T O P I C R E V I E WCrazyAquarianCould ya'll tell me your semi squares and how you feel they affect you? How do you feel they differ from the square?CoffeeThe semi-square, to my knowledge, doesn't exist as an aspect.CrazyAquarianwhat?!CrazyAquarianO_OTaineberryThe Semi Square aspect is one where the two planets are 45 degrees apart. Most people say that this means it is a “weak square”, but I don’t find that very helpful. My take on it is that it indicates the area of your life where you repress your energy, because you feel that “your way” of doing it is being blocked by external strictures or prohibitions. You can’t see a way forward and you won’t budge from your viewpoint, so you end up withholding this energy inside you which becomes very frustrating, and also causes a whole lot of self doubt.. It is a constant source of irritation to you until do some profound self-investigation and work out that you need to consciously develop a more flexible approach as there is always a way round things if you persist and a patient in investigating new paths. I agree with that.i think all that resistance comes from "outside" or actually from authorities when saturn is doing semi squares to some of my personal planetsCrazyAquarianOK so it is real then No one want to explain how it works in their chart?TaineberryI don't really have any semisquares (though I have a mesmerising quantity of full blown squares) in my chart. However,a friend of mine who has mercury semi-square Jupiter/Uranus often manages to upset other people when she comes out and says exactly what she thinks ( even though it is often amazingly insightful and intelligent), because her delivery of the message tends to not be very diplomatic. So, in a misguided attempt to keep the peace she often represses this impulse and prefers to “tell people what they want to hear”. This also does not always have the desired effect, as it comes across to others as either as patronizing or sarcastic or downright duplicitous. My friend insists that this is “the only way” to deal with stupid people, but she also ends up feeling irritated and frustrated with them. Deep down, she really just wants to be able to let rip with what she has to say, even embellish and stretch things a bit for added effect – and engage with others with sharp intelligence and wit (a good argument is fun for her), but it is not easy when her big, unique ideas and opinions about things mostly end up bringing her big trouble with other people!CrazyAquarianReally no one else?CoffeeI only do aspects of 30 degrees each, which represents the equal signs (tropical) and equal houses (whole sign)mochaiI have venus semisquare sun/uranus and mars semisquare neptune/merc. It makes a ton of sense in my chart and they all fit pretty well with my personality.I don't know how to explain them. I just always saw them like a lesser expression of the square. The definitions for them fit.CrazyAquarianFound these descriptionsMake sense to others? quote:A semi-square can have a stronger impact than a square if the orb is much closer and it is approaching rather than separating. An article:A semisquare reveals an area of inflexibility. A semi-square indicates tension and challenge and some resistance. Like the square but weaker, it represents the first difficulties onthe road and it will and it will depend on the overcoming or not of those difficulties, which work more on the mental and astral plane than on the physical – so on our thinking and feeling – , whether the tendency of character will become a trait or no.
