In determining the meanings of a planet in a sign, or house for that matter, you consider first the meaning associated with the planet and blend it into the meaning of the appropriate Sign or House. Jupiter’s energy primarily has to do with the person’s characteristic mode of expressing his or her energy as influenced by his or her desire. The following takes that meaning and applies it to each Sign in the zodiac.
Jupiter in Aries – indicates the joining of Aries’ aggressive energy with Jupiter’s concern for higher education, philosophy, or religious endeavors. There is an innate understanding of spiritual and creative endeavors. The motto for Jupiter in Aries is “Behold I make all things new”. The individual will exert positive action in order to improve conditions which they feel new it. They believe strongly in the possibility of regeneration and rebirth. There is a danger here that the individual will allow their ego to overwhelm their actions. There can be a messiah complex, if the person doesn’t stay grounded, and realize that all comes from the divine, and that they merely are the conduits of the message, not the originator. When ego is contained, there is no other Jupiter sign that can accomplish more for others and to jumpstart spiritual or social endeavors.
Jupiter in Taurus – Jupiter’s energy here indicates a capacity for correct and beneficial control of resources. In the evolved individual, the knowledge that all comes from and returns to the divine allows them to provide guidance and positive control to the resources flow. The advanced individual understands that all resources; money and materials, are like energy, and do the most good when they flow freely to everyone. Once the individual understands this concept, and their part in the process, they can achieve a great deal for others, as well as themselves. Wisdom and discrimination are the two tools that this individual must work to acquire in order to grow and evolve. If this lesson is not learned, the individual will become involved with the making of wealth, but not the distribution, in order to facilitate the flow. If afflicted, there may be an unearned sense of being special or belonging to a privileged class. The less evolved Taurus Jupiter is not particularly religious, unless they see being so as a means for achieving something they desire.
Jupiter in Gemini – The mix of Jupiter’s energy for intuitive awareness and Gemini’s intellectual energy indicates a love of philosophy and mystical realms, and the study, either formal or non-formal of these fields. Their minds are generally open to new concepts and awareness. They have a strong intellectual curiosity and work hard to pursue their interests. They tend to have a mental restlessness about themselves, constantly having to take on new and interesting concepts. They generally have lots of friends and acquaintances. They use their social interactions to provide new information and to confirm their own thoughts. They must take care not to allow themselves to be like a butterfly, jumping from one sweet flower to another. They need to keep their focus on a few things at a time, and complete their investigation to their satisfaction.
Jupiter in Cancer – These two energies mix nicely indicating a kind and genital disposition stemming from their happy family conditioning. They are usually very concerned with moral and religious values, and generally settle on their life principles early in life. They make particularly great parents, loving their offspring or those they care for deeply. They often use their homes as a center for socializing and their spiritual endeavors. They may have the tendency to eat too much, and thus become over-weight. This is a problem, because they tend to be wonderful cooks, and enjoy preparing food for others.
Jupiter in Leo – this mix of energies results in an expansive, optimistic and self-confident individual. They love doing things in a big way, from a simple get together to a lavish party. Any kind of ritual enthralls them, and they are often involved with religious, secular or other types of ceremonies. They are also drawn to art, music, and other expressions of creativity. The down side of this position is that if the individual allows their ego to override their innate good sense of judgment, they can become arrogant and vain. They too must learn that their role in this cycle of life is to help others, not just themselves. They usually have a great love for children, and an intense interest in their growth and wellbeing.
Jupiter in Virgo – Here the two energies, Jupiter’s wisdom mixed with Virgo’s desire to serve others, leads to applying practical applications to religious, spiritual, or philosophical concepts. They will be interested only in those ideas that serve a practical purpose for others. The downside for this position is that Jupiter’s energy expresses itself best in expansion of an idea, while Virgo’s energy is expressed best in the details relating to the application of the idea. If the individual can become moderate in their approach, delegate authority to other’s and scale down their direct involvement, they can accomplish a great deal. They are committed to integrity in all that they do, and make tough but fair taskmasters. They require no more from others than they themselves are willing to give. They need to learn to chill out a little, and understand that we all are different, and that allowing other’s to work in their own manner, will still accomplish their goals.
Jupiter in Libra – The mix of the two energies here indicates a strong concern with justice and moral principle. They tend to gravitate towards others of similar values. Their relationships are usually from this group, and thus their partner in life. Their marriage will reflect a strong and sincere moral and service commitment. While they may have a good sexual relationship, their marriage is more a moral and social contract with each other to love each other and work in unison for their shared ideals. They generally have a generous and warm demeanor and have lots of friends. They find working this the public easy and enjoyable, and as such make excellent public relations and sales people. Their main talent is their ability to bring awareness and growth to others through they way they live their lives. They must remember that they can’t be everything to everyone, but must always be true to themselves if they are to achieve their goals.
Jupiter in Scorpio – These two energies mix together indicating large-scale involvement in matters relating to joint or corporate finances, insurance, or taxes. The Jupiter energy, coupled with Scorpio’s cause the individual to be particularly interested in the occult, life after death, or other mystical endeavors. There is an interest in communication with those in other realms of existence, especially if Neptune, Uranus, or Pluto make aspects to Jupiter. They must watch not to become fanatics about a particular faith or idea, refusing to allow other’s the same right that they have to choose their own path.
Jupiter in Sagittarius – Jupiter’s energy mixes easily with Sagittarius’s energy resulting in a love of philosophy, religion, travel, or advanced education. They tend to embrace faiths or beliefs that have strong guidelines of behavior to regulate their life. This can take the form of a religion, philosophic concept or political party. Jupiter causes the individual to seek some system for controlling one’s conduct and way of life. Their life reflects which ever system that they settle on, bringing them the admiration of others in the group. They desire to understand deep metaphysical concepts, particularly those relating to levels of consciousness. They believe deeply in a divine being who is behind the physical manifestation and evolutionary process. The down side is that once they arrive at their belief system, they often tend to try to convert others to it. They need to allow others to seek answers from them based on their observation of their behaviors if they feel like it, not actively try to convince them of their error. Once they understand that we all come to awareness in our own way, and from our own needs, they will do well.
Jupiter in Capricorn – the two energies don’t mix too well here causing the individual to be concerned with the letter of the law or teaching, and miss the spirit behind it. These individuals can have strong integrity in their moral outlook. They tend to be rather conservative, wanting to cling to traditional values. They tend to support the status quo, believing sincerely that the guidelines expressed therein are the best roadmap for success. They often hold offices of power in organizations that value adherence to a clear guideline of conduct. They have a strong desire for positions of power in order to support the system and protect it from changes. They tend not to be very outgoing, holding a great deal of feelings, particularly feelings of frustration, inside themselves. Unless they learn to release such feelings, they will be subject to health problems.
Jupiter in Aquarius – The two energies mix here to create a truly free soul. They generally recognize no class, racial, or other arbitrary labels. They insist on social, religious, and moral values that are universal, non sectarian, and impartial. They are spiritual beings who feel that their role in this life cycle is to share their awareness with others, but in a non-intrusive way. They have great Torrance for diversity of thought, realizing that all awareness springs from the same divine wellspring. They understand intuitively that we all are at different points on our spiritual paths, and that our growth is dependent upon ourselves, not them. Even though they accept diversity of thought, they feel that tolerance, respect for others, and cooperation are primal guidelines. They usually have lots of friends and are involved in groups dedicated to the brotherhood of man.
Jupiter in Pisces – Jupiter’s energy mixes with Pisces’ energy to give great emotional depth and compassion. They tend to champion the underdog, often working in institutions that provide services to others. The downside here is that for everyone in need that can use their help, there will be a few who take advantage of their care. They must learn that the greatest gift of all to give someone is to help them to learn to take responsibility for themselves. These individuals are involved with mystical endeavors, and usually have strong religious convictions. There can be psychic abilities if aspected to Uranus, Neptune or Pluto. They tend to have a direct intuitive awareness of the spiritual realm of being. The advanced Pisces/Jupiter can have a very deep awareness and spiritual understanding. Because they are extremely sensitive to their environment, they often need to remove themselves to a more tranquil environment, in order to recharge their batteries. Care should be taken with this mix not to be seduced into a relationship with a guru or holy man, where they give up their freedom of thought.
