T O P I C R E V I E WLana29865Hi all!Which house system do you use and why? Placidus is the system most commonly used in my home country, and I've gotten used to it, but lately I've used Equal just for fun, and it seems to work better for me... (?).For example, according to Placidus, I have Mars and Neptune in Scorpio in the 4th house, but according to Equal my Mars is in the 3rd house, which DEFINITELY seems to suit the reality better. However, in Placidus my Sun is in the 2nd house, which I feel could be true, but in the Equal system it's in the 1st house... Hhmmm...Anyone have similar observations about their charts? (I'm familiar with the theoretical background of the house systems). AcousticGodI've come to like Koch, though it only changes one placement. It gives me a stellium in the 5th, whereas Placidus moves one of those planets to the 6th. Both placements are fine with me.solar_thirdI use the Koch system as it seems to be more accurate for my house/sign cusps.S_TSagSunMost of the time I stick to Placidus. I started learning astrology with Placidus, so I'm most used to this system. I tried Koch for a little while, but it didn't seem to change much as far as house placements go. I tried the Equal system for a short time as well, but it didn't really work for the charts I was working with. I mean, it changed only three placements in my own chart (Sun in the 9th House and Saturn and Pluto in the 8th, Placidus and Koch both put them in the 8th and 7th, respectively ... but I can relate to the placements in both systems). However, Equal system completely changes the charts of some other people I know. IqhunkI have not used Koch but Equal House is logically superior to Placidus. For example, try making a sample chart for a person born in Greenland or a northern Norwegian City in Dec 21st with Placidus to see why it is not a precise system.StargazerMy chart changes a bunch... between Placidius and Equal/KochPlacidiusSun, Merc., Venus and Ceres in the 7thSaturn in the 2nd.Equal/KochSun and company in the 8thSaturn in the 3rd.With 3/4 of my chart in the 7th, 8th, and 3rd anyway.. it is confusing....Somehow, they all applyThe Magicianbut how cn two systems hold equally true??for eg. if according to one, a person's sun falls in the 5th house and according to the other it falls in the 6th, then how can these both apply? Will that be then read as a mixture of 5th and 6th house or will the astrologer have take a call and choose one of them based on his intuition?...AcousticGodMost astrologers pick a house system, and stick to using just one.GoldmundHello, fellow finn! I use equal, as Placidus isn't always working well, especially if you're born in northern Finland where there can be many signs in just one house, doesn't make any sense to me!libraschoice7 I don't like using Koch(Placidus moves only one planet), I end up with my Mars in 12th house and Saturn in 2nd, and almost a stellium in 3rd. Which doesn't suit me at all, if I had a stellium in 3rd I be a marvelous writer and be able to woe people with just a few words(plus I am very comfortable with 1st house Mars)...people around me know I don't hide my anger well ------------------Sun in LibraMoon in CancerJupiter in CancerVenus in VirgoMars in CancerAscendant in CancerI "FEEL" therefor I amLana29865Thank you all for the replies :-)I tried the Koch system yesterday, and it's just about the same as Placidus for me. My problem is that the difference between Equal and Placidus is REALLY BIG, not just one small placement:Placidus:Sun 2nd houseVenus&Moon 3rd houseMars 4th houseEqualSun 1st houseVenus&Moon 2nd houseMars 3rd houseMy man has 9th house Mars&Neptune in Placidus, but these planets move to the 10th house in Equal. Understandably, Equal also gives us a different synastry and composite chart from Placidus...I strongly feel that I have Mars in the 3rd house (Equal). I have thought my Sun is in the 2nd house (Placidus), but it could also be the strong Venus placement there (Equal)... i.e. a very strong 2nd house anyway.Yes, astrologers seem to choose and stick to one system, but could it really be that we could use several systems... Interlapping... Interpretations should not be so clear cut anyway. Especially, since the planets are usually in neighboring houses depending on the system, their impact could be explained due to that (they could have an effect on both houses)... Just thinking...Lana29865(I deleted my double post).AcousticGodYou could try Whole houses as well.wilsontcLana,If you use the equal or whole house system, you should start learning traditionalastrology, since the equal and whole house system was designed with traditional astrology in mind.
