T O P I C R E V I E Wgeminirising26Hey!As you all can probably tell, I have a gemini ascendant. Mercury is very strong in my chart (next in number of aspects is mars, but anyway..) So I have 3 planets in the 7th: mercury, jupiter, and neptune. All three of these planets are in opposition to my ascendant. So in particular my question is, does the mercury placement especially diminish qualities of my gemini asc? Do the other three as well? Or will I apppear to have the characteristics of those planets that oppose the ascendant? Thanks for any response!:-)wilsontcgemini,Another way to think of it is any energy which OPPOSES your Ascendant (self) CONJUNCTS your Descendant (others). So you naturally focus your energy on others and, yes, this indicates you may focus less on yourself. Whether you call this a "diminishing" of yourself or an "increasing" your attention to others is up to you! Might come off more as a Sag.------------------now, where did I put it?lalalindaor another way to look at it isif Capricorn, Taurus, or Libra is on the Ascendant then the planet in the seventh is dignified by house. AliceWhen the ruler of the Ascendant is opposite it, or even in the seventh house--- as a child you have been taught that you are like the rising sign but should not beorthat you should be like the rising sign, but are not.EXAMPLE: Capricorn Rising is often told that s/he is responsible for what happens (especially what happens to you), but Saturn in the 7th is your assurance that you are not.------------------You are a blessing and you are blessed. Rev. Alicewww.lifeprintastrology.commars446Ok...so if your chart ruler squares your asc. like for example, cappy neptune squaring my pisces asc, that would mean that i'd have to combine both cappy neptune 10 house: duty, spirituality, dutyandpisces asc: spirituality, being, beingPretty much my being and my duty for spiritual betterment? I think that happens pretty frequently with me.
You just inspired me to think of how to handle a Square and Quincunx.
To solve the Square Tension, if each person steps back 15 degrees each in the way they should astrologically be, it becomes a TRINE and harmony.
To solve the Quincunx Tension, if each person comes forward 15 degrees each in the way they should astrologically think or be, it becomes a TRINE and again harmony.
Imagine counselling couples using this philosophy. It can save many a marriage.

cappy neptune 10 house: duty, spirituality, duty

Pretty much my being and my duty for spiritual betterment? Did i get it right Tim?

One too many "being"s on the Pisces modifying Ascendant example , but otherwise...this sounds good to me! For those of you playing along at home , see Step 5 in the link below.
Opinionating,
quote:...you should be like the rising sign, but are not...
This doesn't make sense to me. The rising sign is about our "self" and so we ALWAYS are like our rising sign in some way...even if we don't realize how we are like our rising sign.
Confused,
