T O P I C R E V I E WPeriYod or the Finger of God, I’ve been intrigued by this configuration for quite awhile. I did some research and found an easy way to interpret it. In my chart I have only challenging aspects to my Sun including two quincunxes from Pluto and Neptune/Moon and I’ve been wondering how I can bring out the creative side in me, how to work out the stressful aspects and get my spiritual being awaken, the answer is: Yod, is something to look for when I am trying to determine the potential for (the focal planet = Sun = my S-Elf), in order to succeed I will have to rely on a certain level of faith (Neptune) and the Inner Child within (Moon) and let powerful transformations happen (Pluto), no matter how challenging it might be...P.S. If I do not do this myself the situation urging me to focus on matters ruled by Sun may develop itself when a transiting or progressed planet forms an opposition to Sun, moving on the Neptune/Moon and Pluto midpoint. What about your Yod?------------------ mudmamaGot a Yod with Neptune and Pluto pointing to Saturn in my 7th. fun and games....lol ------------------Sun-LibraMoon-CapricornAsc-LibraMercury-ScorpioVenus-ScorpioMars-VirgoJupiter-VirgoSaturn-Aries(r)Uranus-LibraNeptune-ScorpioKatI'm not really familiar with yods, but I sometime in the past someone mentioned I had one (or two) of these. I assume that a yod points you into a course of action?I'll need to go back to see if I could find mine. teaselbabyThe only yod I'm aware of in my chart, isn't a "real" one (I think), since it points to my ascendant instead of a planet - I have Venus (conjunct Moon) and Jupiter in a wide sextile, both inconjunct my ascendant. If Jupiter were closer in orb, then Uranus would be the point at which they met in the middle...*Edit. I just did a google search, and now it seems the ascendant can be considered as part of a yod... I don't remember that being the case when I first started studying astrology. FlukeI've got this Yod too, Sun, Pluto, Neptune... ------------------Cancer RisingGemini SunLibra MoonCancer VenusGemini MarsSeeing Stars 7.21Peri! Thank you for this post, I have been searching for answers on my yods for a while now. It seems you know more about them then anyone else could you tell me what you think about mine? I thought a yod was defined as a planet recieving two quincuxes from two other planets that or on opposite sides of a fourth planet that is opposed to the first. therefore making a long triangle. but the definition might be different for you. here is my chart: Ive counted 4 pointers. but if the oppossed planet is not needed then there is only two. between Sun, Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus which are tightly conjunct PeriSeeing Stars, I think you've got a boomerang in your chart, here is some info. quote:Yod. This is a quincunx-sextile-quincunx and its appearance is not too uncommon – especially while Neptune and Pluto have been in a running sextile in recent decades. It features a crisis of and a need for perspective, in which the energies of the two sextiled planets find difficulty integrating with that of the apex, quincunxed planet. This dichotomy is not directly a conflict, rather a bewilderingly dualistic, seeimingly irresolvable and compromising situation. This is an 'appointment with power' in which consciousness and its capacity for seeing are tested. It is a secret to be decoded, an intense dilemma, or a visitation from the Unknown. This is where intentions refuse to gel with realities: the solution is available as soon as clarity and insight dawn – there's a hidden secret underneath which needs dredging up. Allowing things to happen rather than seeking to steer them is what is called for here: yet, underneath, there is a new kind of adepthood which brings in a new form of control without holding on, if we can see it. http://www.isleofavalon.co.uk/GlastonburyArchive/time/lit12.html The Yod aspect configuration, when its apex planet is in Opposition to a fourth planet. Similar to the Yod, except the fourth planet has the "last word" in the energy flow and receives an extraordinary amount of stress. http://www.evolvingdoor.ca/glossary/glossary_k.htm ------------------ FlukeIn a discussion about yods some time ago I believe the definition of a boomerang planet was the source of some disagreement, some people believed it wasn't enough for the boomerang planet to just be in opposition to the apex planet (like my Jupiter and Uranus), it also had to be exactly in the middle and form an aspect to the two other planets. I got told this over and over because I tried to claim my Jupiter and Uranus as boomerang planets, but as you can see from my chart they're a bit off Heart--Shaped CrossNeptune 16' SagPluto 17' LibraIMUM COELI 16' TaurusUranus/MC 16' ScorpioSeeing Stars 7.21Im not quite sure I understand the concept. but ill keep reading.. Thank You Peri LeoCatI was under the understanding that a yod must be very tight in orb. Less than 2 degrees? Also, the apex must be the faster moving planet. For instance, a moon can never be one of the sextile planets. Is this true?LeoCatHere's my barrel of laughs... yourfriendinspiritPeri I enjoyed reading your insites Here, I pulled this off my blog:The Yod.A YOD, also called the "Finger of God" or "Arrow of Fate"A Yod occurs when two planets in sextile (60° apart) both form an inconjunct (a 150° angle) with a third planet. The third planet in the inconjunct represents the action point of the Yod; the mid point between the other two planets is the reaction point. The action point of the configuration is sometimes called the "finger of God," and the finger formed by the two inconjuncts points to a place in your chart likely to be very active. The Yod is believed by many astrologers to be a karmic configuration, and it suggests that there is a compulsive "debt" repayment associated with the area of the chart pointed out.Points to where the focus in your life should be. Example: If it points to jupitar in the ninth house, you need to be traveling, your life will be blessed in this way... This is Fate or God's Will. The two planets at the other end of the spectrum are the paths in which to use it or express it...You may also need to make consessions and be adaptive to unfamiliar situations when you have a Yod in your chart. It may be that you give in one direction and get your needs met from a completely different source, so it is not possible to measure how much others give you to decide how much you can give.Yod is the Hebrew meaning "blessed" and is said to have a kind of fate about it. At once easy by the sextile, yet made difficult by the quincunx aspects, the Yod points to the ultimate challenge and goal.Remember often times we recognize blessings only after major dramatic events take place.Important information regarding transits:When you are having a hard aspect to your yod by any transiting outer planet, or any progressed planet or angle, exercise greater caution than usual. Also be aware of your yod's mean degree (add up the longitudes of each planet in the yod and divide by 3), as well as the mean mean degree :-) (add up the planets without regard to longitude and divide by 3), and watch for transits to those degrees, as well as to your Mars Saturn midpoint. These are strategies that may help you to avert some of the negative events that may manifest when your yod is triggered. Here are some resources:Yod and Golden Yod at WikiBob Marks AstrologerThere are 100's more on the web to be found with only a quick search.I would however suggest that you go out and get a book on the subject.YES, there are entire books written on the Yod configuration. I can't sit here and wait I'll go nuts. My yod is bugging me to the point of desperation. Do yours feel as frustrating as mine does? Ahhhh!
P.S. If I do not do this myself the situation urging me to focus on matters ruled by Sun may develop itself when a transiting or progressed planet forms an opposition to Sun, moving on the Neptune/Moon and Pluto midpoint.
