to have an OBE? Ra(O)ut of (B)ody (E)xperienceThis might be a stupid question, but is that what you are asking? Or do you want to know the reasons for it? bridgetostars23 quote:Originally posted by Lunae:Sorry to butt in, but I've experienced this just recently, minus the shadowy figures and it was the first time that I had such experience. Love your input, Ra The shadowy figures have come to me in dreams since I was young. I've thought maybe it's just a cultural meme and not a reality outside of movies/consciousness. I hoped so because they were terrifying to me.And I have also had sleep paralysis though not sexual..more like buried alive. Thankfully it hasn't happened in a long time.RaLunae, I don't really know why it happens. I believe there are a great number of possible reasons, but I suppose when it comes down to the very basics of it, it must have something to do with the learning/progression of the individual. bridgetostars23 quote:Originally posted by Faith:Your stories are fascinating, bridgetostars & Lunae. Maybe if you are a person who is more inclined to believe in esoteric type....subjects or on a spiritual path, you are more inclined to have these things happen. (Like people who belong to an astrology forum.)I don't know. But it's a very interesting topic.piscesfishgoddesssleep paralysis has never been a good thing for meStawrYes someone special gave me two Robert Monroe books. Started reading the first one. But lost it somewhere in this house. It's driving me nuts that I can't find it. I also have his 3rd book. Didn't get very far in Monroe's book. Only on the local one stuff. But there is an experience that I am still trying to understand that happened to me in the night. It did not seem like a dream at all. Was laying in my bed on my side I saw a green ball of light coming from the east. It stopped for a moment when it was directly in front of me then moved toward me. stuff was going though my head like "what is it doing?...!" Then I couldn't see it anymore I knew it went somewhere to my body. Where did it go? I start to look down at my lower body and that's when I am startled by a painful feeling in my ependex(sp?) on my right side. I start to struggle. The my physical body rolls over to my side and I struggle for a few seconds more then it stops and I realize I am awake. I was thinking WTF was that about?! Then I roll over and pass out.I told that special someone about that experience and he said that it wasn't a dream and that I'm very lucky this happened to me. And he has a book on someone who had a similar experience He finally reveled the Robert Monroe book to me. And the first chapter is somewhat like what I experienced.
