T O P I C R E V I E WmareaireI just have to say that yoga is an amazing practice! As a gemini asc, sun and mars, the breath work has unlocked my brain. My whole life I have been easily able to take in information, but formulating thoughts and ideas for longer than a few seconds has been challenging. Since starting yoga seriously 4 months ago I have experienced a strength and perseverance of mind like never before. I can pursue ideas into great depth and have had creative breakthroughs. I feel like it has a massive and timely gift for me. I'm sure it is beneficial to anyone, but I feel it serves the airy mind very well. I have always engaged in some sport or physical activity in my life, and always enjoyed the meditative quality within them, for my fast-paced brain. But yoga is taking it to the next level, and I had no idea it was so powerful~ why did it take me this long to find it? hahahaair~breath~prana~ mastering your breath through a series of asanas, building the prana, fueling your brain and body, mmmmm, so good! true gemini medicineanyways, what is your experience with yoga? do you feel like it helps you with certain aspects of yourself?venus2tinkerbellI've tried yoga, but not seriously. It's calling me though. So is Dakini dancing.I like the point you make about yoga strengthening your thought process and focus. I struggle with that. I'm not sure why but I bet it has to do with my gem mars, and mercury/jupiter conjunct asc...thanks for sharing.mareaireyea, it's doing wonders for my mind. i highly recommend it! i think it's all about finding a good teacher as well.the body benefits are pretty awesome too!venus2tinkerbellLast night after reading your post, and after work, I spent more than an hour looking into finding a school or workshop or something. I was searching so far and wide that by the time I decided to call it a night, I was in Tibet...although I say I am from nyc, I am actually upstate- apple country. Not much yoga in these parts.I work really hard and don't play hard enough. I was thinking I might find a place anywhere in the country and just go for some intensive studying 3-4 times a year. A teacher/instuctor/guide that can really share some depth of knowledge can give me enough to do on my own for 3 to 4 months I think. I would love to find something out in Arizona. I just want to study in the desert. That's my ideal yoga location.frankie2912Mareaire, thanks for sharing this! I've always been interested in yoga but never took it seriously because I'm so impatient and so out of shape...How would you suggest a total beginner start learning? I don't have the money or access to classes and teachers..maybe a book or youtube vids?My sag moon NEEDS physical activity and I think it's a good option. I also have a heavily aspected Mercury that is blocked and bogged down. Ami AnneI am a Gemini Sun, venus and Mercury. I do Kundalini yoga and lov eit!------------------ Want to Read Simple, Fun,Sexy Articles on Astrology? Mmmm, arizona is so yummy! a yoga retreat there would be epic!mareaire quote:Originally posted by frankie2912:Mareaire, thanks for sharing this! Of course I've discovered it's neither, and has actually been one of the most physically challenging activities i've ever done…and i've done a lot! It's also such a good practice to start when one is out of shape. It will do wonders for your body! For me it would have been really hard to get started without a class or teacher, but if you really want to do it, I'm sure you can! Dedication and perseverance! My partner has a sag moon and he is now eager to get into it as he sees the magic it is working for me. I have some friends who use online yoga sites, like this one: http://www.yogavibes.com There are a lot of free video classes, that's where I'd start. A book wouldn't hurt, but it's definitely really helpful to be lead through a series a poses and connecting it with the breath. And keep your eyes and ears open, studios and teachers are popping up everywhere. Even if you paid for one class, you'd get an idea of what it's all about, to aid you in your home practice.goodluck!BellaFeniceI LOVE it! I could talk about yoga all day. With the amount of Cap in my chart, I feel a source to relax and not get so consumed by the little details in life. I also enjoy the spiritual benefits of yoga, for being a Pisces Moon makes me feel compelled to have some source of spirituality and yoga seems to work for me. Mostly do Vinyasa and power yoga, depends on what I need at the time. Heck, sometimes all I need is meditation.DeepFreezeI used to do it regularly. Maybe one day again. I enjoyed it but for nothing more than physical benefit. The single greatest thing for my stress/spiritual needs is music by a long shot. I think it helps with my moon square mars/mercury tension while physical exercise helps with my mars/asc and Pluto/asc. That's how I see it. RandallCool thread!
