T O P I C R E V I E WEmpty SpacesAccording to astro the most powerful planet on my chart is Jupiter but all the aspects the I have are squares (5) they aint tight though and 2 trines. How jupiter squares affects a chart? Any idea? (Sun/mercury/mars/uranus/neptune)Plus Jupiter rules my 7th house.Dont quote, please.Doux RêveI find the idea of a "dominant planet" absolutely pointless and distasteful. It doesn't really serve any purpose. It's just a nice little "check point" you can cross on a paper to make yourself feel a certain way e.g. "Oh yes, I'm a Neptunian! I'm so dreamy / mystical / artistic/ out of this world", etc. It doesn't actually help anyone, because we're all multi-layered and cannot be put in a box with the name of one singular planet on it. We're literally a mix of many, many things, that come out in different ways/at different moments depending on the circumstance. So, sorry this isn't helpful to you, but that is just my opinion. You don't have to find *the* dominant planet in your chart. Because there isn't one. sorenits good your thinking doux but i disagreebased on chart shapes, certain planets can take center stage in a birth chartnot to mention conjunction to sun or horizon (piercing synchronizing)but like you said if someone knows their dominant its not saving anyones lifebut nothing in astrology really is, its just fun to learn about yourself and obsess but pullen's dominant chart calculator is pure BS imoaddition guess which planet in each chart is the dominant. this is my own method. although i would agree that having many tight aspects would strongly increase a planets influence. but aspects alone are one thing. the shape of the entire chart is another which cant be ignoredKoniucha quote:Originally posted by Doux Rêve:I find the idea of a "dominant planet" absolutely pointless and distasteful. You don't have to find *the* dominant planet in your chart. Because there isn't one. I agree. Jupiter is my strongest planet too and I certainly don't feel that way. I actually feel more Neptunian than anything, due to Neptune on my asc and Mars in my 12thFaithPlease just don't make the same mistake that others make: thinking Jupiter squares create an anti-Jupiter energy....that Jupiter squares function in a Saturn-like way. Jupiter just amplifies whatever it touches. With the squares, you get more potential for negative excesses. My Cap sun is square Aries Jupiter...you'll find me overdoing things out of enthusiasm, naivete, or competitiveness (even though I rationally dislike being that way, it's just an ingrained tendency.) Electro DGXThere are so many ways to determine dominant planets that it honestly is up to the indivudual to determine which planet in their chart is dominant. Pullen's calculator is crap; during the period when Uranus and Neptune where in Aquarius, the pullen calculator displayed absolutely everyone of those people as having Aquarius as their strongest sign, even when having no 11th house placements. It would make sense for me considering my Aquarius Stellium, but how is Aquarius stronger in the context of someone who has a four planet stellium in Gemini? In fact, that stellium is conjunct his DSC and his 11th house is empty. All in all, try finding over methods than Pullen and see how that works for you. You can use Pullen if you want, but make extensive comparisons between varying systems if you are doing so. This one is more for fun, but try Donna Cunningham's planetary points tests. They are interesting (my Mars score came out to a 90 ). I wouldn't completely disregard the idea of a dominant planet however. That's a very piscean thing to say; in fact, it reminds me of NYCDodgers comment on how he was going to identify as being all the signs and not just one in particular. I feel like that the lack of order in planetary strength can easily eliminate the idea of the individual expression of these energies, also making it more difficult to see what traits one identifies with more strongly. Faith's comment about Jupiter is great though, and is much needed. ------------------Scorpio AscendantAquarius Sun in 4thGemini Moon in 8thCheck out my blog ya'll: www.electrodgxtalks.wordpress.comBeholdAstarte quote:Originally posted by Empty Spaces:According to astro the most powerful planet on my chart is Jupiter but all the aspects the I have are squares (5) they aint tight though and 2 trines. How jupiter squares affects a chart? Angular planets are definitely strengthened!!! I have squares to Jupiter also, with a few sextiles and trines. Tension to Jupiter usually leads to indulgence and excess, so having a hard time controlling the self which usually leads to extremes, like spending too much money, over eating or over drinking. Jupiters optimism could be blown out of proportion too, so being over confident in the self or the situation, only later to be shocked by reality. Sometimes I've seen it manifest as pomposity or arrogance. it's about learning balance, Saturn is usually a good stabilizer for hard Jupiter aspects. I think in its best expression it gives a contagious optimism that's attractive to others and jupiters timing can lead to opportunities when relying on the gut feelings, Jupiter seems to have that lucky trait of knowing when to act. Like you I believe we have to check the whole chart but I think this method can help you to understand your chart better. For example on their list the 3# strongest sign on my chart is LIBRA.I have many libra traits (not the greatest ones though ) but when I talk about it here most people dont think my planets on 7th house are enough to give me these traits.Well they are in my personality either I like it or not.So basically this method dont deny that you have a blend of energies, just points out the strongest ones...I act more like a cap (my 1# sign) but it doesnt mean I dont act like my 2# scorpio and my 3# libra and the others..they are just a little weaker. My question was stupid though.Of course I don't think Im Jupiterian because of that but obviously Jupiter plays a big role on my chart and I want to understand what kind of energy these squares brings to my life you know?I never fully understood because is hard to find information about Jupiter in hard aspects.Empty SpacesThanks a lot Faith!!! Anti-jupiter energies! Actually that was exactly what I was thinking!! Hum..what you say makes sense.I have these excesses!!Thanks for sharing your opinion Electro DGX I still have a fragile opinion about this method (its something new for me) but so far it helped me!I like to try everything though so I'm not going to get attached to it!! lolThanks a lot BeholdAstarte Yes I have sagittarius DSC.7H ruler goes to 4H and 4H ruler goes to 7H.My NN is in sag too if that means something and Venus in pisces 9H.Thats all I have in Sag!All the excess you and Faith mentioned makes sense lol and I also tend to be obssesive but I guess that is more a Scorpio thing right?Soren and KoniuchaThanks for sharing your opinion too
