T O P I C R E V I E WMyVirgoMaskI've been wondering about this for a long time. If you have, say, Sun square Uranus, and then you go through a transit where, say... transitting Uranus is opposing your Sun, is it less of a chaotic time? I'm wondering because I kind of have a half-baked theory that if you have a familiarity with the energy of a certain planet or aspect in your chart, then at times the impact of a similar transit is lessened. For instance, I am going through transitting Pluto opposing my Saturn now. But in my chart I have Saturn square Pluto exact 0'00. I'm not saying I don't feel *something*. It's just that I've been through the meat grinder for a long time so I've developed some weird immunity.... the transit might bring up some Saturn/Pluto issues, but since I am a little familiar with them then I have a head start....As opposed to when I got Saturn on my unaspected Sun, along with Uranus opposing it, which was CRAZY.What do you think? Can you think of any transits which echoed your chart which you felt or didn't feel? I would not say it would be less chaotic but your attitude and emotions during this transit would be less chaotic!Lucia23I've noticed this too, in transits and synastry. That's why I think it's so important to read each chart carefully and individually, instead of relying on "cookbook" explanations of transits and influences. Someone with a super-Plutonic or Saturnine natal chart that's full of tight squares might thrive with challenging transits (or synastry aspects), and feel nearly nauseous with discomfort with "harmonious" transits. Kind of like if you grew up traveling around Europe, Asia, North America, and Africa from the time you were 2, you will respond differently to the travel challenges and experiences that would come up if you suddenly went to the Amazon alone than a thirty-year-old who's never left Croydon. Anne Ortelee has a great article where she compares the chart to a game of pinball--it's all about working with/around/through the energies of the natal chart and transits.iQTrue. One gets negative aspect immunity in an opposition but any square transit will still hurt. Any transit of my natal Mars sq Saturn still hurts me every year. Dont feel Mars opp Saturn as severely as the square.MyVirgoMaskGood point, Lucia. Makes sense.I do know a few who felt nothing when certain transits touched their personal planets. It's weird. It's like payback time, having an edge on transits to an extent, I think I know T Uranus is about to conjunct my 12th (where my moon is), but I already have the Moon/Uranus opposition. So while it maybe hell, I just feel a little less worried or something. Also, I have Saturn trine and sextile my Mars, Venus, and ascendant..but when the square was happening on those planets/points from Saturn, it was totally HELL. So... I don't know. I did have PLuto squaring my sun around then too though, so it's not surprising lolI'd think if the planet is completely unfamiliar in your own chart with aspects and is making a hard transit, it would be really tough, esp if it's an outer planet. But even if you have it in your own chart softly aspect (sextile/trine) and it's a transit with a hard aspect, it would be tough. And yet maybe not as tough as with someone who doesn't understand the energy at all.So I guess transits are relative Maybe it's simplistic to say so, but I still think it bears mentioning since many of us get freaked out during hard transits in general. And a lot of the 'cook book' interpretations can have a tendency of throwing us off. DDTransiting Uranus conjunct my Moon was still a big surprise, even though my Moon is in Aquarius. But it`s natally unaspected except for a Saturn-quinkunx, so maybe that was why.Generally I agree with what you said MyVirgoMaskDD, I hope the experience wasn't too terrible for you, when you say it was a big surprise. DDNot terrible at all. It was also a time in my life, where I was repeatedly feeling dizzy (I start thinking Uranus may have to do with it), it got better when I finally gave in and moved my lazy a** and started somee "growth" out of my fears (well, not really out of them, but didnīt let them stop me at least for a time). It was also the time, I discovered the internet, became a part of a forum for the first time, made my first trip alone to Paris to meet people I only knew online, met my musical crush and talked to him and all such things. It was actually a great time, once I stopped desperately clinging to old patterns of controling myself. (Well, Transit Uranus was also quinkunx Saturn at t hat time).DDOh I forgot to mention.I also became creative again, even though on a new level.I started writing stories, shortstories, novels (which usually never get finished. lol), fanfiction, and it was really great to be able to do that. Actually I miss the writing sometimes. *sighs* But it`s either astrology or writing stories. For some reason those two donīt seem to go together.Lonake.MyVirgoMaskInteresting! DD, I experience some weird dizziness on occasion too with my Uranus/Moon... I wonder what it is (emotions changing too quickly to keep track of, most likely LOL)Astrology and writing can go together! I don't see why not. The world needs more well-written astrology, always! DDYes, I think most of my bouts of dizzyness are emotionally related. Sometimes it is all too much and changing too quickly.Well, I was talking about writing fictional stories, not astrology books. SashaCitronIn my natal chart I have Sun conjunct Saturn. This past 9 or so months I have had Saturn going back and forth over my Sun and MC and it has hit me like a ton of bricks. There are for sure a few differences as it has has also been going back and forth over my MC which is conjunct my natal Sun but not my Saturn. It is also my Saturn return so maybe that is the issue.I was just expecting this to not be as big of a deal as it has been since I have dealt with Saturn conjunct my Sun my whole life. GlaucusI have Moon in Pisces in 6th square the opposition of retrograde Saturn in Gemini in 9th and Jupiter-Neptune in Sagittarius in 3rd, and transiting Saturn in Virgo in my 12th formed a grand cross transit from September of 2007 thru last year.hell yeah! I felt it. My exgf,Meghann broke up with me April of last year.It was an overall time of depression, anxiety, and self doubt. It also happened during the presidential race with Obama, and I was in much conflict about my racial identity as multiracial person. I felt racial tension between me and Meghann too as an interracial couple. I went to a unity church briefly, and I didn't go for long. I couldn't feel any solace from it. my mom's leg got amputated last Summer too. She has diabetes. I even had doubts about Astrology too. I was really watching videos about skeptics saying that Astrology was bogus and that astrologers are fradulent and/or delusional. There were arguments that I had with skeptics that make me feel like crap but also made me wonder if I was really hurting people instead of helping people as an astrologer. Maybe I was fooling myself. I was going through doubts. During that time,I developed an interest in Theodor Landscheidt's Golden Section Aspects, and I did experiments with people here. It seemed that there was a lot of validity to those aspects. I respond strongly to hard Saturn transits with my own strong hard natal Saturn aspects.RaymondCoffeeWith the Saturn/Pluto - Pluto/Saturn aspects you mention, both will have a stronger efect than the other. Always go with the longest cycle planet - Pluto in this case - to the the shorter cycle planet. This goves the general outer/long-term guide. The smaller to the bigger one, gives a shorter period.Pluto opposite Saturn is half and half. Opposite from a conjuntion which is bad, but more moving towards a conjuntion (in 180 degrees or so) which is better than moving away from a conjunction.Give that a score of 5.Add in the Saturn square Pluto, and obviously you dont need me to say it is a bad aspect. Just give that one a score of 0.3All together that a 5.3 (or something similar)Id wait until Saturn has gone past Pluto and wont be coming round till the next pass...to consider it good. Oppositions can be fine if you take the glass half full mentality.I guess if you have a positive aspect in your natal chart, you would handle the energies better when an occasion like this occurs.DianaI actually think it's a more chaotic time, because it sets off the natal configuration, so stuff does happen. However, usually you do have more of a coping mechanism to deal with it since it's so familiar to you. amowls*I'll get back to you on that next May when Saturn opposes my Venus and Uranus conjuncts it (I have Venus square Saturn and Uranus natally).
