T O P I C R E V I E WslowpokeHi,Composite Astrology and Synastry Astrology are tools that investigate the potential in bonds or unions between people. The resulting aspects from both tools are the primary factors for determining the quality of the unions.I began using Composite Astrology, not to see what was going on between me and someone I knew but rather, to help me identify suitable unknown people who might be willing to join me in a business venture. For the most part I did my own calculations. This meant that I was picking dates out of thin air and applying to me or, was applying it to me and family members. I would be interested in people, I did not know personally, from my local area. I would wondered if they might make a good partner. I would find out their DOB info and send it to Para Research, Inc. for Composite analysis. There were one or two reports that came back favorably. I would make appointments with the people who generated favorable Composite reports. Based on the aspect information I got from the reports, I was prepared to meet people with whom I was suppose to have a smooth easy interaction. But, once meeting these people, I found that the meeting was anything like I expected. The communications were distant and difficult, and there was no sense of feeling comfortable and at ease with the individuals, contrary to what the Composite report suggested. And from what I could read, understand and apply, my reports never matched up well with family members either. It took years of unsuccessful trial and error research before I finally gave up on Composite Astrology.I had read small reports on Synastry Astrology while working with the Composites and decided to shift my efforts there. It took a while for me to understand how it worked. But once I figured out how to use it, results flicked on like a light switch. The first thing I noticed, was that my reports on my family members were reading more true to life. When I began applying Synastry Aspects, to real people I did not know, the effects I felt between me them ran close to what Synastry suggested. From my experience, Composite Astrology may be helpful in determining the transit like characteristics of a relationship but it is awful in helping a person find meaningful relationships through prospecting. Conversely, the Synastry Astrology Aspects are an ideal tool for not only explaining what a current relationship is about, but for use in finding meaningful friendships and relationships through prospecting.P.S.In all due respect to the readers of this post, I changed the text. Composite seems work better for me Deux*AntaresI don't think that one is necessarily better than the other. I believe they are both useful tools. Saying that synastry is better than composite is like saying that a novel is better than its movie version. They are two different media of expression so we should not expect them to work in exactly the same way. Composite vs Davison, these two you can compare because they are from the same "genre". comica23slowpoke, it's nice that you have done a deeper research of the methods through experience. By the way, when analyzing the composite charts, have you checked the aspects to/between midpoints too? Actually, the composite is more than the "visible" aspects, that the midpoint aspects can tell a lot too. Also, the composite aspects takes time to manifest in the real life, that a lot of the chart only manifests after the relationship is stronger.Personally, I think that both tools are relevant in determining how compatible two people are. While the synastry shows where two people are compatible, the composite shows the trends of the relationship, and where the compatibility/incompatibility of the synastry aspects manifests.Aya_and_babyI think both Synastry and Composite work well, for varying reasons. I've always been taught that a Synastry chart represents the interactions BETWEEN two (or more) partners and that a Composite chart shows how those partners' co-operation is OUTWARD.So if both types of chart have different meanings, surely they can't be compared? The only thing they would have in common then is that they are often used in looking at relationships. So why can't the two just live alongside each other? Does it really have to be one or the other?------------------Official Conor's Feeding Machine!Aya_and_babyOh, and I do think that if you have good Synastry, your Composite chart could still be bad and vice versa. You could easily start a successful venture with someone you can't stomach and with whom conversation doesn't seem to go well, but surprisingly enough the business you both started can work very well.Mine and my boyfriend's synastry is quite good: venus' trine, a few sextiles here and there, one of the few bad things is his mars opposite my venus and my Pluto conjunct his rising. Apart from that it's a nice Synastry chart. But I can make head nor tails from the Composite chart. Nothing that goes on between us turns up in the Composite chart...But then it turned out that all our friends had a completely different idea of our relationship, that which did seem to turn up in our Composite chart. Strange.Anyway, if you want to choose a partner based on Composite charts, it's probably better to see if the Synastry is good first, then look at the Composite and see how you are seen by others as partners. Because someone else's opinion often influences the success of a venture, too.------------------Official Conor's Feeding Machine!
