T O P I C R E V I E WPiscesCancerTaurusMy father is an excellent manipulator. He prays on the weakness of others and uses to get what he wants from them. My father's chart:Ascendant - ScorpioSun - Leo Moon - SagittariusMercury - LeoVenus - Leo Mars - ScorpioThankfully I didn't buy his B.S. and got away from him a long time ago. However, my brother and nephew live with him and have fallen under his spell. He manipulates them and uses them and cuts them down. My brother, who is a Cancer moon and ultra sensitive is torn because he really wants to leave but every time he works up the courage to do so my father manipulates him into staying again. My question is, has anyone ever met someone like this or do you know someone like this? How does someone deal with a person with this kind of chart? Queen SalomeIs your father a psychopath? http://www.minddisorders.com/Flu-Inv/Hare-Psychopathy-Checklist.html PixieJaneHe sounds a lot like my mom who has these placements:Ascendant - LeoSun - ScorpioMoon - GeminiMercury - ScorpioVenus - ScorpioMars - LeoI do think some tragedy in her upbringing made her energy go bad like that rather than she was "just born that way." As for dealing with her I never forget the kind of person she is, not even for a second, no matter how friendly and accepting she may be at the moment (in fact, when she becomes that pleasant my guard instantly goes up wondering what game she's playing now, like Captain Picard yelling in my head, "Red Alert, the mother is being 'nice'!" ). But as for those who fall under her spell (though I was her only child and no one in the extended family does, at least not more than once, as we know well what she's like) there isn't much you can do because they WANT to believe something else. It's the reason con-artists and their kin (like politicians) do so well, they suck people into believing the most outrageous things not because they're that good but because there are people who are that desperate for it to be true. (One guy I knew had financial problems because his roommate was always falling for absurd internet scams to the point that the roommate KNEW it HAD to be a scam but couldn't stop himself because WHAT IF this time it were true and he missed out?) So I don't think there's anything to be done for your brother and nephew save to wait for them to finally wise up (they'll hit the bottom eventually). If it were me I'd try to find someone else (preferably family) who can serve as more of a paternal figure that they desire (and likely need in order to function) with the hopes that they drift to the more healthy person. And yet some just aren't happy unless they're miserable (which may be true of your brother and nephew, no matter how much they complain) in which case I keep those people at a distance (emotionally speaking at least) as well so that I don't suffer vicariously along with them. astra7 quote:Originally posted by PiscesCancerTaurus:My question is, has anyone ever met someone like this or do you know someone like this? It almost sounded as if you were describing my father. He is exactly like that. Here's his placements:Capricorn SunCapricorn MoonAquarius MercuryAquarius VenusScorpio MarsVirgo JupiterSaturn in SagittariusLeo UranusNeptune in ScorpioLeo Pluto That man is a manipulative, two-faced ******* and you cannot tell him anything personal about yourself because he will use it against you. Last year, my car of 10 years died and I needed help getting a new car. My dad used this as an opportunity to draw me into his life because he knew that I was trying to become an Occupational Therapist. My father loves money and he will try to sap it out of you by using harrassment, manipulation and guilt trips, but I was resistant. He helped me get a new car by only co-signing, but he tried to use that as a way of getting me to live with him. I lived with him for 6 months, I couldn't concentrate on passing my boards exam because of his constant harrassment. He tried cutting my down by telling me that my brother and sister on his side are better than me and that he was going to see what I was going to do when my mother drops dead. The man was trying to break me and get me to stay with him and the family he had with my stepmom, brother and sister. Ultimately, I said to him screw you and moved out. Nolonger will he get his hooks into me by using the whole "I just want to build a relationship with you" ploy because I'm not buying anymore. Now I understand why my mother divorced him 30 years ago. She never told me a thing about her reason for leaving him to raise me on her own. She allowed me to make up my own mind and get to know him for myself. Sheeesh! The man is a nightmare.SoStellarOneAs a result of moving out of dad's house, I was able to regain peace of mind and pass my boards. Now, I'm getting ready to begin my new career in the field of Occupational Therapy in April.
