T O P I C R E V I E WWaterNymphI used to always think people who talk too fast stutter…ie air signs But I’ve met someone who really stutters. Like most of what they say. Where in the chart do you look for this? Mercury squares their Saturn, it’s the only “bad” aspect.PeriSaturn/Chiron/Moon in stressful aspects (+ inconj)to Mercury?probably afflicted 3rd house+ retro Mercury??dunno reallywilsontcNymph,People who stutter may have so many ideas in their head that these ideas all "crowd around" to get out when the person speaks. As a result the person can't speak fast enough to express the flow of ideas that are coming out. The result is stuttering, in which the mind is thinking MUCH faster than the mouth can talk! The solution for these stutterers is to SLOW DOWN their thinking and to let only ONE idea out at a time. The challenge is to work at developing that one idea into a complete thought, forcing the mind to fully express that idea BEFORE moving onto the next idea. This might be indicated astrologically with Uranus (friends, also innovation) in aspect to Mercury (thinking, also talking) or with interconnected Aquarius (friends, also innovation) and Gemini (thinking, also talking) energies.Making one thought at a time,TimhippichickFrom personal experiece, I stuttered as a child painfully and finally "grew" out of it. I read somewhere that Saturn in the 3rd, which I have in aqua can contribute to this as well as general problems in communication. I also have a close stellium of mars, merc, and jupiter in aqua in the 3rd, several degrees from saturn, which would lend to wilsontc's reply regarding alot of ideas bouncing around and I have been told many times I talk fast. I do remember noting as a child that I would be able not to stutter when speaking to "no one", it was just a problem when speaking ie; communicating, to people. Interesting point you bring up.astro junkiehippichick -Interesting what you brought up about the 3rd House. Making me wonder if any of following contributes to my lifelong struggle with communicating verbally. Although the majority of people say I speak very eloquently ...Moon in the 3rd Opposing Saturn in the 9th - (Many times feel difficulty expressing my emotions the way I'd like. It takes me a few tries, and sometimes after a long LONG time).3rd House Cusp in Cancer which is Ruled by the Moon.Moon Sextile Asc, while my Asc is Squared by UranusMercury Sextile Neptune - (haziness?)I notice the ones I frustrate the most when I talk are those with strong Capricorn/10th House/Saturn influences. I don't know why! And Gemini's too, sometimes, because what I say seems so colored by my emotional side, even if I'm being as objective and matter-of-fact as possible. It's in my voice even if I'm calm, cool and collected. It can be frustrating. My Mercury is in Scorpio (Direct), and in the 6th House!I DO stutter sometimes, but never had a stuttering problem per say.------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darknesshippichickAJ, very interesting....If you have a problem expressing your "emotional feelings" verbally, can you do it better in writing? To those who have said you speak "eloquently", are you dealing with something that sparks your emotional nature, or just everyday mundane stuff? I can write very "eloquently", I have always written poetry, manuscripts and am currently working on a book, but if you asked me to get up and speak in front of 1 or 1 million, I think not, I would freeze! It is like the words just won't manifest although they are in my brain, OMG are they in my brain!!!Do you think your problems with caps have to do with your moon in 3rd, opposition to saturn who rules cap? Is it just when you are emotionally involved in what you have to say or at all times? And maybe since Gemini rules the 3rd... hmmmmmm.
