RunAroundScreaming | Check out all the nonsense he says. But, what I would be more interested in knowing is how many people agree with him. http://therealastrology.com/ask-kevin/relationship-astrology/193-composite-charts-vs-synastry.html |
dysfunctionalmystic | I think he makes some good points on the page you linked to but I haven't checked out the rest of the site yet. Why do you think he's crazy? What points or comments did he make that you agreed/disagreed with? |
Moonfish | It is not possible to look at a person’s natal chart and predict their behavior. We can’t know anything tangible about a person from looking at his or her chart. We can understand them on a symbolic level; we can recognize some of the key patterns and underlying motivations in their life. But what we can’t do is know, just from looking at a chart, who a person is or how they are experiencing their chart, because we have absolute free will. I didn't read the whole answer, but after looking at the first paragraph he seems pretty logical to me.

NickiG | i think hes nuts too...i didnt see anything really helpful to the womans question edit: a big thing for me is if i dont get a straight answer, then what the other person says is a bunch of nonsense....and he just goes on and on about how you cant predict every tiny detail about a person edit: yes, true, he is very logical, but he doesnt give a straight answer ------------------ I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate? when organic is used to describe food then you know we have come to a dark age in history |
Ceridwen | He said himself he can`t answer the question, because he doesn`t really believe in the value of composites. It doesn`t sound crazy to me, just that he doesn´t share your opinion, that`s all.
|
amowls** | Makes perfect sense to me. |

"Anything"? Really? This is too vague even for a Libra ascendant I don't think he's nuts, but he's questioning everything to a point where it wouldn't make much sense to practice astrology at all. While it's true that true will trumps everything in a natal chart, the inclinations are there and my personal opinion is that up until one point, we "are" our charts. My two cents. |

i wanted to say this but wasnt sure how to say it ------------------ I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate? when organic is used to describe food then you know we have come to a dark age in history |
RunAroundScreaming | So, according to you guys, if somebody posts on the forum asking if they are compatible with someone, no one should really answer at all because astrology can't answer those kinds of questions? And composite charts aren't valid at all? Really?? He is freakin crazy!

That post is a warning. Meaning, yes, astrology can be useful but it should be taken with a grain of salt. Don't bet your life on anything any astrologer tells you. That's all. It's a good warning. And just because he is of the opinion that Composite Charts are not valid, doesn't make him crazy. He just doesn't agree with your point of view. There isn't a lot of consensus among astrologers. Some LOOOOOOVE asteroids and use them with everything, others say that asteroids are a load of crap. Some people REFUSE to use placidus houses and only use whole sign or equal while others think placidus is more valid. It's just different schools of thought. |
RunAroundScreaming | I cant take him seriously if he finds composite charts to be invalid. How could anyone discover that? He must be dumb, and it takes someone who's observant yo be a good astrologer. |
Moonfish | I don't think his words are on point. Just saying that overall he seems "pretty logical" We are not robots with built in personality traits. Whether he disbelieves certain things in astrology is his opinion as amowls** stated. What's crazy is that even in the modern age when someone states there beliefs there called crazy for it :/ Astrology is in the lines of Religion, it is not something we see but something we feel & determine for ourselves whether it's right or wrong. |
RunAroundScreaming | His opinions are so completely radical to me, that that's how I see him: crazy. Sorry, can't help it lol. But it was interesting to see there are a lot more people out there than I thought who think astrology is so entirely based on free will. Everyone has their opinion, of course. |
RunAroundScreaming | I know that Michael Gauquelin's research shows that astrology is a lot more specific than we think, and we have less free will than we imagine. |

So you think we're basically robots? I'm not going to say your crazy..because that would make me a hypocrite But I can tell you that I personally know someone who's chart has a tight square-opposition between Sun-Moon-Mars. Now, you'd think this person gets mad easily and has a habit of being "harsh". Not the case! she's actually one of the nicest people I've ever met. She also works with kids and is very patient with them. Nothing like her chart says, now I'm not going to say these aspects have no influence, but ulimately like this astrologer says she has free will. |

Why is his word more important than the other astrologer's? If your "specific" stand point involves the asteroids I've personally researched nearly all the (main) ones & I know that some asteroids share the same traits. But don't you think the planets themselves would have the ulimate power over us than all the little asteroids? :/ |
Ceridwen | It`s interesting (and sad) how people feel the need to devalue other people, just because they don´t share their opinion on something. And for the record: I do believe in the value of composites, and I do not believe that we have just as much free will as we sometimes want to believe.
|
amowls** | Yeah too bad Gauquelin sectors aren't utilized commonly and have nothing to do with synastry or composites. He took a completely different approach. quote: I cant take him seriously if he finds composite charts to be invalid. How could anyone discover that? He must be dumb, and it takes someone who's observant yo be a good astrologer.
I mean, have you ever looked at the arguments against using Composite charts? At this point, it is entirely your word against another's. And you've been what, studying astrology for a little under 2 years now? Kevin's been a professional (which doesn't include his years of study) for 15 years now, according to his website. I like Composite charts, of course, but I don't respect people less for having a different opinion. |
Ceridwen | quote: Originally posted by amowls**: but I don't respect people less for having a different opinion.
That`s why I always enjoy reading your posts. |
RunAroundScreaming | Yada yada yada. All this talk about me being judgemental, when judging me is being judgdmental in and of itself |
