Virgo28 | A Yod is a fated sickness and death aspect: It is when one planet(Focus) is connected by two other planet @ 150 degrees(Sign next to an opposition) Example Cancer Sun inconjunct Sag Mars and Aquarius Saturn. You can see Sag & Aquarius are Capricorn neighboring signs. In this case Mars and Saturn will also be sextiling each other(Same polarity but different modality - They can work together). You don't have a yod because you'll need planets on Gemini and Leo. ------------------ "If a man does not work passionately - even furiously - at being the best in the world at what he does, he fails his talent, his destiny, and his God." |
HappyLoewe | A yod is also called The Finger of Fate when three planets form a triangle together. I found this website fairly useful when looking at Yods and other things. I hope it helps a bit more. http://www.falconastrology.com/yod_101.htm

Interesting as I have never heard of the fated death/sickness bit before. Does this just apply to natal or does it include synastry as well? (Yet more research for me to do !!!) |

I only use it in natal chart. Unless your S.O. Kills you or gives you poison. ------------------ "If a man does not work passionately - even furiously - at being the best in the world at what he does, he fails his talent, his destiny, and his God." |

To understand a Yod, you first have to understand the quincunx aspect. And sextile, for that matter. A Yod involves 2 quincunxes and a sextile. It does not signify death and sickness; it signifies fate or destiny; sometimes called the Finger of God. The quincunx can be a difficult aspect, but it is not always negative. I prefer to think of it as opportunity for growth. No, you do not have a Yod in your basic chart. |

It's consider a sickness/death aspect because it makes an 6th/8th aspect from the focal point. Someone I respect greatly uses it as predicting tool. ------------------ "If a man does not work passionately - even furiously - at being the best in the world at what he does, he fails his talent, his destiny, and his God." |

You have a lof of planets in Capricorn so the conjunction to Saturn will be similar. ------------------ "If a man does not work passionately - even furiously - at being the best in the world at what he does, he fails his talent, his destiny, and his God." |
margym0o | For illustrative purposes I will post this man's chart: Does anyone want to take a stab at interpreting these Yods? |

A yod is complicated to interpret. I can give you a generel overview of his obstacles in his life. He is a Taurus moon - me too.

I did a manual calculation of the aspects between the planets, house ruler and planets in the house. The outcome did surprise me. 275% on Venus/Mars. It is a Trigon in his chart so I calculated it one more time, but this aspect is the most challenging in his life. He has a disposition to problems with his kidney or the bladder. If that occurs he should drink bear or Ginseng tea. That is no joke. That is written down in the book. 200% on Venus/Jupiter. With this aspect he has a disposition to adiposeness. The solution is a diet. 185% on Sun/Moon. There is a gap between feeling and willing. A solution can be drinking grape juice. In my book there are more solutions, but I think men always drink and eat. This chart did amaze me. Thank you for that experience! |

A Yod in astrology is a strong invitation to focus on an issue (the item at the Apex) in order to avoid a fatality. It also tells you which energy is available to solve them. |
pippastrelle | Omg wasn't aware it indicated sickness and death, so I'm doomed then!!😰 Here's my chart, any specific date for my fated demise??😨 http://imageshack.com/a/img924/3355/2CMJpl.jpg |
Randall | No, not doomed. |

I dont mean to be captain obvious but...arent we all fated to die? I dont understand your definition of the yod as a "fated death or illness" aspect. I have a yod and ive never heard this. How does this work in your opinion, based on a fated death? Is it like the universe alerting us of how to avoid a death, be we are going to die anyway, but if we avoid it, we will have a better death? ANd if its alerting us of a fated death, wouldnt that make it not fated as we may be able to avoid it (so our other death is the fated one). sorry so many questions, i have a yod and I know my sister would kill me if she could get away with it. |
