T O P I C R E V I E WRoseLilyI read, somewhere in my past, that the position of your mars intricately played out in what sort of sports one would be talented at, but I can't find this particular paper anywhere, sadly. So I decided to call onto you, fitness lovers, and create a datasheet. We'll go like that: The activity that you like the most and why?:Do you find yourself talented in it?:What sign is your mars:What house is your mars:What aspects you think important your mars does to other planets:Personally... I'd say that the sport that is the most special to me is crossfit. I had a hard time choosing, but this one is truly at the top of everything else. The energy, family-like environment. The ruthlessness and hardness of the sport is just amazing and needs everything I have at all time. The mix of strength and endurance is just what I needed for myself. I think I am talented, or well. At least I'm good at it. I may not have game's potential, but I certainly manage incredibly well. I have a taurus mars in second house conjunct south node and opposite pluto. It's also making a sextile to my AC and a trine to Neptune/UranusPixieJaneThe activity that you like the most and why?: Skateboarding when I was younger, surfing as I got older. I should point out a sentimental as well as another reason for this. One, when my granny got me a skateboard, it let me know she loved me even though I wasn't everything she wished I was, and that meant a lot to me, and no doubt why I tried so hard to master it despite all the spills (without protective gear, not even a helmet) I took (including when I fell into a ditch and got stung by many yellow jackets, which I'd then brave to get my board back after they calmed down). And as I got good at it, I took pride, probably the same type of pride as climbing a mountain. It wasn't so much that I was good at it which I took pride in, but that I didn't quit until I was, that I endured the hard part of getting good, and that by not giving up I succeeded. I'd say a lot of that transferred over to surfing, but there's a special magic there. While I'm not like some Pisces moons I know who can get lost in the beauty of the waves, there is an intensity of power I can feel in the waves, power that I know could destroy me, and I can feel some "kinship" with "Mother Ocean" from which we all came and will one day return. Surfing isn't a mastery of that power, mind you, but it's a testament to my ability to live within that power and come out okay (most of the time).Given the Sag stellium (including Mars), I should definitely point out that I've always enjoyed archery (and, to a lesser extent, marksmanship, and btw, the first time I fired a shotgun, I felt the power of that as well, and it was frightening at first). I also take a hedonistic delight in which I work out (both weight training and aerobics) until I'm exhausted, and then using the sauna. I mix the sauna with cold showers (a regular one at the end) which is INTENSE, and both painful (as the cold water splashes on me, and sometimes walking right back into the sauna after) and yet so very pleasurable. (Afterward, I often have a delicious protein shake which then makes me feel all awake again, but only if I feel I've "burned it off" already.) Do you find yourself talented in it?:YesWhat sign is your mars:Sag Mars What house is your mars:Fifth. This might be why I don't like to be tied to team sports, btw, or part of competitions. (For me it really is about the fun, and the last thing I want to do is turn it into work with a tight schedule.)What aspects you think important your mars does to other planets:Sag Mars is in a stellium with moon, Neptune, Uranus, and sextile to my Libra sun & stellium (Merc, Venus, Saturn, Pluto).StubbornVirgoI loved soccer and basketball when I was younger. I was talented in both, especially in defensive positions. I'm physically not that big but I'm like brick wall when I'm in a defensive position. Nobody can get the ball past me lol. I also picked up running in college and really enjoyed that. I would still be running every day if I could. It started as a necessity, my parents wanted me to take lessons, partly because it was a thing in the family, partly because when I was little I had rather delicate constitution (1st house saturn conj asc - it got hardier as time went by). So I was indifferent at first, but eventually I found that it was a useful self defense method. Around the time when I realized that releasing energy did me a world of good, I started to like it as a form of physical workout. Somewhere along the line I became a bit sentimental about it.I've tried quite a few sports and enjoyed them all. But still, martial arts remain my favourite. Can't get enough of the hot rush, the thrill and intense focus. It makes me feel very "whole", as in my mind and body truly are "one". The style I like the most makes use of speed and heavy onslaught of attack - it suits the more combative side of my nature, so in a way it serves as a great outlet. Few things make my blood sing like a good spar, I like when other person gives as good as they get. Also, it's good fun. I spar with my s.o and it's an activity that both of us enjoy. He practices Tai Chi, is more gentle and a strategic fighter, so it's interesting to play with him and see our styles clash. Often I rain attacks while he dodges and dances around trying to gain control by drawing me in. Do you find yourself talented in it?:Hmm I'm quite ok at it. I wouldn't say I'm talented in it, because I have pretty high standards. What sign is your mars:Taurus mars. What house is your mars:4th house. What aspects you think important your mars does to other planets:It's in a wide opposition to pluto, trine my saturn/asc/NN. teaselI hated sports when I was younger, except for rounders (like baseball). I was good at catching, but not throwing. I was usually one of those picked last for sports. I also love swimming, but not competitively. I'm not interested in competing. Mars in Pisces, 4th house, square Moon, Venus, and Nodes, trine Uranus/ascendant. Biquintile Pluto. As I got older, and more athletic - at least with home workouts - my interest broadened a bit. that was before I got really sick, and had trouble keeping even water down (can still apply - I've been scared to test it out, and also depressed, so no motivation to get moving).teaselI like walking and hiking, too, Faith. I like walking with other people, or to let off steam (by myself). HadesFishI love all sports and always have. I was two when I got into that world.I currently play competitive soccer and I am a forward starting striker. I also love/ and do some/most extreme sports, like: biking, scaling, free jumping. And lastly I love nature related sports. Waking, running, swimming, etc. I also hate the confinement of a gym in sense of work outs with weights and machines, but will do if needed.I like to compete against myself and others in this, so yes I consider myself talented in what I choose to play.Mars in Sag in 5th. Not sure if you mean what Mars does in this sport scenario, or in general to others in natal, but Mars in my case does not get along with some others such as my sun and moon. In sports I don't feel it really affects me at all though because I mentioned I compete against myself also, and I'm prepared for the consequences- so kind of smooth as others around me are all on the same level anyways.------------------All that glitters is not Gold.Faith quote:Originally posted by teasel:I like walking and hiking, too, Faith. Desiring ShadowsThe activity that you like the most and why?: I love Zumba Do you find yourself talented in it?: Absolutely. I'm the best at my class but that's because I used to go a lot. I haven't been in a while because of work. Sad face (Also my Zumba class is INTENSE and he makes it fun by changing up the moves. It's not like that sh*tty Zumba class where you're just walking back and forth flailing your arms. I hate those.)What sign is your mars: Scorpio What house is your mars:6thWhat important aspects does your Mars make to other planets:At a 70% orb, my Mars makes the following aspects:Mars Trine Saturn 5degreesMars Quintile Uranus 1degreeMars Square MC 7degrees.. It's been a while since I played tennis, though.Capricorn Mars, H6.Square Uranus/ICTrine JupiterPixieJaneMartial arts isn't one of my favorite, but I sparred against a winner (tournaments) quite a bit. I think our natal chart influenced our styles. She was heavy with the Aries (including moon and Mars, all 1H) which perhaps was why she was so aggressive and fiery, while I was more adaptable in my approach (Sag moon and Mars) and thus harder for her to predict (and frustrating when she wasted so much effort to overcome me through sheer brute force and missed--though when she connected, I felt it hard, even with the padding on). StawrThe activity that you like the most and why?: Dance, running, swimmingDance: It's fun,and makes me feel like a fabulous star!Running: It's a great outlet when I need to blow off some steam. I can go at anytime, and I get to choose the music I listen to. Swimming: This one is all for pleasure. It makes me feel alive and good. Do you find yourself talented in it?: It all depends who I am compared to I guess. Dance: I've been complemented on my stage presence. Sometimes I outshine the people with more experience and technique do to my presence and magnetism. My technique improved a lot in my teens. I was not very good as a kid, since I didn't go to a real dance studio until I was 11, and I was gangly and have low muscle tone. I always sucked at hiphop style dancing. But I did seem to have more of a natural ability in ballet and tap. I have flexible feet. And have been told that I should be front in center for tap routines. And I really sell tap. I have good rhythm too. I miss dance class sometimes.Running: I can run a mile and 11 1/2 minutes. Most I ever ran was 3 miles. I hate living in MI in the winter and not being able to run. Swimming: Doing it competitively, sounds miserable.
