AstroAJ | Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux got married during Venus retrograde. I have heard this is "bad luck" and relationship commitments made during this time are bound for falling apart. I am still a beginner with astrology but my gut tells me a statement like that is too generalized and broad to encompass everyone and that you'd have to look at the charts to know when a good marriage time would be. That being said I also wouldn't purchase a car during Mercury retrograde knowing what I know about it Is there something to not getting married during Venus retrograde? Calling more experienced folks and those who have insight or experience with this? |

AstroAJ | TY!! what's the secret ingredient I am missing to getting replies? |
ReadingTheStars95 | Lol I could see this scenario.. Me and a Future spouse planning a wedding: Me: ah.. That seems like a good day. Spouse: But it's during Venus Retrograde Me: !%^& Hahahaha.. Kidding. I would say that overall, it is a bit of an over-generalization.. In fact, I think Venus retrograde can be a good time for the right types of relationships.. But, it would have to be with the right circumstances and the right kind of people in the relationship.. At least, that is how I see it. To me, when a planet is retrograde, I kind of think that part of what that does is that it sometimes brings out somewhat of a more yin expression of the planets energy.. of course, there is more that goes into it than that though... But it doesn't mean that it is inherently 'bad'.. Just depends on the perspective and the people involved. |
cchampliss2 | I went to a wedding a couple weeks ago during Venus retrograde and I hinted to the bride that I would love to come back for crab puffs when they renew their vows next year for the anniversary. |
goddessofthemoon | I don't think it's bad to get married during this time. I feel that Venus rx brings an end to relationships, but it also brings in relationships that are meant to be. I don't always see the native side to the retrograde because it's so much more. |
theunknown | Venus is Jen's chart ruler though... |
Belage | If Jennifer had come to me for advice I would have told her to wait until after Venus turns direct, but now that she is married, I will just wish her well. There is really no point in saying anything else about someone's recent nuptials. |

It was hard for me not to take extra notice of the only big wedding headline amidst a handful of Venus retrograde celebrity divorces. Was curious how different astrologers advise for Venus retrograde. True that what's done is done and we should all wish them well at this point. As I am learning to read charts just trying to get a feel for how one would advise a client who asked about being married during this Rx. (And I haven't even looked at her chart yet so I guess that would be a good place to start! :P)

Rosalind | Getting married during Venus Rx is not bad luck but with it or without it, the couple above mentioned is not gonna last long. |
teasel | I think my sister married with a Venus retrograde, but I'm not sure - I'll have to check. Something was retrograde. She's still married, three years later, but a friend who married the day after she did - I think she's now divorced. *edit. Not Venus. It was probably Mercury. |

Ok I understand where you're coming from. Astrologers have certain general rules which seem to work most of the time for most people. Rules about mercury retro is a good example. However, depending on the chart, there are a number of reasons why someone may still be able to profit by going against accepted astrological wisdom. Therefore, marriage during Venus retrograde is not an automatic bummer. There would be a number of things that could make it work. One of them is if one or both of the parties had venus retro natal in their chart. The other would be if they had been together before then separated for a long time, and then reunited. Some astrologers would also look at the composite of the parties and it it's positively activated by Venus or Jupiter or saturn, or the nodes on that date. In Jen's case, I notice that she is having a node reversal transit. I have my own thoughts on this which I will keep to myself. Lastly, I believe people are meant to go through what they go through for their soul growth. So ultimately, we could all live our lives in authentic and courageous ways without worrying about astrology, and we would be perfectly fine and would learn what we need to learn and every single one of our actions would lead us to our perfect destiny. That's why I don't worry about Jen's marriage. She obviously doesn't believe in astrology and that's perfectly ok. She will be fine and can still benefit from her marriage whether it lasts or not.

Thank You for clarifying, your perspective is a help! As a beginner I am trying to learn an develop my own opinions of how I feel about things. Even though I've not been studying for long. Already I am not a fan of black and white "predictive astrology". There are a lot of ideas out there like like "don't marry over Venus Rx". But it is a fine line to learn how to let people know future potentialities based on transits, progressions, etc, versus trying to predict their future or timing of their life. Thx again! |
athenaia | William and Kate got engaged during a Venus retrograde and they seem to be doing fine |
Venusincap89 | retrgrade simply means stronger planetary effect and it could really play out both ways long lasting strong impression or love that fades away once the venus goes directI think all it really does is... strengthen what's real while revealing what is something along the line of illusion? |
