Jessica2407 | Which house system do you most relate to? Placidus,Whole sign or Equal house system? I know this must be a much debated topic, I don't really want to discuss which ones are more accurate but I'd be most interested to hear from people who have a late ascendant and who have a distinct cluster of planets in one specific part in their natal chart. The stellium would most likely change location depending on the house system you used.I would like to know HOW you relate to these house systems. Also would be interested to hear from people who live at extreme northern or southern latitudes and how they relate to their natal charts. Lately have been looking at my natal chart in the whole sign system and it makes much more sense to have a 8th house stellium than a 7th house stellium! |
Hera | 23 Cap, idk if it's late enough for you, but I relate better with Placidus. And I have tried a few. |
Libracorn | It depends on what 'late' is... in your terms... My ASC is at 21 in Capricorn... Do you mean people who have their ascendant at 20 degrees+?
------------------ capricorn asc ♑ - jupiter prominent ♃ libra sun ♎ libra moon ♎ Triple Libran, 9th house Stellium in Libra :D ''Only through the darkness can you see the stars'' - Martin Luther King, Jr. |
Kerosene | Im assuming late asc is 28-29 degrees, since majority of the first house seems to be in the next sign. |
nove731 | Not sure if it's late enough to qualify as "late", but I've got my ascendant at 27 degrees Virgo, and I use Placidus. It seems to be the most "right" for me, even though it gives me some duplicated signs and whatnot. ------------------ Sun -> Aries Moon -> Sagittarius Ascendant -> Virgo |
Ellynlvx | So do you relate to the Intercepted Sign readings? So you feel like you express things of that House and Intercepted Sign with the Sign that is on the House Cusp? |
Kerosene | Well house cusps are the same regardless of what degree of a sign but planets seem to be more affected by whole sign or placidus. Anyways I use placidus for tropical |
Bearee | I have my ASC in Libra 27 degrees. The placidus style works for me.. it describes me pretty well. I haven't really looked at the other house systems. |
themischievousone | I'm not sure if 20 degrees counts as late but I can say that the equal house system has been a bit more accurate for me. It places my mercury (leo) conjunct Sun (virgo) in house 2 instead of split between 2 & 3. It also puts uranus in house 5 instead of house 6. Both placements seem more fitting for me than placidus. I have not used whole sign yet tho. I also tried this with my best friend aho has a 23 degree asc (which puts moon in house 6 instead of 5 but doesn't change anything else). That was way more fitting for him. |
Jessica2407 | Oh Sorry! Late ascendant would be around this: quote: Originally posted by Kerosene: Im assuming late asc is 28-29 degrees, since majority of the first house seems to be in the next sign.
because then it makes a huge difference, most specifically if you have a stellium of planets in one of the houses. However, we can also include ascendants that start a little before what specified above. |

Thank you for posting. Were you both born in high southern or northern latitudes?

IDK if I understood your post correctly but whole signs disassociate the first house cusp from the ascendant, the latter is contained within the first house. |
Kerosene | Opps yeah well i meant regardless of what your asc degree is the house cusps are the same unless there are intercepted houses but those are sort of rare I think? I just thought you meant personality of the asc is altered by the first house primarily being in the next sign.

well, yeah I meant that too The point of focus, say, slightly tilts when the ascendant is contained within a sign than it vacillating between 2 signs. For me personally, I do not relate to aquarius rising at all. I am very Cappy rising (lol). 100% The whole sign system basically is space specific while the placidus is time based. Both are valid, I'd say. The meaning of the word ''cusps'' itself has changed in time. Cusps means points, sensitive points, with reference to point of the rising sign but today we refer to borders of a sign as cusps of a house or even beginning of a house. So in whole house system the word cusps has retained its original meaning, being sensitive points, like I have 28 degrees Cap rising, this is a sensitive point in every sign as a projection of the ascendant degree that works amazingly well in predictive astrology, where events can be predicted based on progressions and transits. Vedic astrology originally used the whole house system then gravitated towards the equal house sytem which supposedly is a more evolved house system than the equal house. However, I am looking at the whole house system in another perspective, since I never thought of checking my natal chart in whole sign before, I'm gradually getting more convinced with how it works best for me. The ascendant lord therefore becomes the Lord of the Horoscope rather than the 'chart ruler', the degree of rising in turn becomes a sensitive horoscope point |
Gemmy | I'm late Cap rising(24°).Plus a 4 planet stellium.I'm not sure if NY is considered an extreme latitude area. I relate to the placidus house system. For about a week the whole houses made sense. But my stellium moves from the 5th to the 6th.The more I compared the two charts, the more I realized the 6th house description just didn't fit.The other planets also fit their placidus houses. |
Jessica2407 | I'd say around 50 degrees north or south and more. |
Gemmy | Oh OK.I think NY is about 40 degrees North. |
LucieLemonade | Mine doesn't change much using any of these other charts except my Nept moves from the 1st to the second house. I don't really feel Neptune so much..... Of course, I don't have a late ascendent. The other thing is that your birth time could be off. My husband's mother said he was born at 1pm. But that would make him a Scorpio rising. He is SOOO not that. If we put his time back to 12:30 he is a Libra rising and that is a perfect description of him. |
