astra7 | I think it has come to a time that I need to buy an astrology software because I find astro.com is limited. I love the layout but it just doesn't do as much as I want it to be. So I've been thinking either SolarFire Gold or Kepler.... Do you have any recommendation? |
starmoon | i use Kepler and have been happy with it. it does much more than i need. |
astra7 | You know what I liked about SolarFire is that when you click on the play button, it forwards the chart by mins, days etc.... Does Kepler do that as well? On astro.com, you have to go back to the other screen to enter a day which is cumbersome if you want to do fine adjustment of time etc. ETA: I've just checked Kepler's regular (natal) wheel and it looks just like astro.com |
starmoon | why don't you just download a trial version of each and see what you like. |
astra7 | Oh I didn't know you could. I am happy if I could do synastry, comparison with progressed chart, composite, astroids and midpoint at this point in time. Thanks! |
Aubyanne | I adored Solar Fire for 22 years. It was with a heavy heart that I could no longer use it when I switched to Mac. Their Astro Gold app for iOS is a far cry from the full programme, but it AT LEAST allowed me to import my 10,000 charts amassed since 1990. These days, I use Astrodienst most regularly for everything. It gets the job done. I miss the bells and whistles like Arabic Parts and customisable features, but all in all, they've got a LOT. It's worth it. |
mcmlxix | I'm happy with an iOS app called iPhemeris. It has a standard grid ephemeris as well as constructing natal, transit, and synasrty charts...and it's always in my pocket. It does include some asteroids, but if you're really into obscure bodies, it would be limiting. |
astra7 | Oh you think Solar Fire? Tough choice.....I don't carry spy phone...I mean iphone so I won't go for apps.

Kannon McAfee | SolarFire is best in my opinion because it allows the selection of progression methods even more accurate than what you will find at astro.com ... Also displays declinations. If a program does not list declinations for every point it is not professional software and is no better than astro.com. ------------------ Professional Astrology, Expert Rectification Complete Rising Sign Descriptions |
aleenaxo | On my phone I use timepassages (the pro version) I wonder if anyone else uses it... |
