niyasa | I was wondering where we can find, in the natal chart, an interest or talent in science. Maybe airy people, or pisces, would be gifted in understanding scientific subjects? Which aspects would suggest it? |
Solar_Leo_Queen | Pisces is more of an artistic and dreamy sign. I wouldn't count that as scientific. Dominant Virgo or Gemini probably will be good. Strong and good aspects to Mercury should be great. Mercury aspecting Jupiter maybe? Aquarian influence would be good, too. |

And Sags, 9th house dominat people. Pisces are a little bit on artistic side more. I know, everyone are always giving Einstein as an example, but you know |
manderin | Einstein supposedly had Mercury conjunct Sun within less than 1 degree. Some authors have said that as long as Merc. is less than 1 degree of the Sun and absolutely no more than than, it creates genius. But I haven't tested that theory myself. And anyway, I'm always wary of birthtimes recorded for a long time ago as incorrect birthtime information is common even nowadays with all our advancements. (hospitals often don't put down the time of birth until after the baby has been cleaned and prepped which often means they often put the time down 15 or even 20 minutes after the actual birth time). |
Leocassandra | Isn't that Mercury combust SUN? |
LucieLemonade | What kind of sciences are you talking about? |

Yeah, Sags with 9th house probably. Although, I've always thought Sags were more spiritual people and their knowledge doesn't come from the physical plane--a.k.a. Sciences. I alway thought they were more into metaphysical sciences and such. But still.. they're pretty good with looking beyond logic. |
I'm so cappy | quote: Originally posted by Solar_Leo_Queen: Pisces is more of an artistic and dreamy sign. I wouldn't count that as scientific. Dominant Virgo or Gemini probably will be good. Richard Dawkins has the Moon, Mercury and Venus in Pisces ------------------ I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy. |
LucieLemonade | Again.... It depends on what kind of science we are talking about. In my circle the science focused people are Aries, Pisces and Aquarius. They are mechanical, electrical and computer engineers.

Desiring Shadows | Aquarius Mercury conjunct saturn/uranus------------------ My Chart! " Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present." -Joan Rivers "Be who u r and say what u feel cuz those who matter dont mind & those who mind don't matter" -Dr.Seuss "Never mistake silence for ignorance, calmness for acceptance, or kindness for weakness." -Carson Kolhoff |
soren | The quintile, which is 360/5 = 72 degrees, is said to represent natural gifts and talents and also has to do with arranging things and organizing them and putting information together in different ways. Einstien had quintiles. Quintiles is probably best known for its gift in science and math. So that is probably what is in your chart if you are good at science and math. There is also the biquintile (144 degrees) and decile (36) and tredicile (108) |
Comatoes | I have Gemini Moon, Mercury/Uranus, Uranus and Pluto in 3rd house and I'm very good with natural science, not so much chemistry but zoology, biology, microbiology etc. Wanted to be a Veterinarian but bailed out. |
Heartsong11 | Sag Sun and stellium. Chart ruler and pluto in 9th.I have a great aptitude for science and studied it for a few years. Until I got bored of it. |

Comatoes | Richard Dawkins is a raving lunatic, he thinks science is a religion, nothing like Einstein who presented his ideas softly and without raving. Pisces can be very good at Science as they are on the Virgo/Pisces axis, I also think mutable signs can be good at mechanics and putting things together, they know how things work and like to tinker and have new ways of seeing things. I also think Water and Fire Mercury can be visionary and out of the box thinkers. Also Aries is another sign that can be good scientist, as they are pioneers. |

Thanks for all your answers Biology, for example. I have a gemini moon/mercury/mars in 9th house - although the moon is on the cusp of 8th and 9th house. I've never been good at maths and physics, never liked them, but I looove biology and similar. I find it creative and 'artistic' just like literatures etc. ------------------ cancer sun libra rising gemini moon gemini mercury leo venus gemini mars |
Mercurian Intellect | Me (whatever is in my chart) Interest: -Aquarius Sun -Gemini Moon -Moon in the 11th House -Mercury in the 3rd House -Uranus/Jupiter aspects -Sun/Uranus aspects -Moon/Uranus aspects Talent: -Mercury in Virgo -Mercury in Aquarius -Mercury in the 3rd House -Uranus in the 6th and 3rd Houses -Mercury/Uranus aspects -Mercury/Saturn aspects -Uranus/Saturn aspects ^That's just for Science in general. Basically, Virgo is good with the practical sciences and Aquarius is good with the theoretical sciences. They're the "scientific" signs. |

No, his conjunction is not tight. http://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Albert_Einstein The time of his birth being incorrect will not change that. |

This, almost every chart I've seen of a scientist (depending on their field) has strong placements in these signs, usually two or all three. Many physicists, especially people who work in theoretical physics like string theory, have a strong Aquarius-Pisces pairing. I believe Michio Kaku who is a pretty well known popularizer of physics has Aqua Sun/Pisces Moon and I believe Mercury in one of the two as well. My friend who studied biochemistry in college has Pisces MC with Moon conjunct Saturn in Aqua, her Sun also aspects both Uranus and Neptune |
manderin | quote: Originally posted by Leocassandra: Isn't that Mercury combust SUN?
Yes it is. SUPPOSEDLY Mercury Combust SUN isn't good unless it's within less than 1 degree where it causes genius. But again, that's a claim that's been made by a couple of astrologers that I haven't tested myself. So I don't know if it's true. |
manderin | quote: Originally posted by Mercurian Intellect: No, his conjunction is not tight. http://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Albert_Einstein The time of his birth being incorrect will not change that.
Hmmm. Well like I said I haven't looked into it myself. I must've remembered his chart wrong. But there are people who say that it is combust. http://classicalastrologer.me/2013/03/08/a-question-of-combustion/ ""anyone who believes that Mercury has anything to do with thinking or intelligence will need to explain why Albert Einstein’s Mercury is Combust, not in a good sign and applying to Saturn in Aries ! Oh yes, and the Chart Almuten is Venus in her Fall.! Followers of Lilly will find an opportunity for validation, but it still won’t explain why being under the beams is still relevant. The theory based on celestial light cannot be used here If you didn’t know whose chart it was, the chances are you would think of art before science. I think it’s fair to say that Einstein had an approach to knowledge unlike the majority of theoretical physicists."" Here is at least one link claiming that a conjunction between merc & Sun that is less than one degrees causes genius. http://www.galacticcenter.org/main/articles-and-case-studies/the-yogas/page-22.html
"But if Mercury and the Sun are less than a half of degree of each other it will give a brilliant genius mind. This is actually an Arabian astronomical term called “Cazimi”."

Mercurian Intellect | ^I'm not agreeing nor disagreeing with your theory, I'm just saying that Einstein had his Sun and Mercury in a wide conjunction because you thought it was a tight one, that's all In my opinion, I think Einstein's Jupiter in Aquarius in the 9th House was one of the main indicators of his extraordinary intelligence. Some others were his Mercury/Saturn conjunction, Uranus in the 3rd House and Mercury quincunx Uranus. Perhaps his Neptune in the 11th House as well. I strongly support Mercury being the major indicator of the intelligence of a person in Astrology. The others are mainly Uranus and Jupiter, but those are secondary, and rather higher forms of thinking after the essential intelligence (Mercury) is formed. But technically, it's every planet, though, as all the planets (and other astrological objects) together form the astrological entity of a person. The brain is the reason why we're able to receive the astrological influence in the first place - and intelligence is manifested from the brain. If we were to lose an influence from a planet, "intelligence" would never be the same. |
